This week Jon talks about a fun little narrative in John 6 where the disciples forgot to wait for Jesus and then got stuck in a storm.  While there fear and discouragement seems to have been the choice of the disciples, we find Jesus pursuing them and meeting their needs in the midst of the storm. As always, if you wish to discuss this further, feel free to shoot Jon an email at jon@christianoutdoors.org.

In this episode of Fatima Today, hosts Barb Ernster and Katie Moran explore the rich Marian devotions of the Eastern Church. They discuss the Akathist Hymn to the Theotokos and the deep veneration of the Mother of God under the title of “Protection.” The conversation highlights the miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Mariapovch, which began shedding tears in 1670 and now resides in the Cathedral of St. Stephen in Vienna, with copies in Hungary and at a shrine in Cleveland, Ohio. Katie also shares the story of the apparitions of Our Lady of Hrushiv in Ukraine on May 12, 1914, where the Blessed Mother warned of Russia becoming godless and pleaded for the rosary—drawing a powerful connection to the message of Fatima. The episode concludes with a reflection on four beloved icons traditionally attributed to St. Luke: Our Lady of Vladimir in Russia, Our Lady of Czestochowa in Poland, Salus Populi Romani in Rome's Basilica of St. Mary Major, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the Church of St. Alphonsus Liguori. These sacred images testify to the enduring love and protection of the Blessed Mother across East and West.

Thought to share? Send me a text...The pivotal moment in Gethsemane reveals the stunning contrast between Jesus' unwavering resolve and Peter's crumbling courage.Peter's journey from bold declarations to devastating denial unfolds in the shadows. When surrounded by his community, Peter draws his sword with reckless bravery. Yet when separated and alone in the courtyard, simple questions from servants—not even authorities—cause him to deny his Lord three times. That haunting rooster crow marks both the fulfillment of Jesus' prediction and the beginning of Peter's redemption story. This passage raises profound questions about our own faith journeys. How often do we minimize our relationship with Christ when it might cost us socially? When asked about our work, do we vaguely mention "working with people" rather than acknowledging our ministry? These small hesitations reveal bigger truths about where our security truly lies. The most powerful insight may be how community shapes our courage. Peter embodied boldness when standing with fellow disciples but faltered in isolation. This pattern repeats in our lives today—we're stronger together, more vulnerable alone. The spiritual application is clear: surrounding ourselves with faithful companions isn't optional but essential for developing resilience in a world that often challenges our faith. To read my blog, find out more about me, or to book a speaking engagement, head to https://betsymarvin.com/For access to past podcasts and transcripts, head tohttps://betsymarvin.com/podcasts/You can follow me on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/betsyjmarvin/and Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/betsy.marvin.98

We are told throughout Scripture the importance of prayer. We taught how to pray and how not to pray. But, the question I want to pose to you today is: Do you expect anything out of prayer. In Acts 12, we read about Peter being thrown in prison, and the church praying consistently for him. When Peter shows up at the door, the people praying for him first don't believe it's actually him, then are astonished at the sight. Listen to this episode, and take time to look at your prayer life and prayer habits, and start praying the way Jesus would want us to pray-expectantly.

Christian counselor, speaker, and author, Michelle Nietert, coauthor with Lynn Cowell of Strong and Secure: 100 Devotions for Young Women says, “We believe that God desires a deep and intimate relationship with each of us”. Leaving what is familiar to step into the unknown can be exciting and scary at the same time. In order to fully swing into the new, we need to let go of what was. As we do we can fix our eyes and God trusting that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. They read, "None saith, Restore." Isaiah 42:22.For days afterwards those words were constantly in my mind. After those few days while in prayer, those words stood before me and I knew why. God wanted me to pray for Him to restore. I searched my heart and knew right away what to begin with. There was one thing most precious to me I desperately wanted Him to restore that seemed irrevocably lost. So I asked Him....Lord, Restore! After three months, God wonderfully restored that relationship in a surprising and wonderful way, and I am full of rejoicing. During those months I began adding a thing, a person, a circumstance, and I began to see God restore those things and people too. All of which was done because it first started with His love. None can restore like Jesus Christ. But we should remember that we must also be restorers and nourishers to others, Christ working His love through us. Also, never regret loving those who will not love you in return. Though an icey hand be returned for your warm hand of fellowship, never stop loving. It is a very spiritually noble and kingly act. We can never love too much."You will never regret your choice. It is wonderful to be free to pour out all, every drop of one's life; and that is what you have done and are doing. No, you will never regret it, never." - Amy Carmichael

Thought to share? Send me a text...Have you ever wondered what Jesus prayed about in his final hours? Most of us are familiar with the "Lord's Prayer" from Matthew 6—the model prayer Jesus taught his disciples. But John 17 reveals something far more intimate: Jesus' own heartfelt prayer before his arrest and crucifixion. This episode delves into this remarkable chapter, examining how Jesus first prays for himself, then for his disciples, and finally—most astonishingly—for you and me. "I'm praying not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me because of them and their witness about me." With these words, Jesus looked across time and held future believers in his heart during his darkest hour. The central theme of Jesus' prayer is unity—that all his followers would experience the same profound oneness that exists between him and the Father. He prays that we would be "one heart and mind" with God, so mature in this unity that our very lives would become evidence of God's love to a skeptical world. When we personalize these ancient words, inserting our own names into Jesus' prayer, we discover something profoundly moving: we were known, loved, and specifically prayed for by Christ himself two thousand years ago.Whether you're a lifelong believer or simply curious about what made Jesus' relationship with God so special, this exploration of what could truly be called "The Lord's Prayer" offers fresh perspective on Christ's desires for his followers. Listen and ponder what it means that you were on Jesus' mind and heart as he prepared to face the cross. This week Jon asks a simple question; what do you need to say yes too?   Saying yes can be terifying especially when we feel unqualified.  The Scriptures are littered with men and women who were not qualified but still were called into the service of our Savior.  How can this be possible?  The simple answer is this: our Savior is qualified! This week devotion shares the following Scriptures: Exodus 3.11; 3.13; 4.1; 4.10; 4.13 Isaiah 56.8-9 Ephesians 3.20   If you wish to discuss this topic in further detail, feel free to reach out to Jon directly at jon@christianoutdoors.org.   Are you looking for a speaker for your next event?  Pete and Jon would love to fill your need!  Let us know how we can serve you!

People's hearts are so darkened. If we are going to make an impact on people with the gospel, we need God working with us and in us. Let's start praying for that more—we're working for Him, and now we can depend on Him to work for us.
