Making a Scene Presents an Interview with the All Night Boogie Band All Night Boogie Band is an award-winning blues, rock, and soul-inspired band from the Green Mountains of Vermont, built on big vocals, hard-driving grooves, gritty guitar work, and a deep affection for the sound and spirit of American roots music. Since forming in 2021, the band has developed a reputation as one of Vermont's most energetic live acts, delivering original music with the power of a roadhouse blues band, the swing of a horn-fueled soul revue, and the urgency of rock and roll. http://www.makingascene.org

The music business has had ups and downs for Houston native Sam Morrow. He's bounced around geographically and within his own sound through a decade or more and a half dozen studio albums. But his recent return to his home state of Texas, reconnecting with an old flame who is now his wife, and his clarity on what he wants to do musically produced a dandy of a Southern rock offering called Southern Boogie. Morrow joined us on Roots Music Rambler to dig into the changes in latitude and attitude that produced the record, his journey from Texas to L.A. to Nashville and back, and how life is different now with all the changes. Morrow has migrated from country to singer-songwriter to Southern rock throughout his career, but with Boogie, his sixth studio album, he seems to be where he should be – making bangers about life and love, all while bringing out his own spin on the sound of a Texas rocker. Frank and Falls also catch up on Frank's experience at American Music Fest at Chicago's heralded music venue Fitzgeralds, and some fun live music plans for Falls' July trip to the Windy City. (Spoiler: Lucia's plans with her dad fell through and she got to see Lucy Dacus with the RMR crew and family!) Frank and Falls also have their normal pickin' the grinnin' choices for music recommendations this week. Frank raved about Les Greene and the Swayzees, who performed at American Music Fest. Falls pointed folks to an Otis Gibbs documentary featuring the late Todd Snyder, who reminisced about one of his mentors, John Prine, before Snyder passed away last year. The film is called A Love Letter to Handsome John. Find the picks on Spotify and YouTube. Sam Morrow is online at sammorrowmusic.com, on Spotify, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. DEEP DIVE for Past Week - Next Week 08-09-2026: Hosted by Chris and Paul, featuring recurring personalities like Boogie and a listener known as the Texter. The hosts open the show with a Taylor Swift song to symbolize the summer heat before transitioning into personal updates regarding family travels and recent trips to local landmarks. Much of the conversation centers on a weekly challenge where the hosts must perform tasks like talking to strangers or reconnecting with old friends to foster personal growth. Interspersed throughout are satirical news headlines, a news quiz e, and a "special feature" that reinterprets the hidden meanings behind famous pop and rock songs. The program concludes with political commentary on the state of the government and a shared viewing of a classic country music television special.
This week on Hope Prose, Tara goes back to the beginning of her own writing journey by speaking with the person who helped ignite her first spark in writing, back when she was a young mother who struggled with post-partum anxiety and an all-encompassing amount of imposter syndrome. Back when she dreamed up picture books at three in the morning with a baby asleep on her chest, and decided to write to one of her favourite picture book authors on a whim. Kathy Stinson was that author and is Tara's guest again after twelve years. Kathy writes timeless picture books that have been published internationally, including the classic Red Is Best, the award-winning The Man with the Violin, and the Governor General shortlisted The Rock and the Butterfly. She is also a published novelist, short story writer, poet, wife, mother, grandmother, and current president of CANSCAIP (the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators, and Performers). Listen in as they chat about Kathy's start over forty years ago, how she has maintained this career through avoiding trends, and instead leaning into the creative process and following her own curiosity and interests. They also chat about her newest picture book Boogie & Tee and Twinkle & Hue, and how stories can impact us across the lifespan, even a picture book when we are sixty. In this episode of In A Pickle, we kick things off with Patrick Mahomes Sr.'s latest legal request as he asks a Texas court to replace his court-ordered ankle monitor, claiming it's causing serious medical issues. Then in the News, we cover the Minnesota Vikings suspending defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander after his DUI case, former NBA guard Isiah Rider landing behind bars yet again, and Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason seeking a domestic violence restraining order after alleging threats and harassment. Finally, This Week's Biggest Pickle goes to Giants outfielder Harrison Bader. What started as a late-night scooter crash into the back of a fire truck has turned into a much bigger problem. With reports of drinking before the accident, a team investigation, suspended pay, and the possibility of his contract being voided over a prohibited high-risk activity, Bader may have crashed into far more than just a fire engine.

Let Us Know What You Think of the Show!SHOW SUMMARY:Date: July 29, 2026Name of Podcast: Backstage Pass RadioS11: E3: Jonathon "Boogie" Long - Courage In The ChaosSHOW SUMMARY:A great guitar player can impress you in 10 seconds, but Jonathon “Boogie” Long is after something harder: a sound that tells the truth. Randy Hulsey talks with the Louisiana blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter about what it takes to build a career when the music industry is driven by algorithms, short-form video, and streaming numbers that can make even a great record feel invisible. Boogie gets real about the pressure to “go viral,” why that can feel forced, and how he's chosen a more authentic lane through TikTok live streaming, daily improvisation, and genuine fan engagement that slowly moves the needle on Spotify. We also go back to where it started, from Baton Rouge roots to life in Hammond, and the family gospel tradition that shaped his ear, his phrasing, and his commitment to uplifting songs. Boogie explains how he learned to hear chord progressions without an instrument, why he thinks like a vocalist when he plays guitar, and how early gigs, road work, and mentorship helped him grow up fast in the Louisiana music scene. Along the way we touch career turning points like playing Jazz Fest, winning Guitar Center's King of the Blues, and the long road from accolades to sustainable momentum. Then we dig into Courage and the Chaos, the album that pushes through genre lines and lands on the Billboard blues chart, plus the realities of releasing new music while competing with legacy acts. You'll also hear practical talk on recording sessions, touring goals, future album ideas, and a quick hit of guitar gear favorites for tone chasers. If you care about modern blues, independent artists, and the behind-the-scenes work that never shows up in a highlight reel, this one's for you. Afterwards, we collected feedback from the children, asking three simple questions:Have you played golf before?Did you enjoy playing golf?Would you like to play more golf?We also asked what they enjoyed most about the day.In this episode, I'll share the statistics, some brilliant comments from the children, and explain how thousands of pupil voice forms collected over the last five years continue to shape the way we deliver JOLF.
