In this episode Alison speaks with Jennifer Doty about navigating career change after an unexpected layoff from a long MetLife career. They talk about how she reflected on what she wanted her next chapter to look and feel like, defined her non-negotiables, and used networking to find a new role that fit her priorities and strengths.A major theme of the conversation is what it means to do many things while still prioritizing yourself. Jennifer shares how she moved through fear, questioned old beliefs about work and money, and learned to trust her own judgment rather than looking for validation from others. They also talk about her personal practices for staying grounded, including journaling, meditation, gratitude, and reading. She describes these as daily habits that help her manage her mindset and stay connected to what matters most. Finally, they cover her side business with LivePure, a nutrition and supplementation company. Jennifer explains how she started using the products, later chose to build the business part-time, and now uses her leadership and relationship-building skills to create residual income while continuing her full-time work.HIGHLIGHTS:2:47 Choosing the Right Fit7:01 Doing More at Once12:57 Investing in Wellness15:07 Relationships Build Business17:43 Daily Practices Matterconnect with Jennifer:website: https://jenniferdoty.comSPONSOR:Cellev8Discount code: THEALISONK ALISON'S LINKS:Website | Facebook | Twitter | InstagramGET MY FREE 4 part Pop-up Podcast SeriesJOIN Borderless Hybrid Innovators FB GroupINNOVATION AVENUE: Fitness and Self-Care Revolution
Eric Stein, chief investment officer at Voya Investment Management, says that investors can expect interest rates — particularly on longer-term bonds — will keep rising, but those higher reates "will lead to lower rates because you will see a response on the demand side whether it's through the consumer or through the [capital expenditures] cycle." Stein says that if "demand destruction" doesn't slow the economy too much, recession remains avoidable, particularly in the muted economic cycles that the U.S. has been going through in recent years. In The NAVigator segment, Bryce Doty, senior portfolio manager at Sit Investment Associates, also says that rates will be coming down, with his estimation being that it happens by the fall because "the worst is over as far as yields going up." Doty says that if oil prices stay below $110 per barrel, it's viewed as inflationary; above that level, "We have a problem, and so does the rest of the world." He says central banks will solve that problem by cutting rates to "save economies from disaster," and likes two-year TIPS, municipal bonds and high-yield corporate bonds to ride out the storm. Plus, Mark Hamrick, senior economic analyst and Washington bureau chief at BankRate.com — who recently launched The Hamrick Brief on Substack to give his take on current financial events — discusses mortgage rates and inflation both reaching recent highs, the historical context of those numbers and how, why and when conditions may ease and change.
Bryce Doty, Senior Portfolio Manager at Sit Investment Associates, says that "the worst is over as far as yields going up," noting that the next shift could be down, but he calls the conditions "tricky" and emphasizes that investors "need to be in the right part of the curve." Doty's case hinges on oil prices; if oil stays below $110, it's viewed as inflationary, but above that level "we have a problem, and so does the rest of the world." At that point, central banks will have to cut rates to "save economies from disaster." Doty, whose team manages $2.7 billion in closed-end fund-of-funds for separate accounts, likes two-year TIPS, municipal bonds and high-yield corporate bonds. He also discusses the IPO market, closed-end rights offerings and the quality of private credit investments.
An RPG with a title like Ninjas and Super Spies might sound too good to be true. Anyway, Seanbaby, Merrit K. and special guest Eddie Doty "play" it. That's the show. FUCK YEAH!

He last month led Siena University to the NCAA men's college basketball tournament for the first time since 2010, by way of capturing the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship. He was the MAAC Tournament MVP, after having been the first Siena University player in five years to earn First Team All-MAAC honors. He also set a record for the most points scored by a Siena Saints player through their first two seasons. Earlier this month he announced that he is transferring and will go play at Syracuse University. Before all that he had a record-setting high school career and even starred on the Nike EYBL circuit for the Albany City Rocks.

