Send us a text Genesis 12 is the launchpad for world history. We explore God's radical call to Abram: leave everything for a land he's never seen, based only on a promise. This episode breaks down Abram's three immediate tests: radical obedience, the pressure of famine, and the high-stakes, near-catastrophic encounter with Pharaoh in Egypt. Discover how even a man called by God can stumble, and how God's unwavering faithfulness protects His covenant despite human failure. Could you pass the test? Tune in! The Call of Abram - Torah Portion - Lech Lecha: (Genesis 12–17) - 2024-2025 rebroadcast by Shawn Ozbun
Lutheran Preaching and Teaching from St. John Random Lake, Wisconsin

When God Calls, Faith Walks : Genesis 12 : Pastor Raef Chenery : 10-26-25 by Park Community Church
This week's Torah portion is called Lech Lecha, which means “Go forth,” and it centers on God's call on Abraham's life. It covers Genesis 12:1–17:27. After the biblical flood and the failed ambition of the Tower of Babel, God changes His strategy for engaging with humanity. Instead of a universal covenant with all of creation, God narrows His focus to one person: a man named Abraham from a land called Ur of the Chaldeans. The opening words of this portion are simple, but they set a new course for all human history: “The Lord said to Abraham, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.'”God doesn't fully explain His plan to Abraham. He simply says, “Go forth” or “lech lecha.” Abraham, a model of faith and obedience, sets out for the land God will reveal. He leaves behind his entire world to follow a promise into a land he has never seen. Abraham was called to leave the height of civilization, the sophistication of Ur. To follow God, Abraham had to abandon the very highest human accomplishments and security, venturing into an unknown, backwater land with no guarantee of safety or prosperity.Support the show
This message launches a new series on the life of Abraham, where Pastor Kyle highlights Abraham as an example of faith and multiplication. In Genesis 12, we see a contrast between God's promises and human failure, showing that faith is an active response to God's Word, a willingness to go without knowing. Even in Abraham's moments of foolishness and doubt, God's faithfulness and grace shine through, and we see how God uses imperfect people to fulfill His global plan of blessing through one man, Jesus.

We explores the story of Abram's journey from the promised land to Egypt during a severe famine, examining how God tests our faith not just in obedience but in our motivations. Pastor Chris teaches that while growth often comes through stress and desert seasons, fear can distort faith and lead to compromise. Abram's decision to leave the promised land for Egypt without God's direction, and his subsequent deception about Sarah being his sister, illustrates how fear breeds disobedience and costly consequences. However, the sermon emphasizes God's faithfulness even in our failures - He protected Sarah, restored what was lost, and remained true to His promises because He cannot deny Himself. The message concludes with practical application: replace "what if" fears with "even if" faith statements grounded in God's promises, and remember God's past faithfulness when facing uncertain futures.CLICK ME: Sermon OutlineINSTAGRAMTIKTOKYOUTUBEWEBSITE
The story of Abram shows what it means to follow God when the path ahead is unknown. Abram left behind everything familiar simply because God called him. His life reminds us that blessing isn't God giving us everything we want; it's God giving us Himself. God is calling us to trust Him, worship Him, and walk with Him toward a better home.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? Want to get more involved? Looking for a Group or Ministry Team? In this sermon, Pastor Chris explores the concept of faith through the story of Abram (Abraham) in Genesis 12:4-9. He identifies three pillars of faith that contributed to Abram's success: faith moves when God calls, faith builds altars before building dreams, and faith moves even when it doesn't make sense. The sermon emphasizes that God operates on the economy of faith, and without faith it is impossible to please Him. Using Abram's journey from Haran to Canaan, Pastor Chris illustrates how true faith requires immediate obedience, prioritizing God above personal ambitions, and continuing to trust God even when circumstances seem unfavorable. It concludes with a pattern observed in biblical figures: encounter with God, worship, desert experience, and finally blessing.CLICK ME: Sermon OutlineINSTAGRAMTIKTOKYOUTUBEWEBSITE
Faith is where it all begins. From the moment God called Abraham to leave everything familiar and step into the unknown, the life of faith was born. Today, the Spirit of the Lord is calling us back to the foundation of our walk with Him — a life built on complete trust and confidence in God. In this message, Pastor Andrew Eldridge takes us through the story of Abraham — the Father of Faith — to remind us that: • Faith begins with a call. God speaks first, and we respond. • Faith requires leaving in order to receive. Sometimes you must step out of what's comfortable to walk into what's promised. • Faith looks forward. God rarely shows us the whole picture, but He always gives us His word. • Faith obeys. True faith moves — it acts on what God has said, even when you don't have all the answers. • Faith grows. Abraham's journey wasn't perfect, but he kept walking — and so must we. • Faith points us to Christ. The same faith that was counted to Abraham as righteousness is now fulfilled in Jesus.

In this sermon, Pastor Nathan shows how God chose an obscure shepherd named Abram, called him and made a loving promise to bless him ALL BECAUSE of God's great love of partnering with people. God's preference is to partner with ordinary people like Abram to reveal His love and plan, and to bring about his purposes. God is only looking for people to say "yes" and believe in His goodness and promise.
Genesis 12:3 is a foundational scripture for non-Jews, Christians, to be a blessing to Israel, and for Israel to be a blessing to the families of the world. It's reciprocal, a formula, albeit parallel. But it's also sometimes overused, and done so in ways that are transactional, even manipulative. How can we understand the depth and obligations of this pivotal verse and what are our reciprocal obligations to one another as Jews with the world, and the world – and specifically Christians – to Israel and the Jewish people. Buckle up. You've never heard this one verse unpacked in this depth, especially now.PLEASE DONATE TO THE GENESIS 123 FOUNDATION ISRAEL EMERGENCY FUND AT WWW.GENESIS123.CO To join us making special events like this possible, please give generously at https://genesis123foundation.revv.co/soldierssocialwelfareGet information about how you can join FOOTSTEPS at https://genesis123.co/footsteps/For information about and how to register for Root & Branch, please go to www.RootandBranchIsrael.comConnect with the Genesis 123 Foundation at www.Genesis123.co and learn how you can host Shabbat in your community.FB - www.facebook.com/Genesis123Foundation Twitter - @Genesis123FIG - Genesis_123_FoundationFind out how you can be part of Run for Zion and bless Israel with every step at www.RunforZion.com.
Finding true greatness requires abandoning self-glorification and embracing God's way, as Abraham demonstrated when he left everything behind at age 75. While the world pursues greatness through self-effort like the Tower of Babel builders, Abraham found it through faith and obedience to God's call. This journey requires dying to our old identity and embracing who we are in Christ. True greatness comes not from achievements or possessions but from God's presence in our lives, living according to His Word, and participating in His mission to reach others.CLICK ME: Sermon OutlineINSTAGRAMTIKTOKYOUTUBEWEBSITE
In this sermon, Pastor Chris explores how the blessings promised to Abraham in Genesis 12 directly connect to believers today. The message traces how God's promises flow from Abraham to Israel, then to Christ, and finally to the church. Pastor Chris emphasizes that a blessed life isn't something earned but is a gift from God that comes through faith in Christ. The sermon outlines five key blessings that flow from Abraham to believers today: prosperity (material, relational, and spiritual provision), prominence (being made a royal priesthood and holy nation), purpose (being called to bless others and raise families in the Lord), protection (divine security that no one can take away), and presence/legacy (having God's Spirit within and leaving a lasting spiritual impact). The message concludes by challenging listeners to consider what legacy they will leave behind when they stand before Christ.CLICK ME: Sermon OutlineINSTAGRAMTIKTOKYOUTUBEWEBSITE
