Jesus said that if it were possible the very elect will be deceived. There is an important revelation in these words. It can and must be impossible for us to be deceived. This Sunday we will begin a new series which will analyze what Jesus said in context and learn how to assure that it is impossible to be deceived.
Have you ever thought about the word "transmission"? If your auto's transmission has ever gone out, you know it is very bad (and expensive news). The transmission takes the power created by the engine's power plant and "transmits" it to the tires so the automobile becomes mobile. I'm not a mechanic but I believe the transmission accomplishes its mission by aligning gears. When that alignment is right, things start moving. Likewise, when fellow believers align right, spiritual motion starts. This Sunday we will make sure your spiritual transmission is working right.
Who am I to you? As I begin the final message in the "Resolutions that Heal" series this question comes into focus. This is a question we need answered by everyone close to us. We need to know what roles we play in each other's lives. What responsibilities to have for each other? I will be teaching on the six roles that those close to us must play in our lives.
This Sunday we will continue to look at resolutions that heal and how to make the right re-connections. This week's message will teach you how to connect with the person God created you to be. Living out this identity will bring about fruitfulness.
Resolutions that heal involve four things; the right connections, the right disconnections, the right re-connections and the determination to live out these three. This Sunday's message will teach you how to connect with the person God created you to be. Living out this identity will bring about the fruitfulness we were designed for.
Have you ever experienced a setback? Of course, we all have. But did you know the quality of our lives is greatly determined by the way we deal with setbacks? Counselors call it the ability to metabolize loss. In this metabolism we use what is helpful and discard the rest. This process takes place in the spiritual community. It is in these close relationships that losses are put in perspective and kept from causing long-term dysfunction. This Sunday's message will deal the how we need to be connected to the "safe circle" so we can deal with the challenges of life in ways that assure that our lives remain fruitful.
You've made connections. You made disconnections. This Sunday we will learn the importance of making re-connections. There are critical connections in our lives that need to be made in a totally different way. These new ways of relating to certain people will be essential to our fruitfulness. We're digging deep.
Are you suffering from disconnect? Or perhaps you are suffering from the lack of disconnection. As we continue learn about "Resolutions that Heal" we need to know what disconnections to make. Our lives are constantly being pressured by the agendas of others. At times this is positive. At other times it is crippling. Sunday's message will help you understand what agendas you need to disconnect from.
Let me introduce you to you. You are a person marked by "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." How accurate is this description? If it doesn't seem to fit very well, help is on the way. This Sunday we will examine the first of four resolutions that bring healing and fruitfulness.
Sunday we will continue the series called “Resolutions that heal”. We need to know that healing requires a commitment to the healing process. Can love, joy, peace, patience and the rest of the Spirit’s fruit ever show up in my life? Yes, but I must commit to the path the Spirit has chosen for me. Healing comes to those who refuse to allow their present brokenness to become their future standard of living. If you are ready to make some resolutions that heal.
In Matthew chapter 9, when Jesus saw the crowds, He saw the need and immediately expressed the urgency for laborers to address the need. The size of the crowd wasn’t the goal. The size of the mission is what had Christ’s attention. Sunday morning we will take a closer look.
Expectations often lead to disappointment. Resolutions usually end in failure. High hopes set the stage for low results. What if it could all be different? What if we made resolutions that truly brought about changes that lead to healing and wholeness? What if the coming months ushered in a new level of living? What if the things that hold you down are finally evicted from your life? All this is possible and within reach, but you will need to do something unprecedented in your life. You'll need to make resolutions that heal. I am extremely excited about a brand new series the Lord has given me for the opening weeks of 2020. There is one big condition to making resolutions that heal-- you must be willing to do things differently, to think about things differently. With the Bible as our guide, we can make 2020 the year of wholeness. We'll get started this Sunday
Millions of dollars are being spent and thousands of meetings are taking place this month in the name of Christmas. Have you ever wondered what Jesus thinks of all this? Let's take a shot at it. Let's consider how Jesus might want our Christmas celebration to take place. In Sunday's message I will be exploring the kind of Christmas I think Jesus would design for you.
Back on the first of September we began a journey through the biblical teachings on masculinity and femininity. This Sunday we will complete that journey with a final message on the qualities of the biblical woman. In a way, this study of the biblical woman comes down to these last points-- everything else was simply laying the foundation for these vital qualities to sit on. Don't miss this important conclusion to what I hope has been a very relevant series. -Pastor Jeff
This Sunday we will begin the final part of the "Biblical Woman" series. My study of the New Testament has revealed five fundamental qualities of a godly woman. Just two more messages in this important series
This Sunday we will continue to take on the controversial issue of wives submitting to their husbands. What does the Bible really teach about the New Testament structure of the home?
