Monty Moran is the former Co-CEO of Chipotle. He joined them when they had 8 stores and left after they had over 2,500 and their valuation grew from a few million to $23 billion over his decade with the company. This isn't a podcast about business though. I had Monty on the show because he cites his main key to the success from having one-on-one conversations with Chipotle employees, connecting the company mission to theirs. He did this 20,000 times. It sounds altruistic, but look at Chipotle's ridiculous success. I'm looking at this personally. You may work at something that you feel is your direct mission. Your purpose. Or you may work at something that is primarily for the purpose of making money so you can exist. If it is the latter, can you attach it to what you really care about? This is what Monty is an expert at and it's the focus of his book, “Love Is Free, Guac Is Extra.” Monty and I have spent time together out here in Colorado and I just appreciate his differing perspectives on life, and the connections we can have. Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday edition of the 3 Martini Lunch where they bemoan the lack of 'serious people' in prominent positions. Those people include Terri Moran whose savage X post cost him his job at ABC, DNI director Tulsi Gabbard, who seems tired of being in the background, and Tennessee Rep. Mark Green who has the audacity to resign his position for an alleged business venture in Guyana. First, they laugh over Terry Moran's vitriolic X post, claiming Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and President Trump to be 'world class haters' and find nourishment by "eating their hate." Quite possibly the result of an evening of booze, this post could have been explained away with a simple apology, but Moran refuses to recant. Jim wonders if ABC is grateful for a reason to oust a boring reporter that costs them half a million dollars a year. Next, they dissect Tulsi Gabbard's dramatic YouTube warning about nuclear war. Gabbard insists we're closer than ever to nuclear annihilation, apparently forgetting the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis. Jim is skeptical, especially considering the recent war in Ukraine and Russia where nuclear weapons have not yet been used. He also says that Gabbard has a direct link to speak with the president about such concerns, so speaking out publicly suggests she is bored of working behind the scenes. Last, they are aghast at the resignation of Tennessee Rep. Mark Green for the sake of a private sector opportunity. Greg is enraged by any public official who would leave office for any reason other than health and family reasons or scandal. Green leaving for an elusive business venture in Guyana of all places has both Jim and Greg immensely irritated. Please visit our great sponsors:Talk it out with Betterhelp. The initial portrayal of Britt Reid/The Green Hornet was voiced by Al Hodge, who was later succeeded by several other actors, most notably Brace Beemer, who became synonymous with the role for many listeners. Kato, Reid's loyal valet and skilled martial arts expert, was famously voiced by Tokutaro Hayashi and later Rollon Parker. The show's central premise revolved around Britt Reid, a wealthy newspaper publisher who secretly operated as The Green Hornet by night. Using his resources, along with Kato's fighting prowess and their signature gas gun, they fought criminals while maintaining Reid's public facade as a playboy. The target audience for "The Green Hornet" was broad, appealing to both younger listeners with its action and adventure and older audiences with its suspenseful storylines and charismatic lead. The original radio run spanned over fifteen years, concluding in December 1952, leaving a lasting impact on popular culture. Throughout its run, the show featured contributions from various talented actors and writers who helped shape its enduring appeal, including Fran Striker, the creator of both "The Green Hornet" and "The Lone Ranger."Green Hornet, police, gambling, investigation, crime, vigilante, drama, action, mystery, law enforcement

Fostering High-Performance Culture Without Burnout In this episode, leadership coach Shauna Moran joins Michael Levitt to explore how organizations can build a high-performance culture without sacrificing employee well-being. They dive into the unique challenges women face in the workplace, particularly burnout, and the urgent need for systemic change. Michael reinforces that organizations must prioritize well-being as a core strategy, not an afterthought. Together, they break down how businesses can embed wellness into their systems, processes, and culture, equipping leaders with the skills to prevent burnout and foster sustainable success. The Four-Day Work Week: A Game-Changer for Retention Shauna shares firsthand insights from implementing a four-day workweek for a client, emphasizing the need for strategic planning, organizational readiness, and data-driven decision-making. The results? A 50% increase in employee retention. Michael builds on this, highlighting the importance of stakeholder involvement in significant organizational changes—drawing from his healthcare leadership experience, where projects often fail due to a lack of frontline input. They unpack the biggest pitfalls in scaling businesses, such as poor documentation and a lack of standard operating procedures, and why fixing these issues is critical to long-term success. Proactive Leadership: The Key to Workplace Wellness Shauna and Michael challenge the traditional reactive approach to employee wellness, advocating for proactive leadership strategies that support long-term retention and engagement. Michael doesn't hold back—he calls out leaders for overworking employees and sending after-hours emails, urging them to rethink their approach to work-life balance. They both agree that if you want to retain top talent and create a thriving workplace, leadership must set the tone for a culture of well-being and respect.
