Vision Sunday Ephesians 1:18 “I pray that the EYES OF YOUR HEART may be enlightened” “heart-“ The very center and CORE of your being. Paul prayed that we perceive with our eyes but we see with our hearts. Seeing from the heart has to do with what we believe The things we believe to be true determine the way in which we interpret life. These “things” are called “core values.” Core values are the lens or eyes of our heart. Core Values: 1 QUALITY- do everything with a bit of excellence 2 Timothy 2:15 “DO YOUR BEST to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” 2 HONESTY - be real II Corinthians 8:21 For we aim at what is HONORABLE not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man. 3 DRIVE- never settle Philippians 3:13 “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and REACHING forward to those things which are ahead,” 4 LOVE - unconditionally Matthew 22:37-39 37 “Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall LOVE the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself.’” 5 UNITY - family John 17:21 “That they may all be ONE, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” Robert Kennedy said, "Some people see things as they are. I try to see things as they could be."
Awe | He Provides | Joel Hendricks | 12.23.18 by ONE Media
AWE Message 1 What is a true miracle? Put simply, “it’s when God does something unusual.” Lutzer Miracles still happen, and Christians should avoid the two extremes of seeing everything as a miracle or seeing nothing as a miracle. Why don’t we see the miraculous or unusual move of God? Why Not? Luke 2:9 “Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified (sore afraid).” “they were terrified” the sudden and unusual appearances created fear and amazement. Three reasons Jesus didn’t perform a miracle: 1 Jesus refused to do miracles to PROVE Himself. Mark 8:11-12 -ONE sign is never enough - do it again dad...do it again, do it again -Signs can deceive -fake sense of security and strength - The Word trumps signs- Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. We walk by faith not sight. If all of creation testifies about its creator (Romans 1:20, Psalm 19:1), why should He have to give us a personal sign from heaven on top of that? If you ask God for a sign from heaven like the Pharisees, chances are you’ll be disappointed like the Pharisees. 2 Jesus never performed a miracle that INTERFERED with Gods ultimate plan. Matt 26:53 Jesus didn’t come down from the cross because the cross had a purpose. The miracle of His survival would have undermined the greater miracle of His resurrection. God always has a plan (always working) God always has a purpose 3 Jesus didn’t do miracles where there was no FAITH. Matt 13:58 Most likely, the lack of faith meant that people didn’t ask Jesus to help them—or else, because of their lack of faith, Jesus chose not to. The bottom line is, there was no faith, so in this instance, he didn’t. -Faith moves the heart of God! Woman with the issue of blood for 12 years- “daughter, your faith has healed you!” Mk5:34 Man with the leprosy fell at His feet and worshiped Jesus- “Rise and go, your faith has made you well.” Lk 17:19 Blind man screams out “have mercy on me!” “Go, Jesus said, your faith has made you well.” Ms 10:52 -Set up for your miracle- Desperate- if you’re desperate Daring- if you’re willing to be daring Determination- no matter what I will trust and serve -Some times it takes the desperation, daring, determination of the people around you! Like the four friends in Mark chapter 2 Mark 2:5 “SEEING THEIR FAITH, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
Hold that thought Philippians 4:6-7 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Three questions to ask yourself to help let that thought go: 1 Is it worth my CONCERN? 2 Is it mine to CONTROL? (not relinquishing my responsibilities.) 3 Is it for GOD ALONE?
