    Saying NO...Nicely!

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 14, 2020 19:44

Saying NO, nicely is an important skill and I've found an easy tool to help you do this every single time! In the Introduction of The Power of a Positive No, William Ury says the following...In the introduction to the book, the author explains that there are three responses to someone who asks us to do something we don’t want to do.Accommodate: We say Yes when we want to say No. This usually comes when we value the relationship of the person making the request above the importance of our own interests.Attack: We say no poorly. This is a result of valuing our own interests above the importance of the relationship. Sometimes we are fearful or resentful of the request and overreact to the person asking.Avoidance: We say nothing at all. Because we are afraid of offending the other party, we say nothing, hoping the problem will go away. It rarely does. There is a solution and this is how I can now say no, and feel good about it, listen to my podcast to find out the steps I take and you can too. Remember, saying yes to someone else is saying no to you, a family member or your business. Saying no is saying YES to a higher priority. Remember this quote by Warren Buffet..."The difference between successful people and really successful people is really successful people say no to almost everything.
