Click here to learn more about The Handwritten Heritage Cookbook Starter Kit Welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!!! This is a very special episode of The Storied Recipe podcast! Rather than diving deep into one story, we're diving deep into one holiday - telling the story of Thanksgiving from the perspective of almost 30 families. I want to personally thank every single contributor for taking their time to make this episode for us. These vignettes, sometimes funny, often poignant, and so very relatable have cheered my Thanksgiving season and helped me slow down and remember, reflect, and above all choose gratitude this season. In fact, my original plan was to cram this episode in, almost as a bonus or extra episode, but the more I listened to your stories, the more I realized I wanted to lengthen this Thanksgiving season. We begin, surprisingly enough, not with an American, but with a Greek-Australian who reminds us that far, far from being a national holiday belonging to one or two countries, Thanksgiving is an ancient tradition. Practicing gratitude is a tenant, teaching, and calling of every religion, it is, in fact, a need of the human heart. Listen to The Thanksgiving Episode Now! Contributors share the things, big and small, for which they are thankful. “Beyond the sparkle of success lies the wisdom of gratitude, reminding us to connect with others, share our access, and amplify the collective strength of shared knowledge.” In this special season of Thanksgiving, many of us reflect on how we've been blessed in different aspects of our lives, from family and friendships to professional accomplishments. It helps us to pause for a moment, acknowledge the journey we've chosen, and appreciate the victories, big and small. However, some of us fail to recognize the little common things that contribute to our success and well-being, from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the countless small moments to the good health and safety we always enjoy without great effort. May this season remind us to number our blessings and cherish every opportunity we have to enjoy whatever things God has entrusted in our keeping. May we always choose to look more at the bright side of every situation, searching for opportunities in every challenge, lessons in every loss, and gratitude in every circumstance. In this episode with Dr. Derrick Burgess, his family, and his Podcast Team Members, we will discuss the essence of gratitude, reflecting on the impact it has had on his personal and professional journey. They will share insights into the challenges faced during transitions, the importance of family support, and discuss the sacrifices made by both himself and his loved ones in pursuit of growth and success. Tune in as we unfold the different things to be grateful for during this Thanksgiving season and explore the deeper meaning behind the journey of gratitude. “Part of my calling is to impact others to be able to show people what's possible because I know that many people don't see a physician who looks like me. They don't see sometimes what they feel could be a good career for them. They just don't know how to access it.”– Derrick Burgess Topics Covered: (00:00:00) Thanksgiving Season (00:02:20) The power of community and connections (00:03:28) What the future holds (00:04:05) The mission of TimeOut with the SportsDr. Podcast (00:04:31) Burgess family's personal thanksgivings (00:05:42) Thanksgiving from the podcast editor (00:06:18) Podcast Strategist and producer's Thanksgiving Key Takeaways: “Anytime transition occurs, it not only affects one person, it affects the whole body.” – Derrick Burgess “Many people only see the success of one person, but they don't see the sacrifice.”– Derrick Burgess “I am grateful for this podcast because it has given me knowledge not only about sports medicine but also about financial management, mental health, the importance of family, and having a support system.”– Princess Lyn Quitalig "We producers are just here, but without any content, we don't have anything to do and to work on so big hats off to Doctor Burgess for always showing up, always recording by himself or with others or with his family, that he has gotten to a point that it has become habitual for him." – Nilyn Matugas Connect with Dr. Derrick Burgess: Website: https://www.drderrickthesportsdr.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drderrickthesportsdr/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TimeOut.SportsDr LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/derrick-burgess-72047b246/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHGDu1zT4K_X6PnYELu8weg Email: thesportsdoctr@gmail.com This episode of TimeOut with the SportsDr. is produced by Podcast VAs Philippines - the team that helps podcasters effectively launch and manage their podcasts, so we don't have to. In this Thanksgiving Weekend Edition of the podcast, we are sharing with you the much anticipated interview with Actor, Author, Humanitarian, Entrepreneur & U.S. Senate Candidate Hill Harper. In this interview he shares not only what inspired him to leave his successful acting career to jump into the dirty world of politics, but what his vision is for the State of Michigan if he becomes its next duly elected senator. He emphasized and reemphasized one of his campaign promises, which is to put people over politics, which easily became one of the theme's for this week's podcast. We are excited to share with you this insightful interview from someone who we believe would bring a fresh perspective to Washington, put the people of this country, and more importantly, the people of the State of Michigan first. This is definitely an interview you don't want to miss! PLUS, in line with the theme for this Thanksgiving Season, we have dynamic Thought we intend to share entitled, "I'm Thankful." As we look throughout our world today, in the midst of the turmoil, and tragedy, in the midst of the peril and misfortune, we will have so much to be thankful for. So, as you enjoy the latter half of your Thanksgiving Weekend, we hope you take a minute to listen in on an interview we believe could certainly impact next year's Presidential Election Cycle in 2024. Happy Thanksgiving 2023! The EarthWorks Podcast team got together for a quick review of what the past season looked like to our agronomy team. We talked about