It's about to get real up in here! This Sunday we will take on the controversial issue of wives submitting to their husbands-- what does the Bible really teach? In this message we will dig deep into the biblical text and find the real message about the New Testament structure of the home.
What happens when your sin has pronounced judgment on your life? The verdict is guilty, and the punishment is death. But wait, sin does not have the last word on your destiny. This Sunday in the series, "Lessons from the Ladies," a woman caught in adultery has a message for us-- Jesus has the last word on our future. Don't miss this relevant message on grace's power over guilt.
Sunday I will continue the Series "The Biblical Woman." We continue to look at the female heroes of the Four Gospels. Jesus transformed the cultural views about women by doing great things through them. Don't miss Sunday as we continue to learn "lessons from the ladies."
We’re back. Last week Vivian and I were on vacation visiting relatives in Arkansas. We’re excited to be back home and looking forward to worshiping with you Sunday. I will continue the series on the biblical woman. This Sunday we examine how Jesus defeated oppression against women.
“Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” Jesus asked His disciples these questions after rebuking the wind and calming the sea. After performing many miracles and investing hours of teachings, Jesus seemed to expect more faith and less fear. Fear is the great enemy of faith, but our faith can overcome fear. Sunday morning, we will look to God’s Word for the solution.
In a culture filled with confusion about gender roles, the Bible has a plan for men and women. This Sunday we will begin to examine what it means to be a Biblical Woman.
The spiritual concepts I will present in this message apply to all Believers, but Paul thought it important to emphasize them when describing the man of God. All of us need to understand that we stand corruptible and corrupt. For us to be anything but corrupt, we need a miracle of transformation from God Himself. Jesus said that in the last days the very elect would be deceived (Matthew 24:24). Our goal is to make sure deception is not possible. Likewise, men, we must make sure that we are spiritually incorruptible. Join me Sunday for more on this.
God has given His men the ability to make a difference in the world, the church and the family. A husband and father has been called by God to be the voice of wisdom and spiritual insight to those he influences. This Sunday I will continue the series on "Non-Toxic Masculinity" by taking a look at how to be "A Man of Wisdom."
Does the Bible really designate the husband as the leader of the home? What if he isn't a good leader? Here's the good news-- God can turn any man into a non-toxic leader. This Sunday my new series on masculinity will reveal the seven things that make a man a biblical leader.
Lately the term "Toxic Masculinity" has become part of the political vocabulary. The definition changes drastically depending on who is using it, but generally it is used to condemn the traditional idea of the "macho man." Beginning this Sunday, I will be borrowing the term to take a biblical look at what it means to be a man. The modern American man lives in a day of great confusion as to what it means to be a man. In this series we will leave the cultural and political opinions behind and learn what the biblical man is. There is definitely a form of toxic masculinity that is devastating to spiritual life. We will confront this with God's Word and find our way to "non-toxic masculinity."
Ever take the wrong exit and get caught up in traffic heading the wrong way? Sometimes life can be this way. We exit when we should have stayed on the freeway. Sunday we will conclude the current series on God's will by looking at "exits" we must avoid at all cost.
God's will can survive our failures. God is in the restoration process-- grace is still amazing. This Sunday we will continue the series on "The Dynamics of God's Will" by learning how to come back from our failures.
If God had His way, everyone would obey Him and together we would live out His plan, but this isn't the real world. In the real world, where freewill and sin exists, the actions of other people interfere with God's plans for our lives. I call this, "The Detoured Perfect Will of God." When we are on this road, the sins of other people place us in situations that God never wanted for us, but He is faithful and will turn this detour into something wonderful. This Sunday I will preach on how to navigate the detoured will of God.
In the vast expanse of God's wisdom, there is a specific plan for your life. It is specific down to the very details of your daily life. The One who knit you together in your mother’s womb has not ignored the rest of your life. Yet for all of this, God will only invite you to accept it. You and I will only know God's plan, if we willfully accept it and cooperate with God as He implements it in our lives. As we press toward a better understanding of God's will, we need to understand the four potential “paths” in life. Join me Sunday for more on the first path.