“Lack of Love” Romans 12:9–10 Biblical love is SINCERE Biblical love has STANDARDS Biblical love is SUPPORTIVE Biblical love is SUPREME 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 Without love … I SAY nothing I AM nothing I GAIN nothing
“Hypocrisy” Matt 7:3-5 Hypocrisy—presenting ourselves as something that we know we’re not. Hypocrisy is one of the most subtle and dangerous of sins. 1 The AFFECTS of hypocrisy Hypocrisy deceives the hypocrite Hypocrisy damages the unbelievers Hypocrisy dishonors God 2 How to AVOID hypocrisy Be Clear Be Consistent Be Compassionate
What Would Jesus Undo | Empty Worship | Joel Hendricks | 10.28.18 by ONE Media
“Indifference” Rev 3:15-20 Laodicea was known for their- 1. Finances - It was a center of banking and finance, known through the Roman Empire for its wealth and financial power. 2. Fashion - It was renowned for the soft, black wool produced there. 3. Pharmaceuticals - There was a famous medical school in Laodicea which produced a tablet that was sold all over the Roman Empire. This tablet was crushed, mixed with water to form a paste. This paste was rubbed into the eyes and was supposed to cure a variety of eye problems. Laodicea was destroyed by an earthquake in 61 AD. The city was so “wealthy” and “so self-sufficient” that they rebuilt their city with their own resources, refusing aid from Caesar. BUT, Laodicea had no ready source of water in the city. So water had to be piped in through aqueducts. Water from the hot springs in Hierapolis six miles to the north was brought into the city. Cold water was also piped in from Colossae, which was located 10 miles to the east. So by the time it reached them is was nether hot nor cold. This is the backdrop in which Jesus says “you are like lukewarm (indifferent, apathetic) water” and “I will spit you out of my mouth!” 1. ATTITUDE- low expectations No Excitement -indifference led to idleness No Expectation -material security led to feeling spiritually secure - no need for growth Not Engaged -settled for following Christ halfway, halfhearted 2. ALTITUDE- low living Eph 2:6 “seated in heavenly places” We prefer to be Comfortable -we play it safe, we have the attitude of my four and no more We like Conformity -we would rather fit in than stand up and out for Jesus 3. OPPORTUNITY v20 Initiated by Jesus “stands at the door and knocks” Intimacy with Jesus “will share a meal” Individual opportunity “open the door”
When the Devil Knocks | The Destroyer | Joel Hendricks | 10.14.18 by ONE Media
The Accuser Series- When the Devil Knocks Title - "The Accuser" Text- Rev 12:10-11 ? 1. Our Snitch Satan has access to heaven Satan is our accuser His target - our heart, conscience His tactics - guilt and shame When Satan talks to you about God, he lies. When he talks about you to God he tells the truth. Satan does not accuse without reason. We must learn the difference between the devils accusations and the Holy Spirits conviction. The devil-is aggressive, blames, tells you that you have no hope and uses guilt and shame. The Holy Spirit- is gentle, uses the Word of God in love to point out sin, offers grace, love and reminds you that there is always hope. 2. Our Savior Jesus is our advocate An advocate is a person who comes to our aid or pleads our case to a judge. Jesus is our defense (lawyer) Jesus does not defend us by telling the Judge (the Father) what we didn’t do wrong and what we did right. He reminds the Father what He did for us! Jesus has the authority- to not only show us our faults but also offer forgiveness for them and from them. Remember, we take away the devils power to defeat us, with his continuous accusations, by admitting our guilt to God and then accepting God’s love, mercy and amazing grace! There is power in LOVE (the blood of the Lamb) Jesus died in our place because of His great love for us! There is power in your LANGUAGE (their testimony) Declare the devil is a liar and that Jesus is Lord! There is power in LOYALTY (were not afraid to die) You must be ALL in!
When the Devil Knocks Message 1 “The Deceiver” John 8:44 “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; FOR HE IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF LIES.” 1 our SUBJECT “the devil” In order to fight well we must identify our true enemy. * He is real. * He is relentless * He is resistible James 4:7 “resist the devil and he will flee.” A part of Jesus teaching His disciples to pray daily was “deliver us from the evil one.” Not only must we identify our enemy we must investigate him. 2 his STRATEGY Eph 6:11 “wiles” is the English word “method.” Our enemy is methodical! * Where he attacks - in our mind. “You are what you think.” * Ways he attacks - he lies. He wants you to question Gods Word- question it’s ACCURACY He twist Gods Word- question it’s AUTHORITY That’s why it is so important that we use the only weapon we have to fight our enemy- “the sword of the spirit, the Word of God.” After 40 days and nights of fasting, Jesus didn’t use his supernatural “powers” to fight the enemy. He used the Word to resist the enemy! * When you feel discouraged- “I put my hope in God.” * Your family is under attack- “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” * The diagnosis is not good- “All things are possible with God.” “By his stripes I am healed.” * Not sure what to do- “Lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge God and he will direct your path.” * After you make a mistake- “There is now no condemnation in Christ.” And “If you confess your sins, he is faithful to forgive your sins and cleans you from all unrighteousness.” * Relationship is in trouble- “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Everything comes from God, belongs to God, and is dispersed by God. We are the stewards – or managers – of His possessions. The question is, Do we recognize God as the owner of it all – even the things we call “our belongings” – even “our” money? It’s one thing to say it – It’s another thing to live it out. My desire for this series is to help us put earthly things into a heavenly perspective in order for us to get it right . . . on the money, so that God can use each of us to further His kingdom.
