There are some that are harder than others but the Lord brings us out of them time and again. They are all part of our preparation for things future because we were being taught how to trust and lean upon the Lord. In older age we are experiencing harder things that are unavoidable but our "strength is firm," because we have been fighting our way to heaven by faith in God. The outcome is always sure and our hopes are never disappointed. Jon and I are facing a new time in our lives after his recent heart attack. We know the Lord is with us and our future is in His hands. I love these words by Amy Carmichael that have become very dear to me in old age. They are inscribed in my Bible and referenced often:"We stand, when we are young, on the sunny slope among the pines, and look across an unknown country to the mountains. There are clouds, but they are edged with light. We do not fear as we dip into the valley; we do not fear the clouds. Thank God for the splendid fearlessness of youth. From the crowd shouting “Crucify Him!” in Mark 15, to Joshua's bold call, “Choose this day whom you will serve,” to King Agrippa's near-conversion in Acts 26—Scripture reminds us that every heart stands at a crossroads. In this episode, we reflect on the urgency of choosing Jesus—not someday, but today. Indecision is still a decision. Delayed obedience is still disobedience. The question isn't just historical—it's personal: Will you follow Him, or walk away? Don't wait. The choice is yours… and it matters for eternity.

What are the characteristics of effective prayers and praying? Well, one of them is praying biblically in accordance with the will of God from Scripture. Few were equal or better than this than the Puritans. One of the greatest devotionals I've ever read and meditated upon is titled, "The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions," edited by Arthur Bennett. It is an inspirational collection of prayers/devotionals that will certainly engage the reader's heart and mind to learn prayer and follow Christ more closely. This prayer on this episode of 2Days Denarius is titled, "Morning Dedication." The author of the prayer is not given, as none are in the book. But prayers from names such as, Richard Baxter, David Brainerd, Thomas Watson, Isaac Watts, Charles Spurgeon, among others are the ones who are the contributors to this collection. Whether it be for spiritual renewal or needing to physically rest or emergencies that happen. Psalm 127:4 says that children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior. As parents, we shape our arrows and send them into the future. We decide where to aim. For Christians, the goal is to launch Christ followers, children who know their purpose and will impact the future for Him. We can't control, predict, or fix every challenge our children face, but we can pray to One who loves them more than we do and never leaves them. We can let God use our toughest seasons as parents to grow our faith and turn us into prayer warriors. It was a calm down time It was a quiet time It was a special and fun time We have many scheduled habits We brush our teeth We watch certain shows We eat at certain times We leave for school at specific times Schedule in a way that fits your family Make the schedule a habit Communicate the schedule Change it as needed . . .
