Damian McGinty, while a part of the original lineup of Celtic Thunder, at the of 14 was not part of the original intention of the group. Still, he was with the band for a number of years. A brief hiatus gave us a stint on the TV show Glee, as well as some solo works…And he's part of the lineup once again with Celtic Thunder current tour with several stops in the region, including Riverside on the 13th. David Fleming spoke with Damian about Glee, and of course his time with Celtic Thunder as a child AND as an adult. We'll hear about some of his solo recordings in a near future show.

As the saying goes, sometimes change is a good thing, and there's a whole lot of changing going on in this episode! The Glee club is distraught because Mercedes has left New Directions for the Troubletones, and she's recruited Santana and Brittany; btw their rendition of CandyMan is so Glee-tastic, Jenna admits she was a little jealous not to be a part of it. Meanwhile, new club, new relationship status for Brittany and Santana . . . they're officially dating! Idina is back with a new storyline, and Kevin and Jenna have mixed feelings about it. Sue has a new foe, and there's a new kid in town, Irish foreign exchange student Rory Flanagan, played by "Glee Project" co-winner Damian McGinty. He's got the voice of an angel, but not everyone is happy about that! Could they have packed more into one show?! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Carl Mullan and his professional partner Emily Barker were crowned Dancing with the Stars champions last night. Ryan is joined in studio by the winners and finalists Brooke Scullion, Robert Rowinski, Damian McGinty and Kylee Vincent.

It's all about Derry on this year's 'Dancing with the Stars', from Derry native Brooke Scullion to an actual Derry Girl Leah O'Rourke, and of course, Damian McGinty. The Derry native is best known as 'Rory Flanagan' from Glee but now, he's trading in his vocal chords for his dancing shoes. Damian joined Dermot and Dave to chat about moving from McKinley High to Montrose! 'Dancing with the Stars' airs Sundays at 6:30 on RTÉ One and the RTÉ player.
Glee's loss is another film's gain in this episode, because we're finishing our holiday break with Santa Fake! It's got Damian McGinty, Heather Morris, sad coyote noises, Catholic guilt, and cabbits! That's a half-cat, half-rabbit. It's surprisingly charming? Damian's singing is great but you'll notice he doesn't dance (hey man good luck on DWTS) If you want to contact us we can be found at loserlikemepod@gmail.com, or @loserlikemepod on twitter. *deedle deedle deedle deedle* Damian McGinty is here! Also our friend Jake Mason, who's been glee-free since 2020. After we catch him up on the season he missed it's off to the races. Santana's done nothing wrong in her life, Brittany is everything good and pure about this world, and there's a glitter stain on Jake's viewing history. Jake can be found on twitter @jj_mason. Whether you call it the Derry Air, The Londonderry Air or most likely Danny Boy the TDG's theme song is very dear to our hearts - so when Derry singer/songwriter actor and all round credit to his Ma Damian McGinty agreed to sing it for us we were beyond lurred. Maybe if Damian is new to your - all things Derry - radar you might want to click on the first link below and do a crash course - his recent song and video. This Old Town is a love song to Derry and will help you make sense of our chat with him. One of the original members of music phenomenon Celtic Thunder his career started at the tender age of 14 and has taken him far beyond our "spectacular" city walls. We know all about Derry Girls but what is it like being a Derry Boy? Even if that boy beat 40,000 other entrants to gain a role in US TV phenomenon Glee. Does he reckon that Derry Girls is based on truth? and just what bombshell did he drop on our girls, to make Jeanie choke on her tea - clue it involves one of the Derry Girls cast… Damian McGinty - This Old Town released St Patrick’s Day 2021 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xe4ZIqhzNA New song will be released on 30th April 2021 - Damian McGinty - https://www.damianmcginty.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/damianmcginty/Twitter: https://twitter.com/damianmcginty?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5EauthorInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/damianmcginty/?hl=en Phil Coulter - https://www.philcoulter.com/ Celtic Thunder - https://www.celticthunder.com Glee - https://glee.fandom.com/wiki/Damian_McGinty https://www.netflix.com/title/70143843 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glee_(TV_series) The Glee Project - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Glee_Project The Kids from Fame - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kids_from_%22Fame%22 Puppy Love Damian aged 14 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cloTlvFWFh0 Fergal Sharkey - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feargal_Sharkey The Late Late Show RTE - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkXxg6xsfvw Derry City Football Club - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derry_City_F.C. https://www.derrycityfc.net/2021/04/new-derry-city-documentary-to-air-on-bbc/ For more information about the podcast, visit: www.thebiglight.com/talkingderrygirls Keep up to date with us on Twitter: @TBLderrygirls Check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/talkingderrygirls WATCH Derry Girls on Channel 4: https://www.channel4.com On RTE (in Ireland): https://www.rte.ie/ Series 1 & 2 available on Netflix outside UK: https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/derry-girls-season-2-coming-to-netflix-in-august-2019/

The album reflects on a break up, a pandemic, a lockdown, a move, but most importantly it is an inspirational set of original songs based around keeping your ‘fire’, your spark, even when life throws many obstacles in your way. The album contains tracks like Silent Suffering and Four Walls which reflects on the way the pandemic has impacted society in 2020.” Biography: Gem O’Reilly is a talented country-pop singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom. At just fifteen years old she participated in the nationwide music competition Live and Unsigned and it was there that her knack for writing solid melodic country pop tunes was recognised by Alex Baker of Kerrang! Radio. That then lead Gem onto progressing as a songwriter and being signed at seventeen years old to Walled City Records, a record label created by Glee star, Damian McGinty. With this label Gem released her first EP, Teenager, and hit number seven in the iTunes country charts. From that point on Gem’s music career continued to rise as well-known names like Cole Page and Mike Sweeney requested to write and perform alongside Gem. This resulted in Gem performing in some of the North West’s most prestigious venues including The 02 Academy and The Lowry Theatre. Gem has supported famous names such as Jason Manford and Catfish And The Bottlemen. She has also recorded music with managers of The Courteeners. Her second album, I Have Found Me, was released independently and recorded under the management of the famous Judd Lander. This album saw the release of Gem’s first music video and reached national and regional radio with BBC Radio dubbing Gem as “The British Taylor Swift”. Gem’s third and latest album, Love Potion represents a maturity in her artistic writing, playing out original songs of love and growing up. Songs like My Last Goodbye represent letting go of a past relationship and moving on with life. Gem recorded this album featuring Noah Bachoco in Invincible and composed the entirety of the music throughout. She describes it as “A reflection of a first love, the heights and falls and the lessons learnt.” This album was recorded with well-known music producers Peter Ross and Andy Ross. Now Gem performs at some of the biggest venues in the country including UK Parliament. Her latest album is available now across iTunes, Spotify and Amazon Music. Gem will be releasing her fourth album that she wrote in lockdown ‘Fire' containing ten tracks in 2021.

Glee season 3, episode 4: "Pot O' Gold" – Glee Project winner Damian McGinty makes his not-so-triumphant first appearance as Rory Flannigan.