Generic medicines account for the vast majority of prescriptions in the U.S., yet much of their underlying supply chain remains heavily dependent on foreign-sourced active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). As concerns around drug shortages and supply chain resilience intensify, attention is shifting upstream toward how APIs are manufactured, where they are sourced, and what it will take to rebuild domestic production capacity. At the same time, advanced manufacturing approaches like continuous flow are gaining traction as a way to improve efficiency, safety, and cost competitiveness in a traditionally low-margin market. In this episode of Off Script, we spoke with Brian Doty, vice president of R&D and programs at the API Innovation Center (APIIC), about the structural challenges facing generic drug manufacturing and the role advanced technologies could play in addressing them. The conversation explores why API supply is often the cause of downstream drug shortages, the technical and economic limitations of traditional batch processing, and how continuous manufacturing can reduce process steps, improve control, and enable safer production. Doty also discusses the practical barriers to adoption as well as the growing role of FDA engagement programs and policy incentives in accelerating change.

He manifested the external success, checked all the boxes, heard everyone tell him his life was perfect. But at every peak, he found nothing but disappointment. He's seen destroyed marriages, damaged relationships with his kids, and ignored everyone in his life while obsessively focusing on goals. The brutal truth he learned: you can manifest everything on your vision board and still feel like a prisoner because you're the only one holding the key to that cell. The real work isn't about getting more, it's about understanding whether you're operating from fear or love. When fear drives you, your sympathetic nervous system keeps you in survival mode. When love drives you, you activate the parasympathetic system and suddenly you're open, generous, present. That's not motivational fluff, that's neuroscience meeting ancient wisdom. Here's what makes this conversation so powerful: Dr. Doty doesn't pretend positive thinking solves everything. He acknowledges that structural barriers exist, that poverty is incredibly hard to escape, that your circumstances matter. But within whatever situation you're in, you still have the power to choose your response. The Stoics knew it, Epictetus taught it from slavery: you can't control your external environment, but you can control how you react. The greatest cause of suffering isn't lack of achievement, it's attachment and craving. When you focus only on reaching the goal with no awareness of the process or the people around you, you end up hollow even when you win. The shift isn't about manifesting harder or wanting more intensely. It's about realizing that until you address the insecurity and shame driving your desires, external success will never fill that void. This is the conversation that breaks through the surface level manifestation talk and gets to what actually changes your life from the inside out.Sign up for the Greatness newsletter: http://www.greatness.com/newsletter Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Dr. James Doty achieved every material goal he set as a 12-year-old kid in poverty—the Rolex, the Porsche, the mansion overlooking the ocean—only to realize he'd built a prison of his own insecurity. Most people stumble through manifestation inefficiently because they're operating from fear, shame, and limiting beliefs that were wired into them before they were ten years old. The real power of manifestation isn't about attracting more stuff—it's about understanding the neuroscience of how your brain networks work together when you shift from sympathetic nervous system activation (fear and survival) to parasympathetic engagement (openness and creativity). When you stop chasing hedonic happiness and start living with purpose that serves others, your brain's executive control network, attention network, and salience network align to create synchronicities that feel like magic. The key is learning to manifest from love instead of fear, from service instead of selfishness, and from compassion for yourself instead of that relentless inner critic telling you you're not enough.Dr. Doty's books:Into the Magic ShopMind MagicIn this episode you will:Break through the myth that external achievements will heal internal shame and finally feel worthyMaster the difference between hedonic happiness (pleasure-seeking that leaves you empty) and eudaimonic happiness (purpose-driven fulfillment that lasts)Transform your relationship with failure by understanding how childhood baggage controls every decision and relationship you have as an adultDiscover why manifesting from fear and insecurity limits your brain's ability to create what you actually needUncover the neuroscience of why your sympathetic nervous system blocks manifestation and how to shift to parasympathetic engagementFor more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1868For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960More SOG episodes we think you'll love:Jim CurtisDr. Daniel AmenRhonda Byrne Get