70% of what American children eat today is ultra processed food and the regulatory system that's supposed to protect them has been asleep for decades. In this episode, I sit down with Nick Green, co-founder and CEO of Thrive Market, the membership-based online grocery platform that built a $700 million business by treating healthy food access as an infrastructure problem, not a willpower problem. Nick grew up watching his mother drive across Minnesota to find organic options before the internet existed and 20 years later, built the company meant to make that struggle obsolete. We get into the GRAS self-certification loophole that lets food companies rubber stamp their own ingredients as safe, why synthetic dyes and preservatives banned across Europe remain standard in the US, and how Thrive goes beyond EU standards to vet every single product on its platform. We also cover what the GLP-1 trend is actually revealing about the deeper food system failure, why the American healthcare model was built for infectious disease and is fundamentally unprepared for chronic disease prevention, and the shared metabolic roots of cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's. Nick breaks down how AI is now personalizing the grocery experience for 1.7 million members, why becoming a public benefit corporation was a legal commitment to the mission not just a branding decision and what it actually takes to keep a company anchored to its Northstar when investors, scale, and short-term incentives are all pulling in the opposite direction. Joe Rose and Kim Bokamper open the hour with a discussion about injuries in sports, highlighting players like JuJu Brents and Austin Jackson and emphasizing how important it is for both to stay healthy this season. They talk about how injuries are part of the game, but note how the approach has changed over time, with today's players having more financial leverage, stronger agent influence, and a greater incentive to protect long-term contracts compared to the tougher, more “play through anything” era Joe and Bokamper came up in. The conversation also expands into how much money is now flowing through both the NFL and college football, including rising coach salaries and the changing business of the sport. The hour then shifts to baseball discussion before Marlins manager Clayton McCullough joins to break down Miami's recent sweep of the Nationals, praise Otto Lopez's breakout season, and highlight strong performances from Xavier Edwards, Liam Hicks, and Max Meyer as the Marlins continue trying to find consistency.
Cellular Health, Travel Fatigue, and Why Your Body Feels Off After a Trip Fatigue after travel isn't just about being tired — it can affect your gut health, hormone balance, metabolism, brain fog, and energy. Have you ever come home from a trip feeling bloated, constipated, foggy, run down, or completely exhausted? In this episode, I'm talking with Dr. Monisha Bhanote about what really happens inside the body when we travel — and why symptoms like low energy, digestive issues, stress, bloating, and sluggish recovery are not random. Dr. Bhanote brings a unique perspective to cellular health because she has spent years studying cells, tissues, and disease patterns under the microscope. We talk about how travel can impact digestion, immunity, focus, mitochondrial energy, and recovery — and why your gut can even experience its own version of jet lag. If you struggle with fatigue, brain fog, IBS, bloating, constipation, weight loss resistance, perimenopause symptoms, or feeling "off" after travel, this episode will help you understand what your body may be trying to tell you. Key Points • Why travel can disrupt your gut microbiome and trigger bloating, constipation, and digestive issues. • How airplane travel may affect brain fog, focus, and energy. • Why cortisol, dehydration, caffeine, alcohol, and poor sleep can drain your metabolism. • What cellular health has to do with feeling better and recovering faster. Listen In This conversation will help you see travel fatigue in a whole new way. Inside the episode, we connect the dots between gut health, stress, inflammation, hormones, detoxification, and cellular energy — so you can better understand why your body feels different when your routine changes. Why are Americans going broke trying to stay healthy? The real question is why is healthcare in America so expensive in the first place — and who profits from it?On this episode of the Lean to the Left podcast, Bob Gatty talks with Dr. Adam Cunningham, founder of Sylk Health, about the hidden costs of healthcare, the medical debt crisis, and why millions of Americans are struggling to afford treatment. They discuss:• Why hospital pricing is intentionally hidden• How medical debt drives bankruptcy in America• Why healthcare has become a social justice issue• The shocking cost differences between U.S. and overseas treatment• Medical tourism and affordable care abroad• Insurance companies, hospital lobbying, and pharmaceutical profits• Medicare, supplemental insurance, and rising costs for seniors• Alzheimer's care and the crushing financial burden on families• Why meaningful healthcare reform remains so difficultDr. Cunningham explains how Sylk Health compares medical procedure costs between the U.S. and accredited hospitals in China, giving patients new options when facing massive medical bills. This conversation goes beyond politics and gets to the heart of a broken healthcare system that leaves working families drowning in debt while corporations profit.

