“There are no quick wins in business or life – it takes years to become an overnight success." This quote from entrepreneur Richard Branson is a great reminder of the value of hard work and the importance of not comparing ourselves to others’ supposed “overnight” success. Today’s guest’s story reiterates this truth. Jake McEntire dedicated 14 years to writing his script for Run the Race. He finally saw it become a feature film produced by Tim Tebow earlier this year. Today, Jake joins us to shine a light on how to uncover what we are called to do in life and how to steadfastly pursuit it. SHOW NOTES: As a child, Jake fell in love with the art of storytelling, inspiring him to move hearts as movies did for his family. All for one, one for all: Jake's father encouraged a close bond between Jake and his five siblings. Growing up in a small, north Texas town allowed Jake to experience a variety of clubs + sports, including football and acting. After tearing his ACL, Jake played Randle in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, inspiring him to focus on acting. Jake taught himself screenwriting, using the scripts from Shawshank Redemption and Sling Blade as guides. Run after God. As long as you have him, you have everything you need not matter what happens to you.   Professional sports star Tim Tebow and his brother Robby Tebow became Executive Producers of Run the Race after reading the script. Run the Race is available on DVD and digital download. Get it here. If you enjoyed today's episode, you'll love hearing my conversation with John Smith. John shares his miraculous story of fall into an icy lake. If you’re struggling to make sense of your suffering, have lost your personal faith or have stopped believing in miracles, this episode is for you. Listen to John on Live Inspired ep. 168 here. JAKE MCENTIRE'S LIVE INSPIRED 7 1. What is the best book you’ve ever read? The Bible and The Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon. 2. What is a characteristic or trait that you possessed as a child that you wish you still exhibited today? Being overly optimistic, enthusiastic and zealous. 3. Your house is on fire, all living things and people are out. You have the opportunity to run in and grab one item. What would it be? Old computer that has pictures that aren't backed up yet. 4. You are sitting on a bench overlooking a gorgeous beach. You have the opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone living or dead. Who would it be? Billy Graham and the first question would be, “did you ever dream your life would turn out the way it did? Tell me how it happened, why God did it and what is your secret to being obedient.” 5. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? You can’t make deals with God. Put everything at the foot of the cross, even the simple stuff. 6. What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? Just relax. Enjoy the day that God has made. 7. It’s been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read?  This guy ran after God + his dreams as hard as he could, and encourage everyone to do the same.  *** Did you enjoy today's episode? Have you seen the film Run The Race (executive producers Tim Tebow and his brother Robby, now available Blu Ray, DVD, Digital)? Great sports action and soundtrack in addition to really solid acting and of course the story and screenplay itself which brings us to our guest, screenwriter Jake McEntire. The title Run The Race is spot on for the film itself but doubles for the story of the film getting made. Hear Jake’s story and you’ll see the movie was definitely a marathon and not a sprint. You'll be encouraged for the race you are running right now.

Executive producer for Run the Race The second half hour Jake McEntire, writer for Run the Race returns to discuss the movie Run the Race website Run the Race trailer ------------------ Matthew 22:23-46 Jesus Answers the Sadducees 23 On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him, 24 asking, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother; 26 so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh. 27 Last of all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her.” 29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. 34 But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. 35 One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” 41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question: 42 “What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?” They *said to Him, “The son of David.” 43 He *said to them, “Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,   44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet”’? 45 If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?” 46 No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question. ------------------ https://swatradio.com/ SWAT - Spiritual Warriors Advancing Truth Call us Toll-Free at: +1-844-777-7928 Email Us a Question: ask@swatradio.com FIND A SWAT MEETING Woody’s Bar-B-Que 226 Solano Rd Ponte Vedra, FL 10611 Wed. 6:30-7:30 am Eastside Community Church 13301 Beach Blvd Jacksonville, FL Wed. Parable of Two Sons 28 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They *said, “The first.” Jesus *said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him. ------------------ https://swatradio.com/ SWAT - Spiritual Warriors Advancing Truth Call us Toll-Free at: +1-844-777-7928 Email Us a Question: ask@swatradio.com FIND A SWAT MEETING Woody’s Bar-B-Que 226 Solano Rd Ponte Vedra, FL 10611 Wed. 6:30-7:30 am Eastside Community Church 13301 Beach Blvd Jacksonville, FL Wed. We think you're going to LOVE this chat! ... and the movie that comes out this weekend! So worth seeing. Jake McEntire (screenwriter/producer) and Tanner Stine (lead actor) have joined Executive Producers Tim & Robby Tebow to create the exciting and inspirational new film Run the Race. It’s a story about two brothers with an unbreakable bond facing unbelievable odds. Jake & Tanner join our carpool to chat about all that lead up to their 23-day filming - including a 14 year on-ramp, incredible provision, countless lessons on faith, friendship, hope, dreams and so much more. This chat not only offers personal inspiration but deep truth that informs all our lives. We hope that you will be encouraged, prompted to share with friends and - for goodness sake - that you will go see the movie with your family and friends. It's terrific! Video Link: https://youtu.be/c1Z3UVu0usY Jake McEntire was a movie-minded student at Dallas Baptist University in 2004 when he felt God leading him to write a film script. Thanks to prodding from a few friends — and lots of prayer — McEntire finally did so. McEntire’s 14-year-old screenplay becomes reality Feb. 22 when “Run the Race” is released in theaters. Former NFL and college football player Tim Tebow and his brother Robby served as executive producers, while Chris Dowling (Where Hope Grows) directed it. The WTA Group, a company that helped make “I Can Only Imagine,” and Roadside also was involved. Tanner Stine is an American actor from West Des Moines, Iowa living in Los Angeles, CA. He is known for his role as the young Tony DiNozzo on the CBS hit series "NCIS" as well as for his recurring role on Nickelodeon's "The Thundermans". His recent projects include feature films "Run", "Get Big" and "Indivisible". Tanner can also be seen in the upcoming YouTube Red series "Impulse", directed by Doug Liman and the new HBO show "Here and Now", written and directed by Alan Ball.
