Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 7:13-16 2 Corinthians 7:16 – “I am glad I can have complete confidence in you.” In this devotion, Pastor Sumrall reflects on Paul's relationship with the Corinthian church. Though he had to bring strong correction, the believers responded with humility, repentance, and respect—not only toward Paul but also toward Titus, his fellow worker. This brought encouragement to Paul's heart and deepened Titus's love for the church. Today we are reminded that correction is an act of love. When we receive it with humility, it helps us grow in Christ, strengthens our fellowship, and brings joy to those who lead us. ------ Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Welcome to Devotions by the Sea, our brand-new devotional series where we take everyday elements of God's creation and discover His truth in them. In this episode, Waves of the Sea, we dive into James 1:5-6, where Scripture reminds us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, who gives generously to all.Just like waves are not random splashes, but powerful forces of energy moving through the water—caused by wind, tides, and even storms—our faith is shaped by what moves us. God uses the imagery of waves to describe how people respond to faith: sometimes steady, sometimes tossed about. But wisdom is more than head knowledge. It's not just facts—it's God's truth guiding our steps. He has a plan and purpose for each of us, and He longs for us to discover it. The question is: How do we find out what that plan is?Join us as we unpack the beauty of waves, the depth of God's wisdom, and the assurance that when we seek Him, He will guide us with clarity and purpose.------------------------------------------------------------------------------CREDITS: Developed & Hosted by Michael Lane. Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 “There is nothing new under the sun.” In this episode of Daily Devotions with Pastor David Sumrall, we're reminded through both personal stories and Scripture that history repeats itself. Pastor shares a lesson he first learned from his grandfather—that fashions, ideas, and even false doctrines often return in cycles. Just as Solomon taught, what we face today has already been seen before. Discover why studying Biblical history and the lives of believers from the past equips us to stand firm in truth today. Be encouraged to look back at God's Word and learn how His people walked with Him through every season, knowing He is faithful yesterday, today, and forever. ------- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Scripture Reading: Job 42:7-12 Job 42:7–12 (NLT) – “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before.” As we close out the book of Job, Pastor Sumrall highlights an important lesson: God was angry not at what Job's friends said to him, but at how they misrepresented God. Their words of condemnation in Job's darkest hours stirred God's anger because they spoke falsely about Him. Yet, God showed mercy—but only after Job's friends humbled themselves, honored Job, and asked him to pray for them. And only when Job released bitterness, forgave, and prayed for them did God restore his fortunes twofold. This powerful truth reminds us: when others have wronged us—especially during our lowest seasons—God calls us to forgive, pray for them, and let go of resentment. In doing so, we position ourselves for His restoration and blessing. Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation (NLT). It does not take long for tens of thousands to take a hold of these messages becoming convinced of their validity and truth because of external signs and confirmations. Lately there has been a message that has gone epically viral regarding the timing of the day of the Rapture. The dates fall on the 23rd or the 25th of September depending on the timing of the Feast of Trumpets. Many are convinced it will be so. Since the first time I listened to the video I have spent time in much prayer and meditating on it. I have gone over the details of the information asking God about it and I have never received a witness of it as of yet. What is most important to me above everything external is the witness of the Holy Spirit within my own spirit and not looking for outward signs. I do not trust outward signs especially these days of perilous deception. However, there are times that are appropriate that we must ask God to show us a sign for something in regard to critical choices needing to be made. It is of tantamount and critical importance to me in a deeply personal way that what is to be believed and accepted must be inwardly verified by God irrefutably. IF the rapture happens on or around those days then it will be wonderful, and I will be thrilled to go. But if not, then there must be a readiness to continue on as faithfully as before with joy until it happens. These are my quiet humble expressions relating to these things respectively."Always keep a quiet heart."- Elisabeth Elliot

Scripture Reading:Job 38:36 Job 38:36 (NLT) – “Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?”  In today's Daily Devotions, Pastor Sumrall reflects on the God-given instincts and intuition that are part of His creation. From the natural instincts of babies and animals to the inner sense of right and wrong even in unbelievers (Romans 2:14), we see how God has woven His law into human hearts. But as Scripture warns, false teachers operate as “creatures of instinct” (2 Peter 2:12; Jude 10, 18), following their natural desires rather than the Spirit of God, and causing division. As believers, we are not called to live by instinct but to walk in the Spirit. In Christ, we are made new, led not by our fallen nature but by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. Be encouraged today: you are not bound to your old instincts—you are led by the Spirit as a child of God. Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation (NLT). Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 4:1, 16 2 Corinthians 4:1, 16 – “Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up… That is why we never give up.” In today's Daily Devotions, Pastor Sumrall reminds us that as believers, we are not quitters. Just as Paul declared, “we never give up,” there are four powerful reasons we can hold on and keep going. In the hard times, God reveals His power through our weakness. We continue because we have faith in Him. Our spirits are renewed daily as we spend time with Jesus. And finally, we keep our eyes not on temporary troubles, but on the eternal glory that far outweighs them all. If you're tempted to quit, be encouraged: God is with you, He is strengthening you, and He will finish the good work He began in your life. Don't quit! Scripture Reading: Proverbs 11:24-25 Proverbs 11:24–25 – “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.  