Daily Devotions: Thoughts Regarding Offering - February 14, 2026

Leviticus 1:3 (ESV) “If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on what the book of Leviticus teaches us about offerings given to God. The Lord instructed His people to bring their offerings personally, to offer what was without defect, and to give with care and intention. These offerings were acts of worship, not matters of convenience, and they were to reflect honor, sincerity, and devotion to God. This passage reminds us that what we bring before the Lord matters. God looks at the heart, the effort, and the faith behind what is offered. In Church life today, this truth calls us to approach God thoughtfully and with respect, remembering His faithfulness and responding with loyalty and gratitude, encouraging believers to honor God with intention and reverence. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Exodus 39:32, 43 (ESV) “Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished, and the people of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did.” “And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded; so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall points us to a clear picture of accountability in the work of God. After completing the tabernacle, the people did not resist inspection or take offense at review. Instead, they willingly brought their work to Moses and invited him to examine everything, confident they had followed the Lord's instructions. This passage shows that healthy leadership welcomes accountability and careful review. When work is done with integrity, inspection becomes a blessing, not a threat. In Bible and Church life today, this example teaches us that obedience, transparency, and a teachable spirit bring joy to leaders and blessing from God. This Daily Devotions message from Pastor Sumrall at Cathedral of Praise reminds us that accountability done God's way leads to affirmation and favor. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Mark 1:21–26 (ESV) “And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, ‘What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.' But Jesus rebuked him, saying, ‘Be silent, and come out of him!' And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows a moment in Capernaum where even a demon recognized who Jesus truly was. As Jesus taught with rightful authority, the powers of darkness were exposed and disrupted. The unclean spirit knew that Jesus interfered with its work, had authority over its future, and was the Holy One of God. This passage reminds us that whenever Jesus is proclaimed, darkness is never comfortable. Truth confronts deception, and authority confronts bondage. In life today, the same Jesus still brings freedom, still interrupts what holds people captive, and still stands as the Holy One whom all must answer to. This Daily Devotions shows us who Jesus is and why His presence always changes everything. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Sumrall on Daily Devotions. Is selfishness destroying your marriage? If you've ever thought "I'm looking out for myself," this Words From The Word devotion will show you God's warning—and His blueprint for oneness. Pastor Roderick Webster teaches from Ephesians 5:28-31 (KJV) and reveals the truth: when self is at the center of marriage, the relationship loses its purpose and heads for destruction.Scripture paints a different picture. Husbands are called to love their wives as their own bodies, just as Christ loves and nourishes the church. When Adam saw Eve, he said, "This is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh"—he understood they were one. God still expects this in marriage today. You might be asking:What does "one flesh" actually mean in daily life? How do I love my wife the way God commands? What does "leaving and cleaving" look like practically? How do I stop selfishness from ruining my marriage? In this devotion you'll learn:Why selfishness destroys what God designed for oneness (Ephesians 5)How Christ's love for the church is your marriage modelWhat Adam understood about marriage that we must understand todayThe biblical command to leave your parents and cleave to your wifeIf this devotion challenged you, like, subscribe, and share it with a married couple who needs to hear this truth today.#WordsFromTheWord #BiblicalMarriage #Ephesians5 #KJV #ChristianMarriage00:00 Introduction and Greetings00:03 The Importance of Devotions in Marriage01:02 Biblical Foundation of Marriage01:50 The Role of Love and Submission02:14 Unity in Marriage02:35 Adam and Eve: The First Marriage03:47 Selfishness in Marriage04:25 Christ's Love for the Church07:12 The Oneness of the Body of Christ09:03 Leaving and Cleaving in Marriage10:37 Conclusion and Final Blessings