Buoyed by some stellar defensive play, the Purple Team beat Team Gold 27-10 in the annual 'Dawgs After Dark' Spring Game at Husky Stadium Friday night. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were on hand to check everything out and talk about the stars of the night, as well as talk about some of the players we didn't get to see as much of. And there was also talk about the format of the game, how the team was split up via a draft so it wasn't best on best, twos on twos, etc... and whether or not other teams would get anything out of it while scouting them as opponents. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update on the players that were seen there, as well as what the UW coaches have on their plates as they enter a very busy May evaluation period where they can hit the road on search of more 2027 recruits for their class, as well as lay the groundwork with future classes. And then the guys offer up their final thoughts on the game, on spring in general, and what the Huskies have to do in the offseason this summer to really hit the ground running when August training camp arrives. Today, we are diving deep into the concept of Vibrational Nutrition. For our "Silver Streakers" and the younger generation alike, wellness isn't just about what you chew; it's about what you resonate with.In collaboration with the tonal work of Seth Leaf Pruzansky, we are exploring how concentrated vibrations act as a "nutrient" for our vital organs. Just as your body metabolizes a vitamin, your organs "metabolize" frequency to maintain their structural integrity and energetic coherence.Every organ has its own "resonant signature." When we provide the body with concentrated tonal vibrations, we are effectively feeding these organs the frequency they need to stay "in tune."The Nutrition: The heart is the strongest generator of electromagnetic energy in the body. Vibrational nutrition for the heart focuses on coherence. The Benefit: Using tones near 528Hz (often called the "Love Frequency") or 639Hz helps "feed" the heart's field, promoting emotional balance and helping the heart-brain connection stabilize. The Nutrition: The lungs thrive on the mechanical movement of sound. The Benefit: Concentrated vibrations help "scrub" the respiratory system. Tones in the 417Hz range are often used to help clear energy blocks, which physically manifests as aiding the loosening of mucus and increasing the efficiency of oxygen-CO2 exchange. The Nutrition: The brain consumes more energy than any other organ. "Vibrational feeding" here involves Brainwave Entrainment. The Benefit: Tonal work at 40Hz is currently being studied for its ability to stimulate the brain's "waste removal" system (the glymphatic system). This is "brain food" that helps clear out cellular debris and keeps cognitive functions sharp for our Silver Streakers. For our audience, use this checklist during your practice with Seth's guided meditations to ensure you are "digesting" the tones fully:K (Kinesthetic): Feel the vibration in your hands—this is vital for those of us working through dexterity challenges. Let the "tingle" be your therapy.A (Auditory): Listen for the "overtones" in the singing bowls or Seth's tonal work.V (Visual): Imagine the vibration as a golden mist entering the Heart, Lungs, and Brain.E (Emotional): Notice the shift from "static" (stress) to "flow" (peace).C (Conceptual): Remind yourself: "I am not just hearing this; I am feeding my cells."O (Olfactory): Pair the session with a scent like Frankincense or Eucalyptus to open the airways.G (Gustatory): Observe the "metallic" or "sweet" sensation that sometimes arises on the tongue during deep resonance.S (Spatial): Feel the sound expand from your center to the edges of the room.Whether you are 1 or 92, your body is a symphony. If an organ is "out of tune," it becomes "malnourished" of its natural frequency. Today, take 10 minutes to sit with a concentrated tone. Let Seth's vibrations be the supplement that brings your internal orchestra back into harmony.Stay Healthy, Stay Wealthy, and Keep Resonating!Vibrational Medicine and the Science of SoundThis video explores how specific frequencies and binaural beats can be used to reset the nervous system and support the body's natural healing energy.Feeding the Vital Centers: Organ-Specific Tones1. Welcome back to the podcast. Chris here! Today I'm sitting down with someone who has become not just a client, but a coach and a friend—Ben Brown. And if there's one thing I want you to take from this conversation, it's this: your health isn't just about how you look… it determines how you show up in your life. One of the first things we got into was why health is often the first thing to fall off for parents. And honestly, it makes sense. The moment you have kids, your priorities shift. You want to give everything to your family. But what we talked about is how that can actually become counterproductive. Because if you're not taking care of yourself, you're not showing up as your best for the people who matter most. It's that simple but hard truth: taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's one of the most selfless things you can do. We also talked about something that I think a lot of people need to hear: most of