He takes us from the country of Virginia to Iowa and gives us insight into how he became a single dad. To Brandon fatherhood is being the pillar of the family. You have to want to be a father and take care of your kids. Brandon didn't let a "no" stop him when it came to being in the lives of his kids. He did the paperwork on his own and fought for his rights as a father. A lot of wisdom to take from this conversation.Be sure to let us know your biggest takeaways! If you like this video, please give it a like, subscribe to our channel and share it with someone you know! In this fourth episode, we're talking to Gerald about everything from being more than a babysitter and a deadbeat dad, how to parent when you're deployed, blended families and not taking being a parent for granted. At the end of it all, the biggest judges and reflections on who you were as a father are going to be your kids. What will they say about you?
Our guest this week gave some solid advice: Always do right by your kids. It's no secret that we've been raised by a generation that maybe wasn't exactly politically correct in their approach & conversations. That often meant that kids were not always allowed to have a voice. At the very least it certainly wasn't a priority and the conversation surrounding being sensitive to others was viewed as soft. As a Black father, it's okay to want to give your kids something different (and maybe even better), but in order to give your kids that, it will require you to grow as both a man and as a father. One way we can encourage that growth is by being open with each other and by having those difficult conversations. We're a community and the Just My Baby Daddy podcast wants to continue those conversations about what we go through as Black dads. In this third episode, Brian teaches us a lot about maturity and growth as a Black dad. Take a listen & let us know your reflections in the comments.Be sure to subscribe & be a part of our community. If you have any questions you want us to answer on upcoming episodes during our "Daddy Knows Best" segment, please send those questions to contact@justmybabydaddy.com
We're back for Episode 2 and our first guest - Ed. Ed's story teaches us a lot of lessons & gives us insight about fatherhood. Fatherhood is now always clean-cut. Trauma. Loss & grief. Cancer. It will often require you to learn how to love different and unconditionally. There is no book on how to be a great dad. You'll make mistakes. But it's your job to learn from them. To be a father is humbling.Be sure to send us your questions via DM or at contact@justmybabydaddy.com.
Black fathers get talked about a lot, but they don't always do the talking themselves. Aj & Eli sit down to talk about why creating a platform for Black dads to tell their stories is important. Black fathers have feelings & by creating a safe place to talk about their experiences, we're creating a blueprint for what it means to be a father. Black fathers matter.