more from Lewis! Bryce Doty, senior portfolio manager at Sit Investment Associates, says that history has shown that nearly every new Federal Reserve chairman does "something dumb" when they first get the job. With Jerome Powell soon to be out as Fed chair, Doty says the central bank is in a tricky place, where it could make a cut before the change and have the next chairman come in anxious to cut further, making a policy mistake that hurts the market, but creates buying opportunities for investors willing to ride it out. He's not the only one on today's show fearful of a Fed mistake, as that is the nightmare scenario for Dustin Reid, chief investment strategist at Mackenzie Investments, who says in the Big Interview that the economy has gotten to a point where further moves forward may have some negative impacts, hurting credit markets, raising more potential for a downturn and recession and, generally, not providing the classic economic boosts that frequently drive the markets higher. In the "Talking Technicals" interview, Gregory Harmon, president at Dragonfly Capital Management, says he is expecting a small-cap rally to lead the market higher into year-end, and he says that the large-cap stocks — as measured by the Standard & Poor's 500 — will follow suit, and that the question will be whether the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite comes along for the ride. "Technicals are all pointing higher, earnings are doing fantastic," Harmon says, noting that it would take "an unexpected crisis" to derail the underlying trends pointing "strongly to the upside" right now. Plus, Chuck discusses a visit to the bank to grab some cash that was met with an unusual question from a teller, a query that he says is a reason why consumers may want to have more face-to-face relationships with financial advisers of all stripes, rather than doing everything online.
Bryce Doty, senior portfolio manager at Sit Investment Associates, says that "every time a new Fed chair comes in, they do something dumb," and with Jerome Powell on his way out as the chairman of the Federal Reserve, he expects some chaos that will create opportunities, potentially as soon as the next chairman of the central bank is announced. "The interpretation — and mis-interpretation — of what's going to happen is going to be crazy," Doty says, but that "complete mess" should create opportunity that turns out well for investors who ride it out and who "don't expect logic and reason to rule the day, at least for a quarter or two." Doty also talks about where he is moving money during tax-loss selling season and the changing discount picture as the market has returned to record highs.

This is one of the most memorable conversations I have had on the podcast. With a heavy heart today, I am re-releasing his episode in honor of Dr. James Doty on neuroscience, manifestation, and the power of focusing your mind and heart on what you know is possible in your life.Dr. Doty passed away on July 16, 2025, from medical complications following surgery. This episode was recorded before his death and remains one of our most beloved conversations. He was truly an incredible human being who believed deeply in the power of the human spirit, mind, and soul.Dr. Doty was a highly sought-after speaker and podcast guest, and he didn't have to say yes to coming on the Cracking Open podcast. But he told me that among the 300 emails he received the day he got my request, he felt it was a "yes" to crack open—and I will forever be grateful.Dr. James Doty was a:World-renowned Stanford neurosurgeon and neuroscientist, philanthropist, and leading researcher in the science of compassionFormer CEO of Accuray (NASDAQ: ARAY), where he helped develop CyberKnife technology, saving countless lives worldwideFounder of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University School of Medicine, where His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the founding benefactorNew York Times and international bestselling author of Into the Magic Shop and his most recent book, Mind Magic: The Neuroscience of Manifestation, which became a top-selling book on Amazon in multiple categoriesIn this episode, Dr. Doty shares his journey from growing up in a tumultuous home to discovering the power of self-agency and the science of manifestation. He opens up about his successes and failures, his struggles with choosing to live life from his ego or his heart, and how much he appreciates being called out on his shortcomings. Ultimately, he discovered that "possessions, position, and power have nothing to do with wisdom, insight, or self-awareness."Dr. Doty and I dive into the science of manifestation and explore actionable steps you can take to manifest the life of your dreams. We explore how therapy can yield incredible results when the client is willing to confront life's challenges and the shadow side of their personality. When we can illuminate the darker, often hidden parts of ourselves, we can become more integrated and whole as individuals.Whether you have heard this episode before or it's your first time, I invite you to listen to Dr. Doty with an open heart and carry his wisdom forward. To honor Dr. Doty's legacy and life, you can visit his memorial page here: https://everloved.com/life-of/james-doty/