Exodus 35:30–35 (ESV) “Then Moses said to the people of Israel, ‘See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches us a truth that is often overlooked in the book of Exodus. God not only filled Bezalel with wisdom, skill, and craftsmanship, but He also gave him the ability to teach others what God had placed in him. This passage shows that the work of the Spirit is not limited to talent alone. God gives ability, and He also gives responsibility. Those who are gifted are called to pass those gifts on, raising others to serve well and work with excellence. This Daily Devotions teaching from Pastor Sumrall speaks directly to Church life today. When God entrusts us with skill and understanding, He also calls us to invest in the next generation and teach others what He has taught us. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Exodus 34:1–3 (ESV) “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite that mountain.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on Exodus 33 and 34 and focuses on God's instruction to Moses to “present yourself to Me.” After failure, delay, and disappointment, the Lord did not reject Moses. Instead, He called him back into His presence with accountability and purpose. This passage shows us that leadership begins and is sustained in personal time before God. Moses was required to come alone, prepared, and ready to stand before the Lord. The same pattern is seen throughout Scripture, where leaders regularly return to God to give an account of what they have done and taught. This devotional from Daily Devotions at Cathedral of Praise encourages pastors, leaders, and servants in the church to regularly present themselves before God, not for performance, but for faithfulness. In Bible teaching and Church life, lasting leadership is shaped in moments of surrender and obedience before the Lord. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Exodus 32:1–2, 25 (ESV) “When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, ‘Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' … And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose, to the derision of their enemies)… In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches from Exodus 32 and highlights the difference between weak leadership and strong leadership. When Moses was delayed on the mountain, Aaron responded to pressure instead of holding to what God had said. By giving the people what they wanted, he allowed confusion and disorder to take over. The result was not only idolatry, but public shame as Israel became a source of ridicule to those watching from the outside. When Moses returned, strong leadership had to step in to restore order and deal with the consequences of compromise. This passage reminds us that leadership is not about pleasing people or avoiding conflict. Whether in the home, the church, or any place of responsibility, God calls leaders to follow Him and lead others toward what is right, even when it is difficult. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E.       Guest: Randell Holmes, Jr., college student/athlete at Texas A&M University, author of Daily Devotional for Teen Boys   Welcome back to our conversation with Randell Holmes. This week Randell starts off firing from both barrels as he challenges us to grasp the difference between what he calls “fruitfulness over faithfulness.” Many young men are more concerned with the “fruitfulness” of the things of this world - God is concerned with your faithfulness to produce SPIRITUAL fruit in your life and your community!   I mentioned the incredible book Thoughts for Young Men by J.C. Ryle and the question that Ryle asks, “Where are the godly older men?” Ryle thought there were so few godly older men because the enemy and worldly ambition bent them closer to the temporary things of this world and they never grew up tall and strong for the Lord's service. Randell reminds us that a lot of young men don't believe that following God is “truly worth it.” Scripture reminds us in Psalm 84:10 that it is better to be “one day” in the presence of God than a thousand elsewhere! You might ask, “Is following God truly worth it?”  Randell's challenge to you is that you'll never know unless you truly try it. That reminds me of an incredible statement from the British author G.K. Chesterton who said, “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult and left untried.”   Our next topic of conversation brings up the idea of Christian hedonism put forth by John Piper in Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist. Piper says that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him. Check out this article from Desiring God's website for further explanation. Randell reminds us that Romans 8:5-6 addresses this same concept - that when our minds are set on what the flesh desires, that “mind governed by the flesh is death.” But those who set their minds on “things above” or the “Spirit” have “life and peace.”   Randell's recommendations for this year: Recognize that you cannot manage sin. Sin will take you farther than you wanted to go, keep you longer than you wanted to stay, and cost you more than you wanted to pay. “Be killing sin or sin will be killing you,” John Owen. Make a priority to open up God's Word. The same breath that God breathed into Adam is breathed into us through His Word. Find a mentor who will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.   Final word from Randell - if you're not a believer/follower of Jesus Christ - you're missing out on God's purpose for you! Find a good church, open the Word of God, ask some questions and get some answers about the true meaning of life!   Randell's book is part of a 3-part series that covers young men from youth through college: Devotions for Preteen Boys by Randell Holmes, Jr. and Chandler Fletcher Daily Devotionals for Teen Boys (ages 14-16) by Randell Holmes, Jr. Daily Devotionals for College Men by Brett Trefren T4M guys - just a reminder that Training4Manhood is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) ministry and you can make donations either via Zelle (info@training4manhood.com) or by visiting the Training4Manhood website.

