Fitriya Mohamed, an advocate for Muslim athletes, joins Sisterhoop this week. Fitriya and I talk about her experiences playing basketball as a Muslim woman, her advocacy work through Hijabi Ballers and the MWSBL and her goal of changing the narrative about how her religion and Muslim athletes are perceived. We also discuss the need for better representation of minorities in the media, her campaign with Nike to create a guide for allyship with Muslim athletes and the progress needed to level the playing field for all athletes.
