There are some that are harder than others but the Lord brings us out of them time and again. They are all part of our preparation for things future because we were being taught how to trust and lean upon the Lord. In older age we are experiencing harder things that are unavoidable but our "strength is firm," because we have been fighting our way to heaven by faith in God. The outcome is always sure and our hopes are never disappointed. Jon and I are facing a new time in our lives after his recent heart attack. We know the Lord is with us and our future is in His hands. I love these words by Amy Carmichael that have become very dear to me in old age. They are inscribed in my Bible and referenced often:"We stand, when we are young, on the sunny slope among the pines, and look across an unknown country to the mountains. There are clouds, but they are edged with light. We do not fear as we dip into the valley; we do not fear the clouds. Thank God for the splendid fearlessness of youth. And as for older travelers whom the Lord has led over the hill and the dale, they have not been given the spirit of fear. They think of the way they have come since they stood on that bright hillside, and their word is always this: There are reasons and reasons for hope and for happiness, and never one for fear." - Amy Carmichael "We were cast down but not destroyed." - 2 Cor.4:9

From the crowd shouting “Crucify Him!” in Mark 15, to Joshua's bold call, “Choose this day whom you will serve,” to King Agrippa's near-conversion in Acts 26—Scripture reminds us that every heart stands at a crossroads. In this episode, we reflect on the urgency of choosing Jesus—not someday, but today. Indecision is still a decision. Delayed obedience is still disobedience. The question isn't just historical—it's personal: Will you follow Him, or walk away? Don't wait. The choice is yours… and it matters for eternity.

What are the characteristics of effective prayers and praying? Well, one of them is praying biblically in accordance with the will of God from Scripture. Few were equal or better than this than the Puritans. One of the greatest devotionals I've ever read and meditated upon is titled, "The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions," edited by Arthur Bennett. It is an inspirational collection of prayers/devotionals that will certainly engage the reader's heart and mind to learn prayer and follow Christ more closely. This prayer on this episode of 2Days Denarius is titled, "Morning Dedication." The author of the prayer is not given, as none are in the book. But prayers from names such as, Richard Baxter, David Brainerd, Thomas Watson, Isaac Watts, Charles Spurgeon, among others are the ones who are the contributors to this collection. It's encouraged to those who listen to acquire a copy of "Valley of Vision" and discover the devotional value of this book!"Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions," Arthur Benntt, ed. From the foundational law in Exodus 20:11 and Deuteronomy 5:16, to the solemn warning in Deuteronomy 27:16, and the New Testament reinforcement in Ephesians 6:1-3, we uncover the spiritual weight and blessing attached to honoring our father and mother. We'll also reflect on Jesus' personal example in John 19:26-27 and His broader teaching in Matthew 12:48, where we learn how honor and obedience transcend bloodlines to reflect God's heart. I know things will be okay and God is in this completely. We are not out of the woods yet, but God is in the woods with us. I just wanted to ask for your most valuable prayers and let you know I will be away for a little while, but not too long. Perhaps a couple of weeks or less depending on how things turn out. Thank you so much for your love and prayers. I expect to see you soon with good news that I am sure will be ours to proclaim. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28.I have lived a long life now and can attest to the solid truth of His promises. He has been the best Friend I have ever had."But God is the God of the waves and the billows, and they are still His when they come over us; and again and again we have proved that the overwhelming thing does not overwhelm. Once more, by His interposition, deliverance came. We were cast down, but not destroyed." - Amy Carmichael

We live in a world full of distractions. Technology is always with us, pulling our focus away from the present with notifications that ping at all hours of the day and night. On top of that, many of us deal with internal distractions like insecurity, the desire for perfection, or the stress of trying to do it all. These distractions can often crowd out the still, small voice of God—if we let them. My friend, Peg Arnold, understands the struggle of grappling with distractions well. She is an author, speaker, and teacher whose passion is to encourage women to understand their true value and purpose so they can utilize their gifts in everyday life. One of Peg's recent books, Devotions for the Distracted Heart, helps those of us who tend to be distracted find focus on God and His Word so that we can stand strong in the winds of life. Peg also helps us understand that delays and detours are not always a bad thing—in fact, they can sometimes be blessings. In this episode, you'll hear:Practical tips for dealing with distractionsThe power of reframing our schedulesHow God might use detours to strengthen our faithAnd more! This conversation was a delight—it's full of helpful tips we can use to shift our perspective. Psalm 127:4 says that children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior. As parents, we shape our arrows and send them into the future. We decide where to aim. For Christians, the goal is to launch Christ followers, children who know their purpose and will impact the future for Him. We can't control, predict, or fix every challenge our children face, but we can pray to One who loves them more than we do and never leaves them. We can let God use our toughest seasons as parents to grow our faith and turn us into prayer warriors. Join us as we share 5 prayers to pray over this new school year.Ep. 96  Show Notes:o  Pre-order Kari's New Book Is Your Daughter Ready?, Coming Sept. 16, and get amazing pre-order bonuses HEREo Find Mary Lauren on Instagram and at Community Ministry for Girlso  Join Kari on Substack, Instagram, or Facebook; Sign Up for Kari's email listo  Bible Verses for Teenagerso  Kari's New Devo for Teen & College Girls: Yours, Not Hers: 40 Devotions to Stop Comparisons and Love Your Lifeo  Kari's Books: Love Her Well, More Than a Mom, 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know and Liked: Whose Approval Are You Living For?

Hiiii GGB! Today we talk about idolatry in relationships. —Idolatry is the act of giving your heart, worship, dependence, or devotion to anything or anyone other than God. —It's not just about golden statues — it's about what rules your heart, occupies your mind, and shapes your identity. —Every idol must be dethroned — not always by removal, but by reordering your love. When God is first, everything else can be healthy and whole. You're not going to want to miss this one. Idolatry of any kind is destructive and breaks God's heart— and idolatry in your relationships causes major chaos and misalignment. we love you so much. Jesus loves you more. -Ang & Ari ORDER OUR NEW BOOK!
