Hello EICulture Vultures. Our gorgeous Beth is ill this week, everyone say get well soon Beth!So we were all rooting for this new Netflix documentary series to give us an unfiltered and balanced look into the unbelievably problematic world of America's Next Top Model. The question is…did it? So for anyone who hasn't watched it, Netflix released “Reality Check: America's Next Top Model” on the 16th of February, and in three separate hour-long episodes it dives into the creation of the show which was hosted by Tyra Banks and then briefly Rita Ora, the many scandals that happened during its 24 seasons- or cycles, as the show called them- and how it all fell apart. We hear from many former contestants, as well as former judges J “Miss J” Alexander and Nigel Barker, and creative director on set Jay Manuel. But most controversially, Tyra Banks also appears and has her say- something people are having a lot of feelings about, and which we will get into. More TV news! A new limited series from Ryan Murphy's anthology franchise has captured the minds and hearts of the internet, myself included, it documents the intense, whirlwind romance and subsequent tragic marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. played by Paul Anthony Kelly and Carolyn Bessette played by Sarah Pidgeon, Based on Elizabeth Beller's book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the show explores their rise as a 1990s "It Couple" while highlighting the immense, often suffocating pressure of fame, paparazzi, and legacy. We give our thoughts!Thank you so much to Cue podcasts for the edit.We hope you enjoy! Matt and Dawn are joined by TV fan Mo Walker, to review four new shows available to watch this week. Firstly, Lisa McGee, the creator of Derry Girls is back with a brand new twisty comedic thriller in Netflix's surprising series, How to Get to Heaven of Belfast. Next, also set in Ireland, the foursome watch the gentle drama, The Walsh series. The series is the sort of family kitchen sink drama that the team are always hoping TV would return to, but does the RTE series deliver for them? Next, ITV has a new true story four-parter for Sunday nights. The Lady, about the mystery surrounding The Dutchess of York's dresser. The series is elevated by strong lead performance from Mia Mckenna Bruce who was last seen elevating Netflix's Agatha Christie adaptation, The Seven Dials. Lastly, Dawn struggles to get through Channel 4's docudrama, Dirty Buisness which takes a dramatic look at water companies polluting Britain's waterways.
In partnership with RENDR Festival and supported by the National Talent Academy for VFX, we are delighted to present the first in a very special speaker series. Recorded on location at RENDR 2026 in Banana Block, Belfast, we catch up with Irish TV and feature film photographer Helen Sloan, whose expansive list of credits includes How to Train Your Dragon, Wednesday, Derry Girls, and Foundation. In this in-depth conversation, she discusses the responsibilities and artistry of the role, and shares how she ascended in her career following her first big break on Game of Thrones.https://www.filmireland.net/podcast-tv-feature-film-photographer-helen-sloan-wednesday-game-of-thronesThis series of talks was recorded in The Spinners Mill Studio, a podcast and DJ studio based in Banana Block offering tailored solutions for DJ sessions, small-scale events and podcasting from concept to final distribution. Helen SloanHelen was born in rural Ireland. Given her first camera at age 11, she quickly came into her “fly on the wall” role, capturing snapshots of life around her. At age 18 while studying Art in Belfast, she landed among a group of circus performers - where her non intrusive style of photography and technical mind lent itself well to performance photography. She travelled the world with various troupes and performers, spending a large amount of time in Iceland. A series of melancholy portraits caught the eye of a movie producer - who invited her to work on a series of horror films. Sloan landed more and more jobs on film and television sets over the next decade - and the “Game of Thrones” came to her doorstep. Helen is responsible for the photography from the hit HBO drama having been there from the first day of the pilot, until the very last day of filming. The job covered many genres of photography; landscape, portraiture, studio posters and behind the scene documentary. She is a European Nikon Ambassador and the first Irish member of The Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers.RENDR FestivalThis is a unique event celebrating creative craft and artistry in a fully immersive two-day festival exploring the space between Creativity and Technology.
