Expository Reading & Pastoral Prayer - Psalm 79:11-13 - Pastor Kurt M. Smith - 2/15/2026
Lord, you have searched me thoroughly. You know me.... This can be a scary thought. We want to be known, and seen, and loved, and respected. Not searched. Later in the Psalm we learn how wonderful and loving is the one who knit us in our mother's womb. His "searching" eyes are there to see our slightest need for him. How wonderful he is in his care for us in all things.... This is a quiet meditation to bring to our inner space a sense of safety and trust. Music by Petrushkasound from Pixabay
In this episode of Faith In Between, I'm talking about prayer — not as a performance, but as a conversation. Psalm 27 reminds us that God isn't waiting for the perfect words. He's inviting us to come talk with Him. If you've ever felt unsure how to pray, avoided prayer altogether, or felt like you needed to “get it right,” this episode is for you . We'll sit with Psalm 27:8, Psalm 28:7, and Psalm 27:13–14, and I'll pray with you at the end — right where you are. You don't have to have it all figured out. Just come.Let's stay connected
Expository Reading & Pastoral Prayer - Psalm 79:8-10 - Pastor Kurt M. Smith - 2/8/2026
Send us your feedback — we're listeningPsalm 4:8 — Jesus, Give Me Peace Before I Sleep and Quiet Every Fear in My Mind - From London to Dublin, Vancouver, Rome, Warsaw, Johannesburg, and Melbourne, people tonight are searching for night anxiety prayer, Jesus calm my mind before sleep, prayer for protection at night, fear of tomorrow prayer, intrusive thoughts at night, I can't switch off my mind, prayer for emotional rest, sleep prayer when anxious, Jesus help me sleep, prayer for peace in the night. These global search behaviours represent a rise in evening fear, mental exhaustion, emotional overwhelm, and the longing for deep rest that only Jesus can give. Psalm 4:8 (NIV): “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” John 14:27 (NIV): “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”Jesus, as this day comes to an end, I bring You my tired mind, my restless thoughts, my worries about tomorrow, and every hidden fear that rises when the world grows quiet. You see every anxious thought, every moment of uncertainty, every place where my heart feels heavy, and every area where I feel unable to settle. Tonight, I ask You to breathe Your peace over me—real peace, Holy Spirit peace, the kind that slows my heart, clears my mind, and quiets every anxious place within me. Protect my mind from intrusive thoughts, protect my heart from fear, protect my spirit from overwhelming pressure, and protect my rest from the emotional noise of the day. Jesus, be my covering, my shield, my peace, and my security. Where fear whispers, speak truth. Where worry rises, bring calm. Where exhaustion weighs heavily, bring rest. Where the unknown feels overwhelming, remind me that You hold tomorrow in Your hands. Holy Spirit, settle me tonight. Surround me with Your presence. Let Your peace fill my breathing, steady my thoughts, soften my emotions, and give me the gift of peaceful sleep. I declare that Jesus is my peace tonight. Fear will not rule my mind. Anxiety will not steal my rest. The Holy Spirit covers me, the Father watches over me, and I will sleep in safety and rise in strength. night prayer, Psalm 4:8 devotional, Jesus calm my mind, sleep anxiety prayer, fear of tomorrow prayer, global night devotional, peace before sleep prayerSupport the showFor more inspiring content, visit RBChristianRadio.net — your home for daily devotionals, global prayer, and biblical encouragement for every season of life. David Forsyth explores Moses' timeless pattern for prayer found in Psalm 90, revealing three essential elements for believers facing adversity and sorrow. This pattern for prayer begins by centering hope in God's eternal nature as our sovereign creator and refuge. Moses then guides us to consider our mortality honestly, acknowledging both life's brevity and God's righteous anger toward sin. Finally, this biblical pattern for prayer calls us to pray with courage—asking for wisdom to number our days, relief from affliction through the promised resurrection, and meaning in our work as we await Christ's return and the restoration of all things. ★ Support this podcast ★

Expository Reading and Pastoral Prayer - Psalm 78:65-72
Send me a text – I always love hearing from you! ✨What happens when someone who seemingly has it all—power, wealth, divine favor—falls into devastating sin? King David's story might be thousands of years old, but his prayer of repentance in Psalm 51 offers timeless wisdom for anyone who has ever strayed from their path. This episode delves into the heart of Psalm 51 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." David wasn't asking for minor improvements but total transformation. He recognized that only God could make something entirely new from his broken life.David's prayer reminds us that no matter how far we've fallen, restoration is possible. The guilt and shame that come with sin act as wrecking balls in our lives, but forgiveness brings joy that the world simply cannot provide.Whether you're facing your own moral failures or simply need reassurance that grace exists even in your darkest moments, this episode offers hope through ancient words that still resonate today. Cecil Maranville discusses Psalm 5:1-3—“Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.”
