Cranky & Rant sample and rate all kinds of whiskey from Scotch, Bourbon, American, Irish and Japanese whiskies. Built on our 30 plus year friendship, we banter about any and everything that comes to mind while drinking some of our favorite whiskey berverages and give our humble opinions on all aspects of the liquid, from the Packaging, Color, Nose, Palate and Finish. We just try to have fun regardless of the whiskey.
Our first Foray into Penelope bourbons, named after one of the owners new born daughter. This was a nice surprise, a smooth and full bodied whiskey with lots of depth and character. Tune in to hear the final judgement !
Had to do some convincing to get Rant to try some TX, we have enjoyed whiskey form the Great State of Texas in the past and I had the Blended Bourbon before and really liked it. So we both were pleasantly surprised this had more to offer then we thought. So head to Texas with us and see what TX Straight Bourbon Whiskey is all about!!
Was hoping this was not just another Celebrity gimmick whiskey. Aged to the Supergroup Metallica's special playlist consisting of their songs chosen by the band to "Help" age the juice to perfection, I think possibly the new Master Blender and the Willetts influence might have something to offer as well. Have a listen to see the final results, ratings, honest opinions and overall experience with this rye! As always we enjoyed the time recording and talking whiskey, have a listen and let us know what your thoughts!
Rant was itching for a good scotch, did we find the one to scratch that itch? Tune in to see if Aberlour 12yr was the one he has hoped for. Regardless of outcome it's always fun on Whiskey Night!!
We have been on a scotch spree as of late, especially Cranky, so we found this Loch Lamond 18yr neither of us had heard about or really seen until now. A pleasant surprise for our first Podcast of 2022. So just sit back, listen and enjoy. Thanks
Another foray into the world of Johnnie Walker, our 3rd blended scotch whisky from Master Blender Jim Beverage, and another great whisky. 18 has a bit more iodine and smoke then Gold or Blue just adding to their different styles, the Striding Man has walked himself right into our hearts in 2021. We touch on evolution, apple TV show, and other random topics, its been awhile so we hope you enjoy this episode. Cheers!!
Rant and I thought we would try something a little different and talk about a little gift giving for those college graduates and the special Dad's in your life, those that love whiskey and those just starting to enjoy whiskey. We cover the major styles of whiskey from Rye, Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, Exotic and American that we tried to base off of availability and price. We hope you enjoy our suggestions!
Going back to Ireland with this traditional single pot still, triple distilled Irish Whiskey, Redbreast from top to bottom is one of the great whiskey houses in the world, and we love to visit this iconic brand when we can. Fun episode but Cask Strength catches up to you quickly and we got on a bit of a ramble at the end but it happens! We hope you enjoy the whiskey and the podcast!
Our second foray into Texas and we hit upon another great whiskey, not for the faint of heart this big bold profile was complex and unique, we struggled a bit with profile but it was a ton of fun, Enjoy An thanks for tuning in! Cheers my Friends!!
In this show we traveled to the orient in search of exotic flavors and unique expressions....Hwo am I kidding we just wanted to try something fun and new and Hibiki Harmony fit the bill, it was a great surprise and a great whiskey from top to bottom. Thanks for tuning in, Cheers!!
The Beginning of 'The Crocigator' we had so much fun with this episode, we got sideways in so many respects, got off track many times, got lost a few times, but it was a great rye whiskey and we let it be known! Pull up a seat and have a listen to Cranky & Rant go off the rails! Cheers and thanks for tuning in!!!
Rant and Cranky give their 2020 Whiskies of the year as well as 2020 Distillery of the year, The WOTY had to be one we had on Whiskey Night, the DOTY had to a brand we had multiple whiskies of and did at least one Whiskey night episode with. Let Us know your 2020 Whiskey of the year on Instagram! Cheers
We randomly picked this out from the name and Rant LOVEs Las Vegas so we were in on this bourbon. This Full bodied Las Vegas Nevada no mess around Bourbon was fun, great packaging and taste profile. As usual we were all over the map on topics and whiskey but thats our way! Thanks for tuning in, Cheers!
This is a special double episode where we taste and review Noah's Mill another fine whiskey from the Willet Distillery, coming in at a 114 proof was exceptionally smooth, and though we were not impressed with the packaging it was a worthy purchase. Then delve into a holiday or new bar buying guide or some suggestions to start your whiskey collection with, we had fun as usual and hope you all enjoy it, Cheers!
Our third Compass Box, while we love the brand this was not the best expression we have had, We are glad we tried it and Cranky enjoyed it much more then Rant. As always we still had a great time, Enjoy and thanks for tuning in!
Rant and I had our first face to face Whiskey Night and it was a blast, Great whiskey, great package, our first Willet product and we were impressed and plan to visit another in their lineup soon! Thanks for Listening, Any feedback is welcome, Cheers!
We loved The Spaniard by Compass Box so much we wanted to revisit the brand so we picked up The Spice Tree and were not disappointed, while maybe not living up to The Spaniard, Spice tree was excellent and a worthy whiskey, albeit a Scotch Whiskey, companion for the night Thank you for tuning in!
After much debate we headed to the great state of Texas to discover some of their emerging whiskey scene, we chose Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon. We were impressed with this one, great all around tasting and discussion. Drop us a line to tell us what you thought and as always thanks for tuning in! Cheers!
We wanted to get back to Bourbon and having tried some of the other Jefferson products in the past and enjoyed them. So we dove back into the brand and decided on Very Old Small Batch at 90.2 proof from Kentucky. We walk through the whole process and share stuff along the way! Hopefully we get better as we go along, thanks for joining us on this journey, Cheers!
Our first double whisky night, our first whiskey is Crooked Water Old Hell Roaring straight bourbon whiskey hailing from Minnesota, very interesting profile, excellent packaging and unique. Our second whiskey is all the way from Belgium, Gouden Carolus is primarily know as a brewery but the have produced a excellent Single Malt with distinct cooperage and lineage. We hope you enjoy
This is where Whiskey Night went from a joke to reality, our first official recording done on a cell phone app, quality may not be the best but we had a lot of fun. We were drinking Rabbit Hole Cavehill Boubon from Kentucky, fun packaging, nice liquid and an all around good time. We hope you enjoy!