In today's Daily Devotions, Pastor Sumrall reminds us of the simple yet powerful principle of generosity. The Bible teaches that generosity leads to prosperity, while stinginess leads to loss. Whether we have little or much, choosing to live with a generous heart opens the door to God's blessings and refreshment. Let's always walk in generosity and trust God to prosper us in every season of life. Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation (NLT). Send us a textShame can be a powerful prison. In this intimate devotional episode, we dive deep into the aftermath of humanity's first murder through the lens of Genesis 4:12-15. The story of Cain's punishment reveals profound truths about our own struggles with sin, shame, and separation from God.What happens when the weight of our actions becomes too heavy to carry? Cain's lament that "my punishment is too great to bear" echoes through time into the hearts of many today. Drawing from his experiences ministering to men in prison, Dr. Papa illuminates how this ancient cry mirrors what he's witnessed firsthand—the paralysis that comes when shame overwhelms us. Even believers who intellectually understand Christ's redemptive work find themselves trapped in this self-imposed exile, separated from God, family, and purpose. The contrast between Cain and his parents offers a striking lesson. While Adam and Eve understood that blood sacrifice pointed toward a future Messiah, Cain rejected this path to restoration. His story serves as a powerful warning about the consequences of unconfessed sin and rebellion against God's design. Yet even in judgment, we glimpse God's mercy through the mysterious protective sign placed on Cain. The message culminates in a soul-stirring invitation: Will you continue wandering as a vagrant in your shame, or will you run into the loving arms of Jesus, who bore your sin and shame on the cross? "He who believes in Him will not be ashamed, will not be disappointed." The choice is yours—continued separation or complete restoration through Christ, who waits with open arms to receive you. Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 2:17 In today's message, Pastor Sumrall shares Paul's powerful reminder about the true motivation of ministry. Unlike those who preach for personal profit, Paul declared: “We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ's authority, knowing that God is watching us.” Discover why offerings should always lead hearts toward God, not toward individuals. Learn the dangers of giving directly to personalities instead of to the work of the Kingdom, and how our hearts follow our treasure (Matthew 6:21). Pastor also explains why, at COP, offerings are never taken for personal use—because true ministry points people to Jesus, not to self. Young pastors are reminded: every sermon you preach, God is watching. Preach with sincerity, grace, and integrity, knowing you stand before Him as you serve His people. ----- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Yes, her eyes were kept from the revealing of who it was she was talking with face to face. Yet I see something more. So many illustrations and visual depictions of what the resurrected Christ looked like all seem to be the same. I too have had the same thoughts of Him in brilliant shining garments 'other worldly,' glimmering in afterlife heavenly apparel. Like in the Mount of Transfiguration when, "He prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering." Luke 9:29.But that could not be the case here. Mary's eyes were withheld from seeing Him on purpose. "She knew not that it was Jesus." But she recognized Him as a gardener by what He was wearing. Gardeners during those days wore simple, practical clothing as other working-class people adapted for manual labor, which distinguished them from wealthy individuals. They wore a knee length tunic of two pieces sown together made of linen or wool. They wore a belt of cord or cloth, or leather to hold tools. They wore a heavy outer garment to protect them from the hot sun and weather, and simple leather sandals. The colors of the tunic were undyed natural earth colors like off whites, browns and grays. I believe that Jesus wanted it this way on purpose. Because though His work was done, our work is not. "In other words, "I am still working with you."These humble gardener's garments must be ours all the days of our lives as His laborers in the earth. So, we too will always be seen as the gardeners of the Lord...sowing seeds of eternal life and light.“I have one desire now - to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it.”― Elisabeth Elliot, Through Gates of Splendor

He was not just asking him why, He knew why.I get a greater, deeper sense that He was saying this in essence with another meaning. As if He was saying to him in other words, "Why are you here? You had time to not be here by choice after I sent you out earlier."Jesus calling Judas "Friend," was the thing. As if He was really saying to him, "You don't have to be here." He still counted him and held his place for him as "Friend." That was a well intentioned, direct- to-the-heart word. There may be a night hour in your life where Jesus will be meeting you in a dark place which used to be the garden you used to dwell with Him in. But became a place of compromise and dwelling in shadows of shame because you "wandered out of the path of the cross. But it is different now, Jesus goes to those who have wandered away from Him. He goes looking for them. To those who are hiding in darkness, in the shadows of sin, in fluid sorrow, too ashamed to go to Him. To those, "Who used to go with Him into the house of God in company."Whom He will say in that same loving voice Judas knew knew so well, "Friend," wherefore are you here?" As in that same familiar comforting sound Mary Magdelene heard from her resurrected "Friend," whom she thought to be the gardener...."Mary." Jesus never stops calling you "Friend," in times of failure. And in that very place, "returning and rest, quietness and confidence," will be restored. "And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain." - 2 Samuel 23:4"Keep on the path with the mountain in view."- Amy Carmichael