the dry fall weather in parts of the country and a wonderful golf course association meeting that we attended a few weeks ago. It does seem that, post COVID, there is more participation in some of the association meetings across the country and we all agreed that's a good thing. One of our favorite clients had a few setbacks on a recent grow in because of high salt water usage. Sodic water can be the breaking point in a grow in, the seed will germinate but not long after that the new seedling is set back so we talked about how to avoid problems like this. There was a conversation on abiotic winter stress, and the concept of “days under ice”, and the best way to treat this issue. We enjoyed reviewing some of our observations of the year, but most importantly we wanted to express our Thanksgiving gratitude to all of our clients and podcast listeners.Visit EarthWorks at: https://www.earthworksturf.com Podcasts: https://www.earthworksturf.com/earthworks-podcasts/ 2 Minute Turf Talks: https://www.earthworksturf.com/2-minute-turf-talks/
‘Tis the season when restaurant brands aggressively position themselves to be top of mind for holiday revelers. Thanksgiving meals and deals have been pouring into our inboxes for the past several weeks, catering to those who perhaps like to host, but not so much cook. There's a good reason for such aggressive promotions; Technomic data finds that nearly one-fourth of consumers will likely purchase a full Thanksgiving meal for pickup from a restaurant, and 22% plan to use restaurant food for at least part of their Thanksgiving meal. A new HungerRush survey shows even more intent, with 64% of consumers saying they plan to order at least one food item from a restaurant to include in their holiday celebrations, while 37% said they'd order their entire holiday meal from a restaurant. As such, SpotOn restaurant customers have added 226 “Thanksgiving” menu items in the past 90 days, with the first uptick coming the week of Sept. 24 and peaking the week of Oct. 23. Further, 7,417 turkey items have been added in the past 90 days.

As we enter the holiday season, we reflect. We reflect on the good and the bad. The things we're grateful for and the things we wish had never happened. The last bunch of years has been challenging for all of us. From the chaos of our politics, to the immeasurable losses we suffered from COVID, to the seemingly endless string of mass shootings, we've all been through a lot. But no one has experienced the pain we've all experienced more than children. They've been subjected to a level of uncertainty that no other group of children has had to experience. From COVID cancellations and ambiguous school policies, to social media pressure, to whatever weird stuff hasn't hit our radar yet — the kids are not all right. And so as many of us gather together with our families, we wanted to take some time to reflect and to get some answers and ideas on how to move forward past the trauma we've all just experienced. And we've got a returning guest that's the perfect voice to hear from on all of it. Anya Kamenetz (@Anya1Anya) joined us in Episode 57 in May of 2020 to break down the beginnings of the pandemic's effect on children. And now that we've moved past it, she's back to share the lessons learned and what we can expect going forward. Even if you don't have kids this is one that you probably need to hear. From Richard Fierro, the heroic veteran who prevented the loss of many more lives in the Colorado Springs shooting, to the war in Ukraine, to Kari Lake refusing to accept the election results in Arizona — the news doesn't quit. And neither do we. So while you cook your turkey, tofurkey or whatever else you're eating this thanksgiving Thursday, we put together this special episode that is jam packed with the Righteous Media 5 Is: independence, integrity, information, inspiration and impact. "This is God's will for you..." that you would enjoy life to the full. Today, Holy Spirit teaches us that this kind of abundant life comes as we cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude. May our hearts overflow with thanks to Him this week and always. Happy Thanksgiving!
What are you thankful for? As we move into this Thanksgiving Season, it's time for each of us to ponder that question. This week's Scripture passage – Psalm 16 – is going to challenge us to celebrate the goodness of God in three very unlikely places in our life. Join us Sunday to tune your heart for Thanksgiving!
Have y'all ever driven down the East Coast? I don't mean to spoil the magic for you but I gotta say, it's basically a straight shot through a wall of trees. So I was pretty excited when I noticed a few colorful billboards dotting my path. That excitement quickly turned to disgust when I realized that those billboards were super-duper racist. These billboards not only appropriated Mexican culture but also used broken English and made fun of Mexican accents. Yikes. In this episode we break down linguistic racism and dig deep into what it looks like and what we can do about it. Press play to learn: What linguistic racism looks like. The detrimental effects of linguistic racism. Why it's so important to talk to our children about unfamiliar accents. Concrete ways to introduce unfamiliar accents to our children and fight linguistic racism. Join us for a Policy Party You know what anti-racism looks like in your home, now let's take it into our communities! Join us for a Policy Party on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. ET, where Lindsay Dusard will talk to us about refugee allyship! At each Policy Party, we hang out over Zoom with experts from community-based organizations who will help us understand the issues and policies relevant to their area of expertise. Each party focuses on a different subject — anything from immigration to environmental justice and more! You'll leave each party with specific actionable steps you can take to make your community more compassionate, inclusive and anti-racist. My friend Lindsay will join us to discuss how we can be better allies to members of the refugee community. She has worked in refugee resettlement for over eight years and is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, where her work focuses on understanding factors related to refugee and immigrant students' sense of belonging, wel-lbeing and success in the U.S. school system.