This week, Nick and Les are heading to Ireland! We are diving deep into the new mystery-comedy from Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. We absolutely loved the sharp wit and chaotic energy of our three leads. It is a show that manages to be both hilarious and genuinely gripping, and we're breaking down why this specific blend of Irish humor works so well. In our TV Diaries, we're catching up on our eclectic weekly watches. Les took a detour into the woods with the new Adams Family horror film, Mother of Flies. It's a folk-horror trip that left him with plenty to talk about regarding atmosphere and those WTF moments the Adams family is known for. 1:05-13:00 TV Diaries 13:00-How to get to Heaven From Belfast #MotherOfFlies #HowToGetToHeavenFromBelfast
Time to dive into a mix of toxic romances, grocery store mysteries, and the ultimate tribute to lifelong female friendship.First, we’re checking in on the Tell Me Lies fandom, which is currently "going through it" after its shock cancellation. With all three seasons now available on Disney+, we discuss why this collegiate drama is the perfect, albeit triggering, binge for anyone who loves a messy, narcissistic romance. Then, things get steamy and suspicious with a new erotic mystery thriller on Amazon Prime. Based on a best-selling novel, this eight-episode series follows a couple who meet at a supermarket (suspicious!) and stars Dove Cameron and Avan Jogier. It’s the perfect blend of grizzly murder and high-intensity chemistry. Finally, we head to Northern Ireland for the new caper from the creator of Derry Girls. Netflix's How To Get To Heaven From Belfast is the new series from the creator of the beloved show Derry Girls. It follows three very messy longtime friends working together to solve a mystery from their youth. Part mystery and part comedy, it's a darkly funny adventure through Ireland and elsewhere, as they elude various pursuers, reopen old wounds, and try to find answers about what has happened to a friend they lost along the way.To access bonus episodes and sponsor-free listening for Pop Culture Happy Hour, subscribe to Pop Culture Happy Hour+ at plus.npr.org/happy.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
Kay returns to the regular pod this week and (purely by coincidence) Nothing goes quite to plan as our intent to review The Last Thing He Told Me is thwarted by an inconvenient embargo. However, that's okay because we manage to sub Bridgerton season 4 in as a last minute replacement. Elsewhere, we take a look at BBC1's Marian Keyes adaptation The Walsh Sisters, and see what Gabriel Basso is up to in the latest instalment of The Night Agent. Plus James gets terribly excited about the studio's new logo screen (which is finally working) and the team attempt to unpick those rare shows that have successfully reinvented themselves entirely. All that, and Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee joins star Sinéad Keenan to discuss Netflix's How To Get To Heaven From Belfast.
Editor - Nigel Williams How to Get to Heaven From Belfast editor Nigel Williams once again finds himself cutting with showrunner Lisa McGee. Having first worked with McGee on her hit series, Derry Girls, the two are back together for a show that features Lisa's well-known witty dialogue and quirky characters, but this time all wrapped up in a mystery. How to Get to Heaven From Belfast is an eight-part series that follows three longtime friends. Now in their late 30s, but still as close as ever, the girls are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives. When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, a series of eerie events at her wake set them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond. Together they try to piece together the truth of the past. It's a show about friendship, memory and what happens when life doesn't turn out quite like you'd expected. NIGEL WILLIAMS Nigel Williams is one of the most highly sought-after editors in comedy. He hit gold in 2000 when two strangers were looking to cut a pilot. Those strangers were Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Together they made one of the biggest comedies of all time, The Office. Nigel then went on to edit some of the most successful comedies on TV, including Extras, Outnumbered, Motherland, Horrible Histories and Tracey Ullman's Show. Nigel also edited 5 seasons of Episodes, starring Matt Leblanc, in Los Angeles, working with Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane (creator of Friends). Williams was thrilled that his recent work on hit show Derry Girls was recognized with a coveted BFE award for Best Editor. He has also co-founded Wrap Party Agency, and is committed to promoting more diversity and inclusion within post-production. Analizamos comenta sin spoilers How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, la nueva serie de Netflix creada por Lisa McGee, responsable de Derry Girls.

In this pivotal episode, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, Younger, Fair Play) and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, For the People) confront the painful truth behind Simon's vow never to have children. What begins as simmering tension erupts into one of the most talked-about and controversial scenes of the season, forcing both characters to reckon with betrayal, power, and the meaning of marriage. Meanwhile, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey, Wicked, Broadchurch) continues his complicated affair with Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett, The Larkins), torn between duty and desire. Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie, Vanity Fair, Line of Duty) grows increasingly determined to uncover the identity of Lady Whistledown, while Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan, Derry Girls, Barbie) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton, The Lodge) navigate shifting romantic expectations. ‘Derry Girls' and ‘Bridgerton' star Nicola Coughlan has spoken out against the “immense violation” of her privacy after seeing photos of herself on early dates with her partner.A new interview revealed that Coughlan finds it overwhelming to receive this level of scrutiny of her personal life from her fans and the media. This begs the question, do celebrities ‘owe' you insight into their life, and do we really need paparazzi shots?Joining guest host Anna Daly to discuss is Sarina Bellisimo, Broadcaster and Entertainment Journalist, Fashion Expert and Journalist Laura Mullett, Saoirse Hanley, Features Writer at the Independent, Ian O'Doherty, Irish Independent Columnist and more.
Send us a textKatie and Bridget read poems in a cave as they re-watch the movie: Dead Poets Society! We all remember how inspirational Robin Williams is as the teacher from this movie. In fact it was so iconic that its been replicated and spoofed plenty of times (looking at you Derry Girls)! But did you remember that its also very SAD!? And DEPRESSING!? Because TEEN SUICIDE IS REAL AND SCARY AND WE NEED TO TAKE MENTAL HEALTH MORE SERIOUSLY!!! .... Ahem, also conformity is evil. Yay! There's Neil, a thespian who we also should say RIP to; Todd, who's real shy until public poetry gives him confidence; Charlie, the only typical teenager in this gaggle; Knox, a guy that his crush probably should have called the police on; and Richard, a red-headed bitch who ruins lives! Together they learn about poetry, secret societies, and how not to walk in tandem with one another. Released in 1989, it stars Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, Gale Hansen, and Dylan Kussman.