us don't have a time problem—we have a commitment problem. It's really easy to say "I don't have time" or "I'm too busy," but when you actually look at your day, there are always opportunities. Whether it's getting up a little earlier, going for a walk during your kid's practice, or simply being more intentional with how you spend your evenings, there are small decisions available to all of us that can start to shift everything. Ben shared a really practical way to think about this, which I loved—having a "floor" and a "ceiling." Your ceiling is what you'd love to do on your best days. But your floor is what you commit to no matter what. And for a lot of people, that can be as simple as moving your body every day, creating some structure around your eating, and prioritizing your sleep. Those small, consistent actions start to build something much bigger: a new identity. And that's really what this comes down to. More is caught than taught. Your kids are always watching. Your health will either allow you to fully participate in your life—or it will force you to sit on the sidelines. So the question isn't just "Do I want to be healthier?" It's "Who do I want to be for my family?" Because when you start to answer that honestly, the decisions you need to make become a lot more clear. Now I spend $1,200 and stick to it every single month. That's a 40% reduction, or $800 in savings every month! And I'm doing it without extreme couponing, without buying ten newspapers every Sunday, and without rushing from store to store at 5am. If your grocery bill has been creeping up and you feel like you can't control it, this video is for you. Sign up today to be first to know when registration opens! → https://halfsizeme.com/cart Here's what changed for me: I stopped shopping at just one store assuming they had the best prices I got intentional with meal planning (really intentional) I started doing most of my shopping decisions BEFORE I left the house I eliminated the food waste from buying things I never used I balanced HEALTH and SAVINGS together (no "just eat beans and rice" mentality) What I'm NOT doing: ❌ Extreme couponing ❌ Rebate apps (though I'll teach you how, if you want to use them) ❌ Shopping at 10 different stores every week ❌ Sacrificing my family's health to save money I went from being a full-time extreme couponer back in 2008–2012 (cutting coupons from 10 newspapers, working CVS and Walgreens deals) to completely letting go of that during my weight loss journey and Half Size Me launch. But when our grocery budget kept climbing year after year, I knew I had to do something. I just didn't want to go back to that exhausting coupon life. So I figured out a simpler, more sustainable way. And now I'm teaching it. In this video, I share: Why I was so resistant to tackling my grocery budget (and what finally made me do it) How we paid off $180,000 in debt using Dave Ramsey's methods The difference between my old extreme couponing days and what I do now Why your food bill is probably your second-highest expense (and why that matters) How being intentional with planning saves more money than chasing deals Why I didn't drop from $2,000 to $1,200 overnight (and why you shouldn't either) The biggest mistake people make: buying "deals" that sabotage their weight loss goals This is NOT just about saving money. It's about saving money while ALSO supporting your health and weight loss goals. I refuse to teach you to eat junk food all day just because it's cheap. We're going to do this the right way... together.

You can see it in action on our YouTube channel. They're also trusted by physical therapists, where they're commonly used during injury recovery so you can keep running with less load and impact. Go to levermovement.com and use code Strength20 (with a capital S) for 20% off any system . Or, enter their giveaway here. Just don't wait too long - the giveaway only lasts until the end of March. Wondering what you can realistically do to stay healthy during training, travel, and sick season? That's what Laura Ligos, RD (aka The Sassy Dietitian) and I chat about in Episode 130 of The Eat for Endurance Podcast. This episode is not about immune “hacks” or doing more. Instead, we break down what actually supports immune health from a nutrition and lifestyle perspective, and explore where athletes often get tripped up when training, underfueling, poor sleep, and life stress stack up.Laura and I discuss:How training, recovery, fueling, sleep, and life stress interact to influence immune functionThe J-curve relationship between exercise and immune health Why eating enough is key to preventing illnessThe role of carbs, specific micronutrients, and other fueling patternsWhy sleep and rest from exercise make your immune system more resilientWhat to do if you've been exposed to illness but aren't sick yetDietary and lifestyle tips for when symptoms start showing upWhich supplements may be helpful, and when to take themHow your approach should differ when dealing with respiratory vs GI illness Immune health considerations during travel, including foodborne illnessIf you're dealing with stress, constant colds, lingering fatigue, or that frustrating feeling of being almost sick for days on end, this conversation is for you.
