It’s Deactivation Week!! On December 10th in Australia (which is really December 9 in the US), the first-ever social media ban will take effect. The major platforms are required by law to deactivate the accounts of children and teens under 16. Kelly reviews the details of the new law, the pushback from Big Tech, advocacy groups, parents, and teens, and why all of this is so important. Alpha Omega is a Shadowrun-esque heartbreaker that covers a lot of territory. NWT Nominee Program applications open November 10 with revised eligibility criteria The third 2025 intake of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program opens on November 10 at 9 a.m. These additional spots come following extensive advocacy work by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), leading to the Government of Canada's decision earlier this month to restore the territory's yearly full allocation of 300 nominations. To fill the remaining nomination spots in a timely manner, the program guidelines have been updated through to the end of 2025, changing eligibility criteria for applicants and employers. These revised guidelines include three key changes: 1. Removing the limit on employer applications: Employers will no longer be limited on the number of applications they can submit based on business size. 2. Removing work permit expiry date requirements: Under the revised guidelines, applicants with a valid work permit who meet all other eligibility criteria may now apply, regardless of their work permit expiry date. 3. Reinstating the previous work experience requirement: The Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry streams will return to the work experience criteria used in 2024 and earlier. Applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience within the last 10 years in the same or a similar occupation as the one for which they are being nominated. This experience may come from different employers. These changes will remain in place for the remainder of 2025. Application intake closes November 24, 2025, 5 p.m. The Northwest Territories Nominee Program will aim to process up to 103 eligible applications in order to meet its revised 300 nominations for 2025. Applications received in excess of 103 or applications that cannot be finalized by December 23, 2025, will be withdrawn. Happy Halloween 2025! In this electrifying Halloween Special, Jay of the Dead and Mackula welcome esteemed guest, Dr. Rick Moody, retired film professor and first-time podcaster, for a very controversial and unconventional "count-up" of their Revised Top 10 All-Time Best Horror Movies! Dr. Moody is one of Jay of the Dead's mentors, and he was also the film professor of three Horror Avengers: Jay, Mackula and Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! Doc Moody was formerly more into disturbing Horror movies but has since mellowed in recent years. Even so, he remains a big fan and connoisseur of Found Footage and lesser-known Horror content found on YouTube! But back to this show… As Doc Moody would say, Episode 168 "delivers the goods" with not one but three Top 10 lists, and trust us, you've never heard all-time favorite Horror lists like these before! Y'all are probably gonna have kittens! Along the way, the hosts pay tribute to the late Diane Keaton, discuss Shelley Duvall as Mackula's "cinema mom," and reflect on the eerie setting of this episode, as it was recorded during an atmospheric and formidable, Utah thunderstorm. As each movie pick is revealed, the conversation meanders off into relevant and random tangents about some of Horror's dark corners, such as "Experiential Horror." During this show, we also reveal which Horror Avenger longs to moonlight as a "ghost therapist." Listeners will even hear about Mackula's past ambitions as an actor; his live, on-air freak-out over fingernail tapping at his window; and an impromptu cameo from Dr. Moody's cat, "Mimi." With humor, insight, and devil-may-care-giving-zero-effs attitudes, these three Horror fans celebrate some notable contenders of the Horror genre (as well as some shocking selections outside of it). The IDF announced this morning that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is now once again in effect, following “a series of significant strikes” targeting dozens of Hamas targets and operatives. The strikes came after Palestinian operatives carried out an attack on troops stationed in the Rafah area of the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, killing soldier Master Sgt. (res.) Yona Efraim Feldbaum. This strike on IDF soldiers, along with Hamas’s failure to return the deceased Israeli hostages -- even faking the recovery of one slain hostage -- led to Israel's retaliation, which, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, killed over 100. Horovitz weighs in on the nature of Hamas and the White House's recognition of Israel's right to retaliate. We hear how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the US of his intention to strike, and today appears bent on continuing with the Trump-brokered ceasefire. The Haredi community in Israel is planning a massive protest at the entrance of Jerusalem tomorrow, while the High Court is hearing petitions that the IDF draft tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox young men, and at the same time, the Knesset is working to draft a bill that will allow most of the Haredi young men to continue to avoid conscription. We learn some details of the leaked bill being discussed by the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and hear about some of the Likud MKs who are speaking out against it. In this first installment of Antifascist Christianity: Black Jesus, Matthew revisits Dietrich Bonhoeffer's journey from the theological classrooms of Berlin to the Black churches of Harlem — where he encountered a Jesus entirely unlike the imperial figure of his upbringing. Bonhoeffer arrived in New York a servant of white European Christendom, and left transformed by the radical, suffering, and liberatory presence of Black Jesus. Matthew connects Bonhoeffer's awakening to today's spectacle of white nationalism in worship — from the triumphalist religion on display at Charlie Kirk's memorial to the enduring cultural power of “white Jesus” as theology for empire. Drawing on Reggie Williams's Bonhoeffer's Black Jesus, Cedric Robinson's Black Marxism, and Jeanelle Hope and Bill Mullen's The Black Antifascist Tradition, the episode traces how colonialism created a Christ built to bless domination, and how the Black church reclaimed him through solidarity, suffering, and resistance.
