It's Thursday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to massage your earholes. The guys started the podcast with a tribute to Johnny Gaudreau. The hockey world lost one of its brightest stars last week, and the story is so heartbreaking in every possible way. Even though it's impossible to make sense of this loss, it's been wonderful to read the tributes to the Gaudreau brothers and learn a little more about how incredible they were as human beings.Changing gears, the guys walked through the Leon Draisaitl extension that came down on Tuesday. Not only did the Oilers find a way to lock in one of their biggest stars to a max-term deal, but the fact that he was so happy to stay in Edmonton is a detail that makes this extension so much more special. Needless to say, the Oilers organization has come a long way from the days of losing their stars because the team couldn't afford to pay them.Next up, the guys walked through some of the best stories from Friday's Oilersnation Open, including Tyler's cheating story and how it's a secret that everyone kept under wraps until today. As you'll hear, the tournament was ripe with shenanigans, and it's going to be fantastically funny when two of the podcast hosts find out what actually happened. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a collection of topics that were all over the map. From the Chase money glitch to Wanye trying to buy a Nail Yakupov jersey to Cody Ceci's sad interview on the What Chaos podcast, the last 15 minutes of Thursday's show were pure chaos. Are you surprised? Of course not.

On this episode the boys are joined by an absolute shit kicker and one of the best story tellers we have EVER had, Darcy Hordichuk. Coming into the league as an Atlanta Thrasher is probably an episode worth of stories... throw in the 2000's Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, and the Edmonton Oilers and you're in for an all-time interview. Some of the topics include getting his coach fined 10k because of a fight against Cam, teaching Connor Bedard how to fight, dealing with prime Sean Avery, young Taylor Hall and Nail Yakupov, plus *so* much more. Before the interview the boys dive straight into the season with Auston Matthews white hot start, the Oilers getting embarrassed by the Canucks, a couple good fights and big hits. It's an all timer to start the season- enjoy Darcy on this episode of the Cam & Strick Podcast!Interview start: 1:43:40Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTok | Cam & Strick Website | FacebookYou can also keep up with the boys on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook!Andy Strickland - Instagram | TwitterCam Janssen - Instagram | Twitter | Facebook

The boys are back in town, which meant there was plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.Kicking off this week's podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about who will grab the final roster spot with the Oilers by the time training camp is all said and done. With Lane Pederson, Sam Gagner, and Raphael Lavoie all fighting for the final roster spot, it will be very interesting to see how that battle shakes out. Looking at the captain's skates that are happening at Rogers Place, we talked about how it's great to see the team getting to town so early and hitting the ice with purpose. While we always see teams showing up for optional skates every summer, this year just feels different because of the way the last season ended. We also covered the Nail Yakupov interview from Dropping the Gloves that happened this past week, and how it offered an interesting look behind the scenes at what was going on while he was hear. Needless to say, Yak didn't have much fun in Edmonton and that was a real bummer given how excited we all were to have him. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another edition of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's Quote Game, and Hot and Cold Performers to cap it all off. Are we reaching the point in our relationship where your Wednesday would feel incomplete without a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never? Good news, friends. I'm back with a fresh podcast that's set, edited, and ready for your earholes.Kicking off this week's podcast, I got started with a quick recap of my trip to Kelowna to see my mom. From hanging out at the beach to taking a wine tour around some of Kelowna's coolest wineries, my weekend away was an absolute blast and one that I desperately needed. Back to BLTN business, the investigation continues into who is leaving messages as Xol the Will of Thousands, including some new listener allegations about who it might be. Needless to say, this story is nowhere near over. Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, how could I not be excited about seeing the boys back on the ice at Rogers Place? Feeling like they've got something to prove this season, the captain's skates kicked off yesterday, and hearing the fellas talk about wanting to be as prepared as possible when the season gets going sent a shiver down my spine and into my loins. As gross as that metaphor may be to you, I could not care less because having the Oilers back on the ice makes me so very excited for the start of a new NHL season. In former Oiler news, Nail Yakupov appeared on Dropping the Gloves with John Scott this week and hearing some of his stories from his time in Edmonton was pretty intense. Honestly, I felt bad for the guy. Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with a fresh round of voicemails to get your take on everything that's been going on since last week's episode. Getting back to business, we talked about some folks being upset that Connor McDavid will not be participating in the fastest skater competition for the first time. While some people are annoyed that McDavid isn't participating in the fastest skater, none of us on this podcast cared too much at all. Frankly, we all thought it was interesting to see him doing something else for a change. From there, we looked at the rest of the skills competition events and offered our take on who would win each event. Changing gears entirely, we pivoted to being a food podcast for the day as everyone was finally able to try a Crisp Butty. As you'll hear, this could be one of the best segments we've ever had as we all had a great time enjoying our first Butty. Welcome, citizens, to a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio! This week, we had a lot to discuss as the Oilers find themselves in first place in the Pacific Division as we head into December, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' injury and what that means for the roster, and what the hell is going on with the NHL referees.   To start off episode 64 of the podcast, we kicked things off with a look back at the former first overall pick from 2012, Nail Yakupov, and what we remember about our former friend now that he's been playing in Russia for the past couple of years. With the trip down memory lane out of the way, we turned back to the current Edmonton Oilers and what they're going to do if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' hand injury is more severe than we initially anticipated. Would an extended stint on the shelf for RNH add more pressure on Ken Holland to find another centreman? In the meantime, is there someone from the Condors that should be called up and given a chance in his absence? From there we looked back at Wednesday's game against Colorado and the ridiculous sequence that saw the Oilers losing both Alex Chiasson and Adam Larsson in a matter of seconds. We were all in agreement that the hit on Chiasson was a clean one, but the conversation got a lot more heated when discussing the strange decisions made by Steve Kozari and the officiating team. Lastly, we finished up this week's show with a look at the Edmonton Oilers sitting atop of the Pacific Division as we head into December and whether or not that means this team is truly for real. As always, it was another jam-packed episode of ON Radio and a wonderful massage for your ear feelings as we head into a huge weekend for the boys.