Do you feel that the description of your life has a "but" that seems to negate everything else? You are a person of great potential, "BUT" there is a problem that gets all the attention and diminishes your impact. Sunday we will travel back to 2 Kings and examine the miracle in Naaman's life. He was a great warrior, but he had leprosy. The "great warrior" part seemed to get lost in the "leprosy" problem. We are going to gain some great insights on how to deal with the biggest problem in our lives.
God requires that we separate from the darkness before He can unite with us. The church world seldom finds the biblical balance here. We either become part of the world or isolate completely from the world—neither is biblical. Sunday we will discuss how to choose your path—and still be following God’s plan.
The Bible says that Believers provoke each other toward love and good deeds. The truth is that when we live out our faith, we are inspiring to others. This is one of the great aspects of the Kingdom Community. Inspired people are happier and more fruitful than others. Sunday's message will focus on how we can live lives that inspire.
We are not alone. God is with us and we have each other. This is the message of the Bible. God places us into His Community, the Kingdom Community. One of the basic functions of His Community is to bring relief to those who are suffering or in need. Don't miss the study of how fellowship works in the Body of Christ. It's a holiday weekend, so if you are in town, please make sure you are in church.
Are you trying to fit in? Do you wonder why you can't seem to find your purpose in life? Have you realized that God's perfect will for your life is connected to His will for others? This Sunday I will continue our study of "Kingdom Community" examining how the connection we have with one another is part of the connection we have with God's purpose for our lives.
Our culture dreams about a community that will not be divided by petty jealousy, that will not be repulsed by human frailty and will find reconciliation. And yet, at every attempt, our world is finding this dream unattainable. Communities are fracture by petty jealousy, spiteful deeds and relational friction. I believe the Church is the hope for the world’s dream of community. The greatest evangelism strategy in the world is not bulk mailings, social media or crusades with celebrity “Christians.” The world is looking for community—Jesus said they should find it among His disciples. When our love for each other is greater than our conflicts, we are witnesses of Jesus’ community. -Pastor Jeff
1) Build yourself up in your most holy faith. 2) Praying in the Holy Spirit 3) Staying in the love of God 4) Waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
There is something so profound, that most Believers struggle to embrace it—it is simply this: God does not think like us, and we do not think like God. Truly, God is not who we think He is-- God is who he says He is. This is never more true than when you look at the future as it is revealed in the Bible. In order to embrace what is going to happen, God will need to change the way we think; we will get started on that transformation Sunday
A prospective buyer took a walk to survey a parcel of land he was thinking about buying. In a remote spot on the land, concealed perfectly, he noticed a shiny object. A little digging and poking around exposed a massive cache of gold coins. He carefully closed up the hole and left. The price of the land was too expensive for his cash and borrowing power, so he sold everything he had to buy the land. He knew the land contained more than enough to compensate for his sacrifice. Jesus said that this is how the Kingdom of God works. We will be discussing the value of God's Kingdom Sunday.
In part 7 of "The Kingdom of Heaven is Near" we pivot to the subject of the earthly battle that rages between God's Kingdom and the kingdom of darkness.
Am I getting it right? Is this one of the most relevant questions in life? Last Sunday we began to biblical search for the answer to this question. We learned that getting it right begins with getting our spirit right through genuine new birth, and that the grace that saves us must become the grace that flows through us. Sunday we will continue this exploration of spiritual morality by examining what God considers Kingdom morality.
You don't need to be great-- God's greatness is more than enough! I am still celebrating the strong sense of God's presence we had in the service Sunday. God wants us to know that His power is available ... here's my suggestion on how to receive it into your life: Celebrate the power that is already transforming your life. Understand that the power of God is a work of grace-- you don't need to be something special. Understand that His power works through us unless we resist it-- we do this by demanding control. God's power is so potent that only He can track its progress-- let Him keep score. Get to know the King through His Word and prayer.
The work of God is accomplished by the power of God-- nothing else will do. We must understand that God's plans for His Kingdom include putting His power in you so you can effectively do His will. Sunday we will examine how and why God needs to make you a person of power.
Is there any royal blood in your veins? The Bible says we are a kingdom and priests to serve Him.You have been invited to participate in the life of His kingdom. In this sermon, we will continue the "Kingdom" series by examining how life in earthly part of God's kingdom works.
The Kingdom of Heaven is Near
I am so excited to start a new series this "Palm Sunday" and for the Easter Season. Jesus' first sermon was only a few words long, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." He warned His listeners that everything was about to change because of His life, death and resurrection. As we look back on the resurrection, it is critical that we understand how His Kingdom works and how we fit into it.