We have been given authority to overcome the serpent. Our response is clear and powerful: submit to God, resist the enemy, and draw near to Him. In this episode, I'm joined by Lucy Caldwell, ahead of the publication of her new short story collection Devotions, due out in April 2026. We may be early to the party, but this conversation offers a rich introduction to a book that explores love, loss, longing, and the everyday objects and rituals we turn into acts of devotion. From a Belfast theatre troupe taking an experimental Hamlet to New York, to stories that edge into the metafictional and the uncanny, Devotions is a collection of intimate, luminous portraits of desire and regret. Our conversation unfolds as something of a masterclass in writing. Lucy reflects on her life and work, from growing up in Belfast during the Troubles in an ecumenical family, to building an acclaimed literary career marked by depth, empathy, and formal curiosity. We talk about how and why she writes, her path to international recognition, and the four books that shaped her literary imagination. Thoughtful, generous, and quietly inspiring, this is an episode especially rich for readers and writers alike.Lit with Charles loves reviews. Many Catholics feel spiritually dry or burned out, even while praying often, attending Mass, and practicing multiple devotions. In this episode of St. Anthony's Tongue, we explore what I call spiritual gluttony. This is the subtle habit of consuming prayers, devotions, and spiritual practices in a way that exhausts us instead of transforming us.This is not a rejection of Catholic devotion. It is an invitation to stop performing and start receiving. We talk about why so many Catholics feel they need to earn the love of God, how prayer can quietly become transactional, and why silence and stillness are essential to the Christian life. We also reflect on the difference between spiritual dryness and spiritual exhaustion, and why many people are not distant from God but simply tired. This episode gently introduces the movement of prayer from vocal prayer to meditation and contemplation, and why devotion is meant to lead to union with God rather than accumulation. You are not broken. You may simply be exhausted. And God is not disappointed in you.Peace be with you.

To be honest, what changed was Randell himself. God truly got a hold of Randell's heart, his life, his passion and his trajectory in life changed forever! Randell went from a “football player” to a young man passionately pursuing a relationship with the Lord.   Great reminder from Randell that walking with Jesus is a relationship…and for a relationship to grow and mature, it takes intentionality - time, energy, focus. If you want to get closer to God, get in the Word, spend time in prayer, and find an older, more mature Christian man to disciple you. Some guys don't want to “get closer” to God - they are fine with “distance” because then they control the relationship - but that's like having a Ferrari and driving it in first gear - it's time to shift and accelerate that relationship!   What's next for Randell - well, he's off to an incredible place called Campus by the Sea, a Christian camp on Catalina Island in sunny California! Join me in praying for Randell and this incredible opportunity to impact the lives of others! And don't forget to come back next week for the incredible continuation of our conversation with Randell.

Thought to share? Send me a text...We trace Nehemiah's careful plan to rebuild Jerusalem's walls and draw out a simple pattern for change: pray, prepare, expect pushback, and keep moving. From quiet night inspections to bold public resolve, we map how faith and strategy work together to rebuild from the inside out.• planning before action as wisdom for big goals• royal support and the political stakes around Jerusalem• why opposition rises when good work begins• the night inspection as model for honest assessment• rallying people with clarity and conviction• confronting ridicule without losing focus• practical cues for daily prayer and Bible reading• rebuilding habits as a long game with small stepsThanks for spending these few moments with me in God's Word. And as you go into this week, may God continue the work He has begun in you, rebuilding from the inside out. You are loved. You can do this, and the God of heaven walks with you.
