Cato will continue rising to meet liberty's greatest challenges—from executive power to out-of-control spending in Congress—because doing so is our moral responsibility. Cato president and CEO Peter Goettler will provide an overview of Cato's commitment to keeping liberty alive for future generations, our priorities, and the investments we are making to advance our vision of a free and open society in which liberty allows every individual to pursue a life of prosperity and meaning in peace. Peter also looks forward to receiving your feedback in a Q&A session. In 2008, Senior Vice President for Policy Gene Healy wrote The Cult of the Presidency: America's Dangerous Devotion to Executive Power because he believed the American presidency had become an extraconstitutional monstrosity and a libertarian nightmare, “the source of much of our political woe and some of the gravest threats to our liberties.” For the 2024 presidential election, Cato is re-releasing Healy's book with a new foreword calling on Americans to change what we ask of the office—or we'll continue to get, in a sense, what we deserve. The modern presidency has become a job that is everything from culture warrior in chief to guardian angel. And in our partisan myopia, we've unwittingly created the infrastructure for autocratic rule and sectarian warfare. How did we get here, and what can we do to prevent the presidency from tearing the country apart? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Is the USA currently in the early stages of sectarian conflict over its civil religion? In this episode of the DHP, CJ rebroadcasts his 2016 Election Special on America's Civil Religion (in order to review the concept of civil religion & its manifestation in the United States); this is followed by new material, reflecting on how CJ's understanding of the American civil religion has changed somewhat since 2016. He then goes on to compare and contrast the current political conflicts in the US to the Protestant Reformation in 16th and 17th century Europe, as well as the pietist-vs-liturgical split in American Christianity in the 19th century, before wrapping up with some humble observations and suggestions for people who are (like CJ) nonbelievers in any civil religion & who want to weather the current conflicts as best they can. The concept of impeachment was not new at the time of the Constitutional Convention. The Framers thought including the ability to impeach the Chief Magistrate to the Constitution was extremely important. However, today it is hard to picture in our polarized political climate that there would ever be a super majority in the Senate in order to impeach and remove a president. Were there debates about including impeachment in the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention? What is the scope of the impeachment clause? What does the process of impeachment look like? What level of incompetence could be grounds for impeachment?Further Reading:Democrats Abandon the Constitution, written by David B. Rivkin Jr. and Lee A. This episode ties together everything we've learned so far in our series about devotions, which includes Episode 60: Dangerous Devotion and Episode 61: A Medihealing® on Breaking the Shackles of Devotion. Now that we've established what toxic worship looks like and how to remove it, we are ready to explore what healthy devotion is and how it can benefit your life. I talk about what it means to have a healthy devotion. I give an overview of the nature of Pure Source and explain how Exponential Intelligence® views both positive and negative devotions. I tell you about the only devotion that really matters, and how all the other forces we devote our lives to pursuing simply won't give us that sense of safety and fulfillment we are looking for. You'll learn the stages of unhealthy devotions, and how they can take your power away before you realize that they're harmful. We will also talk about ways to remove yourself from unhealthy devotions and how to learn why you got into them in the first place. I discuss the gifts of famed personal development coach Tony Robbins, and observe how he and I could work together to change the world. I explain why no one should "worship" me or anyone else, and how disempowering that practice can be. I end our talk by explaining that our desire to worship others is nothing more than an urge to appreciate the greatness within ourselves. In the customized Medihealing, a powerful meditation and healing in one, I'll help you take control of your own life and unravel why you may have had unhealthy devotions in the past. We will explore the true meaning behind harmful devotion so that you never fall into it again. You will finally understand what a healthy devotion really is and learn to control your own power. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mas-sajady/message

This episode is a customized Medihealing® where we explore how it feels to release the shackles that bind us in the name of devotion and worship A Medihealing is a meditation and healing in one to accelerate personal growth. This podcast is part of our series on devotion that started with episode 60: Dangerous Devotion. As I explained in the previous Episode, the EI definition of devotion is standing in the strength of your connection to Pure Source and recognizing that what you are devoted to is simply another extension of the same energy. You are complete, and do not need any person, entity or organization to fulfill you.  This pertains to all aspects of life; relationships, self, religion, work. I discuss how I can help reprogram and remove the shackles you wear. This will free you from the shackles of devotion that weigh you down and hold you back from embracing your true self. Also, I review how devotion can be passed from other lifetimes and your family lineage.  And we work together to decipher when is the right time to remove those distortions.  Distortions are harmful patterns of frequencies that we absorb over the course of our current and past lifetimes that create everything in our life that is not in alignment with our spirit.  This Medihealing will bring you into a space that is free and unbound from any limitations or control sources.  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mas-sajady/message

In this episode we explore the various toxic forms of worship that can take your power away from you, and how to protect yourself from them. These unbalanced relationships can include cults, religions, celebrities, and possibly even some of your friends and romantic partners. Once we are conscious of the dangers they present, we can take our power back and live authentic lives in total connection with Pure Source. I discuss what worship really means and why I don't like it when people say they worship me or anyone else. We talk about different types of cults and religions, and the seductive power of cult leaders, religious icons and gurus. I explain why so many people of all ages have been controlled by these forces, as well as how to identify if you are under their influence and get out of that situation and reconnect with who you really are. I address the worship of celebrities, politicians and sex, and the spiritual problems that this presents especially with the power of social media behind them. I emphasize the importance of not giving your identity and power away to any external person or organization, so that you can live your life from a genuine empowered space. I talk about my experience at my Divine Atrocity event in Denver, Colorado where dark forces actually attempted to stop my seminar on the dangers of religious devotion. I explain how I pushed past them despite several major obstacles, and the value you can get by facing any force oppressing you in a similar way. I discuss how you can be religious or spiritual without giving away control of your life, and what it takes to get to that space and stay there. I remind you of your divine nature, and how you never need to look outside of yourself to feel complete. You always have everything you need within you. In the customized Medihealing®, a powerful meditation and healing in one, I'll help you examine your relationships to find those where you may have given your power away. Armed with this awareness, you can change or remove these connections and live your life from a place of empowerment, strength and confidence. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mas-sajady/message