Tá grianghraif, sceitsí agus litreacha ó chairde sa litir. Ba chuid de seo litir a scríobh Donald Trump chuig Epstein inar ghuigh sé breithlá sona dó. Tá an nóta breithlae i líníocht de chorp mná noichte. Shéan Donald Trump é roimhe seo, agus leanann sé ar aghaidh á shéanadh an tseachtain seo. Tá Bill Clinton liostaithe i rannóg na "gcairde" den leabhar agus deirtear gur thagair ambasadóir reatha na Ríochta Aontaithe chuig na Stáit Aontaithe, Peter Mandelson, d'Epstein mar "mo chara is fearr" ina litir féin. San iomlán, ainmnítear thart ar chéad caoga duine sa leabhar, lena n-áirítear pearsana poiblí eile ón saol acadúil agus ón dlí.D'éirigh Angela Rayner as a post mar leas-phríomhaire na Ríochta Aontaithe Dé hAoine seo caite tar éis scannal a bhain lena híocaíocht dleachta stampa. Tar éis di éirí as, lena n-áirítear a héirí as a post mar Aire Tithíochta, d'fhógair an príomh-aire atheagar na comh-aireachta. Mar thoradh air sin, tá trí cinn de na ceithre phríomhoifig stáit i seilbh mná den chéad uair. Tá ball den Gharda Síochána ina fhealltóir ar an gclár, agus tá caidreamh rúnda athair-mac ann freisin. The girls tackle another one-off with a celebrity charity bake off - benefitting Stand Up to Cancer. The cast of the Derry Girls square off with a signature trifle. Lisa and Allison introduce the cast and their acting credits, Allison remarks that Dylan was the weakest baker of the episode. Both girls agree that this may be the funniest episode either had ever seen. Lisa remembers receiving a trifle dish for a wedding gift and Alliison mentions never having seen a trifle before becoming an adult. Both girls take issue with Siobhan's addition of jelly, but both agree that Siobhan is hilarious. The belini technical has Allison scoffing at the lack of difficulty in making tiny canape pancakes. Both Lisa and Allison appreciated the sculpted cake final, and gave props to Dylan despite his use of fondant. The gray fondant 60's decade cake didn't dissuade the judges from awarding star baker to Soirse, and the girls end by foreshadowing their upcoming interview with a former GBBO finalist. This week on Sinica, I chat with veteran Wall Street Journal reporter Bob Davis, who has covered the U.S.-China relationship for decades. He recently published a new book called Broken Engagement, which consists of interviews with U.S. policymakers who were instrumental in shaping American policy toward China from the George H.W. Bush administration through the Biden administration. It's an eye-opening look at the individuals who fought for — and against — engagement with China.2:58 – Bob's thoughts on engagement: whether it was doomed from the start, when and why there was a shift, people's different aspirations for it and retrospective positioning, and whether it could have a transformative effect 13:28 – The Nancy Pelosi interview: her approach, her Taiwan visit, and her critique of capitulation to business interests17:18 – Bob's interviews with Charlene Barshefsky, Lawrence Summers, and Bob Zoellick: the WTO accession, the China shock, Zoellick's “responsible stakeholder” concept, and diplomacy as an ongoing process 27:24 – The Robert Gates interview: security-focused engagement, and his shift to realism 31:14 – Misreading Xi Jinping34:42 – Bob's interviews with Stephen Hadley and Ash Carter regarding the South China Sea 39:19 – The Matt Pottinger interview: his view on China and how COVID changed everything 46:14 – Michael Rogers' interview: cyber espionage and cyber policy 51:25 – Robert O'Brien's interview: the “reverse Kissinger” and Taiwan 54:14 – Bob's interview with Kurt Campbell: his famous Foreign Affairs essay, differentiating between decoupling and de-risking, and technology export restrictions and trade deals 59:28 – The Rahm Emanuel interview: his response to wolf warrior diplomacy1:01:57 – Bob's takeaways: the long-term vision of engagement, introspective interviewees, and his own increased pessimism Paying It Forward: Lingling Wei at The Wall Street Journal; Eva Dou at The Washington Post and her book House of Huawei: The Secret History of China's Most Powerful Company; and Katrina Northrop at The Washington Post Recommendations: Bob: The TV series Derry Girls (2018-2022) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-2024); and Margaret O'Farrell's novels, including Hamnet and The Marriage Portrait Kaiser: The BBC and Masterpiece series Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Check out this trailer for a new history podcast from the BBC. Actress Nicola Coughlan, from Bridgerton and Derry Girls, hosts History's Youngest Heroes – a podcast telling twelve true stories of rebellion, risk and the radical power of youth. Nicola Coughlan shares inspiring tales of both famous and forgotten young heroes – like Audrey Hepburn, who took on the Nazis during World War Two before becoming a Hollywood Star – and Nelson Mandela, who was only a young activist when attempting to overthrow the South African government to end apartheid. This podcast demonstrates how young peoples' bravery can change history. Listen to the teaser here – and find History's Youngest Heroes, from the BBC, wherever you get your podcasts.