A few months ago, I released a podcast episode where I invited listeners into a time of guided prayer called imaginative prayer—a practice that helps us encounter God in a more personal, embodied way. Since then, I've heard from so many listeners asking for more episodes like that one. So today, I wanted to offer another time of guided prayer. This form of contemplative prayer dates back the early church mothers and fathers. When we engage in this kind of prayer, we use our imaginations to place ourselves within a scene from Scripture. I hope you'll join me as we walk onto the scene of Psalm 23 and ask the Spirit to speak to us through this story. Sunday October 5, 2025. Jesus' Prayer Book: Studies in Psalms. "Hear My PrayerP," a sermon on Psalm 17 from Dr. Sean Lucas.
Scripture: David's Psalms. This is the final teaching in the “David…and the Heart of God” series. We will explore David's Psalms today. In 2 Samuel 23:1 we read that David is described as the sweet psalmist of Israel. David's psalms have influence and spoke to the hearts of people for millennia. C.S. Lewis said, “The most valuable thing the psalms do for me is to express that small delight in God which made David dance.” And Billy Graham said, “I used to read five psalms every day - that teaches me how to get along with God. Then I read a chapter of Proverbs every day and that teaches me how to get along with my fellow man.” 75 of the 150 Psalms were written by David. Some themes in David's Psalms with a few examples: Praise - Psalm 95:1-2, Psalm 57:9-11, Psalm 103:1-3. We are encouraged to begin everything with praise, it honors God and brings refreshment to our souls. Praise takes our eyes off ourselves and putts them on God. True meaning for life is found only in God our Savior. David teaches us to praise the Lord from the heart even when we feel like we're at the bottom of the pit, because God heals and His name is to be praised. Penitence - Psalm 32:1-2 & 5, Psalm 139:23-24, Psalm 51:1-2. David's psalms help us recognize we are spiritually poor and needy and we are to be humble before God because we are all sinners. David shows us words of confession for transgression because we can be confident that through faith in Christ, God forgives. Our sins are paid for through Jesus' sacrificial death. The Lord is merciful, He washes away our sin. Presence - Psalm 32:7, Psalm 145:18. God is near, He is present, we cannot flee from Him. His presence gives hope and healing. He is near to all who call Him. He is unfailingly present in our lives. Prayer - Psalm 25:4-5, Psalm 141, 2-4. Psalms are used for prayer, and are a good way to begin our day. They guide us in how to pray honestly before God and we see that through David's prayerful words we can draw near to the Lord. David's Psalms are filled with words asking the Lord for guidance, direction, strength against sin, power for the spiritual battle, and prayers seeking God and His face. Protection - Psalm:1 & 3, Psalm 18:1-2, Psalm 55:18 7 22. The Lord is our Protector and the One who defends us and we are to call upon Him. He is the Stronghold of our lives. God is our Rock, Shield, our Strength, our place of Refuge, our Fortress, our Deliverer. The Lord sustains us and He cares for us. Prophecy - Psalm 110:1, Psalm 22:1 & 16018 & 29-31. David spoke much prophecy about the coming Messiah. David shared prophetic words even about the day that Jesus would be on the cross a thousand years before Jesus' death. David understood prophetically the love of Jesus who would say, “It is finished.” And through prophetic understanding David saw the finished work of Christ. Pastor ends by encouraging us to read through David's Psalms this week: 2-9, 11-32, 34-41, 51-65, 68-70, 86, 95, 101, 103, 108-110, 122, 124, 131, 133, 138-145 Now What? In this sermon, guest speaker Todd Miles, encourages us to pray the imprecatory psalms and why Christian's should pray for God's justice.
There are countless sources of distress in our lives. External tragedies and brokenness that threaten our sense of well-being along with our inner sins that take away our peace. But we are not ones who face these things alone or without hope. We have a God we can turn to in our distress, a God who hears us and who comforts us as nothing and no one else can. In this psalm, David cries out to God in his distress. “His holy trust, his many conflicts, his great transgressions, his bitter repentance, and his deep distresses are all here;” comments Charles Spurgeon. In addition to being another acrostic psalm (with each line representing a letter from the Hebrew alphabet) this psalm contains a rhythm of movement between prayer and meditation on God's character. - Prayer – Psalm 25:1-7 - Meditation – Psalm 25:8-10 - Prayer – Psalm 25:11 - Meditation – Psalm 25:12-15 - Prayer Psalm 25:16-22This is a pattern we can copy to bring comfort and restored hope in the midst of our crying out to God in our distress. Prepare for this weeks teaching by reading Psalm 25.
