What do you do when you feel like you are sinking? Psalm 130 begins with a cry from the depths and becomes an invitation to wait for the Lord. This psalm teaches us how to pray honestly when we are overwhelmed by sin, sorrow, regret, or the brokenness of the world. It reminds us that if God kept a record of sins, none of us could stand, but with the Lord there is forgiveness. In this message, we explore what it means to wait on God with hope. Waiting is not passive resignation. It is active trust. Like watchmen waiting for the morning, we wait because we know the dawn will come. This sermon also points us to Jesus, who waited faithfully in the wilderness and trusted the Father where Israel failed. In Christ, we discover that God's redemption is not scarce or reluctant. It is plentiful.
This Sunday, Pastor Jeff continues our study of the book of Ruth with chapter 2, over the topic of waiting on the Lord. We all go through waiting seasons in life - it's not a matter of if, but when we'll encounter it! Being stuck in that holding pattern is never enjoyable, but the waiting always has a purpose! God has a lot to teach us and work in us during the waiting.

We are currently watching the incredible events unfolding in the Middle East, and they all point to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. But the larger and often overlooked picture is the instruction to wait upon the timing of the Lord, something not really talked about here in the closing moments of the Church Age.

The post Is It Okay to Take Action While Waiting on the Lord? appeared first on Straight Truth Podcast.
This week on the Straight Truth Podcast, Dr. Richard Caldwell and Dr. Josh Philpott discuss the practical application of waiting on the Lord. They clarify that biblical waiting is not a passive state but a dynamic exercise of faith involving active obedience and trust in God's sovereignty. The conversation addresses how believers should navigate major life decisions, such as marriage or employment, when specific Scripture verses do not dictate the outcome. Dr. Caldwell emphasizes that if a believer is submitted to Christ and saturated in the Word, they can trust their desires to align with God's will. The episode also touches on the tension between human responsibility and trusting God, illustrated by the necessity of providing for one's family while waiting for better opportunities, and concludes with an exhortation to leave justice in God's hands.

In this episode of Brothers Just Searching, we dive into 2 Peter 3:2–10. We discuss why believers should desire to read the Old Testament alongside the New Testament, showing how both work together to tell one unified story that brings the message of Christ to life. We also talk about Peter's warning that scoffers will arise—not only unbelievers, but even those who claim to be believers—questioning the truth and authority of Scripture. Using the flood as an example of God's past judgment, we reflect on Peter's reminder that the present world is reserved for a future judgment. Yet, at the heart of this passage is God's mercy: His patience is meant to lead people to repentance, because He does not want anyone to perish or spend eternity separated from Him.Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and follow us on Facebook also leave us a review If You Like To donate to this podcast you can through cashapp or email us at brothersjustsearchingpodcast@gmail.com for more infoAnything is appreciated Cashapp infoBJSmediaThis podcast is brought to you by BJS MEDIA. Pastors Caleb and Chrissy Cole share the Word for the Year for Project Church: Fresh Wind. From Acts 2 and the story of Pentecost, they call the church back to prayer, presence, and waiting on the Holy Spirit. This message teaches that before God moves us, He must first fill us, and that Fresh Wind softens hearts, renews passion, and aligns believers with God's mission. A call to enjoy God's presence, not just perform religion, and to make prayer the primary vision. Pastor Lindsay reflects on Simeon in Luke 2 and what it means to wait on the Lord with hope. In a world that hates waiting, Simeon shows us a holy, faithful kind of waiting, one rooted not in impatience or certainty of outcomes, but in trust that God is bringing comfort and salvation in His time. Exploring the biblical meaning of waiting (qavah), this sermon reminds us that waiting and hoping are deeply connected, and that God uses waiting seasons to develop our faith, not destroy it. Whether we are ending one year or entering a new one, this message invites us to wait with confidence, expectation, and hope, trusting that Jesus, the Light of the World, will come, just as He did for Simeon fmhouston.com

We've heard that God does his best work in the wilderness, and we believe that. But, that doesn't mean it's easy. And perhaps that's the point? You can't get the crown without the prison. It's not punishment, it's preparation.
Luke 2:25-32Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”
Strength is needed for exploits, and the key to strength is waiting on the Lord. In this message, we see the impact of strength, as well as the various dimensions of waiting on the Lord - including waiting at the place of prayer and fasting, dwelling in His presence, listening for His voice, and stillness.
Building a life of order means more than tidying your house. It is time to embrace apostolic structure. Dr. Gabriel Allen Powell takes listeners on a journey through the story of the Church of Philippi, using the example of Lydia and the early believers to challenge modern disciples to assess their own lives for order and discipline.Whether discussing the importance of establishing spiritual altars at home, embracing correction from trusted leaders, or cultivating structure in every area of life, this message is a call to action for believers ready to experience breakthrough by getting their lives in order.Support the showText encounteratl to 94000 to stay up-to-date on all things Encounter.Worship with EncounterSundays at 11 AM ET | Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ETSupport EncounterText egive to 77977 Connect with EncounterFacebook | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | WebsiteConnect with Dr. GabeInstagram | YouTube | Website
