In this "What's Your Story?" podcast, we have a very special guest from my old stomping ground Calgary. Mary Moran the CEO & President of Calgary Economic Development. Mary tells a great story of how she and her team helped organizations in Calagary adapt to the new normal and thrive. Mary explains how Calgary is a technological hub with an abundance of young talent in the digital field. She also explains how the Calgary Economic Development partnered with industry to help grow the jobs and the economy. A thriving city that ready to take on the challenges with a downswing in the economy due to COVID-19.. According to Mary, "Calgary's economy is going to start roaring back to life next year, but not before the city posts a dismal 10.1 percent GDP contraction for 2020 as the pandemic and the energy sector slump continue to take their toll". Calgary's economy was put through the wringer in 2020 with the pandemic, she feels the city's fortunes will start to turn around in the new year. A great listen from a strong leader!

Got a wild podcast for you guys. We literally recorded this about ten minutes after UFC Calgary ended it lasted somehow until after 1 AM. And I apologize for the edit I had to do because of my "Technical difficulty" Did I mention we have Stoges and Joey along with us for the ride? On today's episode we briefly go over One Championship Reign Of Kings, and then we dive right into the UFC Calgary card which was awesome from top to bottom. We give our thoughts on Poirier Vs Alvarez 2, we cover Jose Aldo's performance and argue about who's the greatest featherweight of all time. We get side tracked numerous times (Discussing our BBQ Fight League) but somehow we cover the entire card without the episode being three hours long. Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/retrotimen)

Another week goes by, and another round of games that we can celebrate. Here we talk about a 3-0-1 stretch including Colorado, Vancouver, Calagary and Arizona. Now that the college season has ended, there are ELCs being signed. We also talk about how rewarding it is to see Magnus Paajarvi succeed, and what that could mean for Nail Yakupov. As predicted, March has been pretty good to the Blues - but that didn't come without a cost, as the Blues lost the services of Paul Stastny for a while. While the Blues can hold down the fort for a spell, what does this mean for the playoffs? Yep .. playoffs.
After an extended break, Broomstackers is back! Chelsea is back on the show after overwhelming demand from our listeners. Of course, this meant that we spent a lot of our time making bad CSI-related puns and discussing who would make the Gryffindor curling team. We also talked about what curling-related things we were thankful for, why Chelsea finds the name "Schenectady" just a little bit hilarious, and a whole lot of topics that have little-to-nothing to do with curling. It's a good time all around! As a heads up, the next episode will be released in about two weeks, after Ed and his team return from GNCC Club Playdowns in Schenectady (where we'll probably be recording plenty of podcast material). Wish us luck! SHOW NOTES Brian's Song was a 1971 TV movie that told the story of Brian Piccolo (played by James Cann in the film), a football player who was diagnosed with terminal cancer after joining the Chicago Bears. After a last minute comeback by the Stampeders, the Ottawa Redblacks managed to defeat Calagary 39-33 in overtime in the Grey Cup, capping a huge upset victory. Never seen a haka? This is a haka! Of course, it predates sports: it is a traditional war cry of the Maori. Yes, the New Zealand national basketball team really is known as the Tall Blacks. On the other hand, while it is widely believed that the All Blacks name started with a typo, it seems as though there's no way to confirm whether this is how the name gained popularity.
Bajo la dirección musical de Roberto Minczuk, la Orquesta Filarmónica de Calagary, en la provincia de Alberta, presentará a partir del 28 de octubre una serie de conciertos bajo el nombre de “Fiesta! Latin American Classics Festival”.
The Canadian Muay Thai kickboxer Charmaine Tweet made her MMA debut earlier this year with an amateur submission win over Tia Wishart, then a pro loss to Ronda Rousey. Tweet will have two matches ahead - one with Heather Martin in Calagary, then has a match with Anna Barone at Blackeye Promotion's Breast Cancer Beatdown Oct. 1. We'll talk to Tweet about her exyensive fight career, the move to MMA, and how she is preparing for two matches in three weeks.