Before finishing his story, though, Chalmers jumped in to interrupt and ask questions about the new podcast studio. Studio complaints behind them, Jay got back to his travel stories and offered updates on a few former friends in Jesse Puljujarvi and Nail Yakupov. From there, the stories took a strange twist as Jay gave the guys the ins and outs from his 24-hour stint in Russia. As North Americans, we often think of Russia as a wild place to visit and Jay's stories seemed to confirm that fact. Finally, it wouldn't be a Real Life Podcast without closing out the episode with a recap of what's going on in the Big Brother house.

It’s the night dreams of made of.This weekend, the next step in many kids and families dreams take the next step as they will be drafted in the NHL. I say the next step, because obviously not every one makes it. A first round, or even a first pick in the first round doesn’t guarantee superstardom. Look at the Edmonton Oilers. Yes, they drafted Connor McDavid. But they also drafted Nail Yakupov who signed today in Russia. According to liveabout. com TSN looked at draft picks from 2000 to 2009. Based on that analysis, TSN concluded that 80 percent of first-round picks become at least low-level NHL players, while 44 percent of those players selected in the second round make the NHL a career. Just 30 percent of third-round picks become NHL players, and the percentages continue to drop in the later roundsThere is no exact science, but clearly homework is needed. Seen, Tyler and I got through our mock draft process and pic the 1st Round for all 31 teams. There are no predictions of trades. We also talk about Alex Edler signing with the Canucks and Jesse Puljujärvi asking for a trade from the Edmonton OilersFollow Tyler: @tnobleFollow Sean @beardycanuck03Follow me: @kevole

We are now into the dry portion of the year…no hockey until September!  So, we at the Two Man Forecheck are going to forge on and talk about everything available. We start with a list of 13 contracts that are “iffy”.  This list is published by David Staples on the Edmonton Journal.  Both Mike and Chris have issues with most of the contracts listed with the exception of two. Moving on, we discuss the move of Nail Yakupov to the KHL and whether he was ruined by the Oilers or was it something of his own doing?  The Forecheckers agree that there is a combination of factors here. A listener, @holyrooder72 wanted to know how Jack Studnicka did at Bruins Development Camp. There are two goaltenders in their mid 30’s with teams that are in different places.  Pekka Rinne and Henrik Lundqvist have both put in a lot of work with their respective teams, but which one should we worry more about. On this topic we disagree, give a listen and let us know on which side you fall. Kucherov has signed an 8-year extension with the Lightning.  Average annual value of 9.5 million dollars.  Is this a good deal?  Again, we disagree, how do you feel? Finally, Emmanuel Perry released a list on Twitter regarding the adjusted points per game for the top 50 skaters drafted this year.  It’s an interesting list to be sure, but is it just another tool or is it the old adage that you can make stats say anything you want? We present to you another show for your listening pleasure.  Let us know what you think and where your opinions lie.  Until next week…enjoy!
