1 Corinthians 1:10 (NLT) – “I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church; rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the biblical command for local churches to function as a unified family. He discusses how the concept of the local church is sometimes undermined by "patronage systems" where people follow specific personalities rather than Christ. True spiritual enrichment happens when a church chooses to set aside quarrels and focus on shared goals.   Pastor Sumrall explains that being "of one mind" is not about following a single human leader, but about being united in God-given thought and purpose. He reminds us that the tithes and offerings are intended to care for the household of God and provide for the spiritual needs of the community. By living in harmony and avoiding the trap of personalities, we ensure that the church remains a healthy place for all of God's family.   ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

"Devotions upon Emergent Occasions" is a profound prose work by John Donne, composed during his recovery from a serious illness in 1624. This collection of reflections, structured into twenty-three parts, captures the stages of his sickness through meditations, expostulations, and prayers. Among these, the seventeenth meditation stands out with its famous assertion that "no man is an island," highlighting the interconnectedness of humanity and the shared experience of suffering and mortality. Donne's exploration of faith, community, and the human condition resonates deeply today, reminding us of our collective responsibility and the enduring truth that every loss impacts us all.

Romans 16:17 (NLT) – “And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall addresses the difficult but vital topic of handling divisive people within the church. He warns that the most dangerous dividers are not harsh or mean, but are "smiling snakes" who use "smooth and glowing words" to deceive innocent people and upset their faith. These individuals often prioritize their own personal interests and agendas over the health of the Body of Christ.   Pastor Sumrall explains that while some cultures often emphasizes the control of old friendships, believers must be willing to put right and wrong above those connections. He highlights Paul's clear instruction: when you encounter people who teach things contrary to the truth and cause trouble, you must "watch out and stay away". Protecting your faith requires distancing yourself from those who stir up emotions to manipulate others. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Romans 15:18–19 (NLT) – “...They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the good news of Christ...”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches why the Gospel was so effective in the early church, highlighting the four essential components of a "full presentation" of the good news. He explains that it requires not just a correct message, but a messenger whose life is marked by hard work and holiness, accompanied by miraculous signs and the power of the Holy Spirit.   Pastor Sumrall explains that modern "talking heads" who rely solely on persuasive words or celebrity status will not see the same results as those who live a disciplined, holy life. He warns that the messenger's lifestyle is an integral part of the message itself; therefore, we cannot expect the Gospel to have full power if the one preaching it does not live the life. True power comes from the synergy of truth, character, and divine demonstration.   ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 6:16–17 (NLT) – “There are six things the Lord hates—no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue...”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall discusses a specific list of behaviors that the Bible explicitly states God detests, including haughty attitudes, lying, and the sowing of discord. He emphasizes that these "seven things" provide a clear standard for believers who desire to live a life that is pleasing to God rather than one that invites His opposition.   Pastor Sumrall explains the specific danger of a "lying tongue," noting that lies are like broken feather pillows—once the words are out, they can never be fully gathered back up. He particularly highlights God's hatred for those who sow discord within families or use false witness to destroy others. By focusing on these warnings, we are encouraged to steer our lives toward integrity and peace. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 6:12 (NLT) – “What are worthless and wicked people like? They are constant liars, signaling their deceit with a wink of an eye, a nudge of a foot, or a wiggle of a finger.”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares unpleasant but necessary wisdom regarding how to identify and evaluate the character of wicked and worthless people. Drawing from Proverbs 6, he outlines the traits of those who are constant liars, practice deceit through "code words" or secret signals, and possess perverted hearts that constantly stir up trouble and division.   Pastor Sumrall explains that while these individuals may seem powerful or strong for a season, the Bible warns they will be destroyed suddenly and beyond hope of healing. He advises believers that when they encounter such people, the best response is not to go to war, but to simply "back up" and distance themselves. Learning to recognize these characteristics protects you from getting caught in a mess that leads to the same destructive end. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Todd walks through the arc of his book — from the general (where did the Bible come from?) to the specific (how do we read it well?) — and makes a case that's easy to miss: we're doing kids a disservice by feeding them only a verse a day. Scripture is meant to be read in bigger chunks, the way chapters flow into each other, the way John 9's blind man cast out of the synagogue sets up John 10's Good Shepherd who welcomes him in. He also has an encouraging word for the adult who hasn't opened their Bible in years and doesn't know where to start: God's word is living and always fresh, so just start today, maybe skim a little, and let it become infectious. Families are using the book around the kitchen table; Sunday school classes are making it a curriculum; book clubs are forming around it. "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?" -Jeremiah 32:27   Welcome to The Adoption & Foster Care Journey—a podcast to encourage, educate and equip you as you care for children in crisis through adoption, foster care and kinship care.   In this episode host Sandra Flach sits down with Dr. Mark Andrews, adoptive father and founder of Adoptive Family Resources, to talk about his family's adoption journey and how it shaped his life's work of supporting foster and adoptive families.   Mark shares how learning about trauma, attachment, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) transformed both his parenting and his professional ministry. Together, they discuss the importance of understanding the brain behind the behavior, finding the right support, and remembering that we don't have to walk this journey alone.   If you're raising children impacted by trauma or prenatal substance exposure—or you simply need a reminder that God sees your family and is with you every step of the way—this conversation will encourage and equip you.   As Mark reminds us, "The Lord loves your child even more than you do."   Listen wherever you get your podcasts!   Please be sure to subscribe to the podcast, leave a review, and share it on your social media.   Links mentioned in this episode: Adoptive Family Resources See Available Trainings The Adoption & Foster Care Journey AFCJ on YouTube justicefororphansny.org justicefororphansny.org/hope-community     Email:  sandraflach@justicefororphansny.org sandraflach.com Soul Care Saturday—52 Devotions for Foster and Adoptive Moms Orphans No More—A Journey Back to the Father book on Amazon

hi GGB:) Today's episode is all about what happens when your heart is divided between what God is asking of you and what your flesh still wants to hold onto. This conversation is a reminder that peace often comes when we stop trying to live in two directions at once. God is not asking for a perfect heart, but He is asking for a surrendered one. We love you so much. Jesus loves you more. ORDER OUR BOOK!
