This week's episode is one that's incredibly personal to me. I'm recording it just hours after our very first "Iron Sharpens Iron" gathering at IMPACT-X Performance (San Diego), and I wanted to capture the emotion while it was still fresh. My voice may be a little hoarse, but my heart has never been more full. For years, I've felt God calling me to create something that goes beyond workouts, beyond business, and even beyond Sunday mornings. I believe people are starving for deeper faith, stronger relationships, greater purpose, and a place where they can grow together without pretending to have it all figured out. In this episode, I share why I started Iron Sharpens Iron, the powerful breakthroughs that happened during our very first gathering, and the vision I believe God has placed on my heart for where this movement is headed. My prayer is that this conversation encourages you to become stronger physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally—and ultimately inspires you to become the person God created you to be. In This Episode, You'll Learn: The five reasons I felt called to launch the Iron Sharpens Iron movement. Why authentic community is one of the greatest needs facing men today. How your faith and your fitness work together to build true strength from the inside out. Why leadership always begins with character, conviction, and a relationship with God. The biggest takeaways from our very first Iron Sharpens Iron gathering and why it impacted me so deeply. Why vulnerability isn't weakness—it's often where healing begins. How surrounding yourself with the right people can completely change the direction of your life. The vision I have for taking Iron Sharpens Iron beyond San Diego and building a movement that impacts families, communities, and generations. The 3 questions I believe every one of us needs to answer: 1. Who are you sharpening? 2. Who should you be sharpening? 3. Who is sharpening you? I truly believe this episode is about much more than launching a new program. It's about answering a call. Now more than ever, we need stronger leaders, stronger families, stronger communities, and stronger faith. We need men who are willing to step up, encourage one another, hold each other accountable, and pursue becoming the very best version of themselves—not for their own glory, but for God's. I've said it before and I'll say it again: fitness can change your body and mind, but faith can change your life. When you bring faith & fitness together, lives change. Families change. Communities change. Generations change. If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to share it with another man who needs to hear this message. Your workout partner, your son, your dad, your brother, your coach, or a friend who could use a little hope and encouragement right now. And if you're ready to be part of the Iron Sharpens Iron movement, I'd love to have you join us. P.S #1 If you're interested in joining the upcoming Iron Sharpens Iron six-week experience, text "Iron Sharpens Iron" 619.304.2216, and I'll make sure you receive all the details as we launch this movement. P.S #2. Be sure to subscribe to The IMPACT SHOW, leave a review if today's episode encouraged you, and share it with someone who needs a little more faith, purpose, and impact in their life.

Fatherhood has been one of the greatest gifts and blessings of my life. As I prepare to celebrate Father's Day this weekend and soon enter a brand-new season as an empty nester, I've been reflecting on the journey of raising three incredible kids over the last 23 years. The truth is, there's no playbook for being a parent. No manual. No perfect formula. You learn by diving in, showing up, making mistakes, and loving with your whole heart. In this heartfelt episode, I share the lessons, memories, and wisdom that have shaped me as a father—from those 4 a.m. newborn moments with Luke sleeping on my chest, to coaching my kids on the field, to preparing to watch all three of them spread their wings and chase their dreams. Whether you're a dad, mom, grandparent, coach, mentor, or simply someone who values family, this episode is a powerful reminder that the greatest impact we make often happens at home. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why every season of parenting deserves to be appreciated and embraced. How becoming a parent deepens your purpose and changes your perspective forever. The power of creating meaningful experiences and memories with your family. Why the daily routines, values, and habits you instill matter more than any vacation or milestone. The bedtime affirmation that shaped the Durkin family culture for nearly two decades. How coaching your kids can strengthen your relationships and create unforgettable moments. Why volunteering, mentoring, and being involved in your children's activities matters so much. The life-changing lesson Todd learned from his father about the value of time. How "special time" with your kids can leave an imprint that lasts a lifetime. Why fathers and mothers play an irreplaceable role in shaping future generations. The emotions, excitement, and gratitude that come with entering the empty-nester chapter of life. A powerful reminder that time is our most precious commodity—and we can't afford to waste it. Fatherhood or parenting isn't about being perfect. It's about being present. It's about showing up day after day, creating experiences, building character, teaching values, and loving your kids through every season of life. As I look back on 23 years of being a Dad, what stands out most isn't the accomplishments, the awards, or the milestones—it's the moments. The conversations. The trips. The routines. The laughter. The lessons. The time. And as I prepare for this next chapter with all three of my children now pursuing their own dreams, I'm reminded that our role as parents isn't to keep our kids close forever—it's to help them grow wings and fly. Friendship is more than proximity—it's purpose. In this episode, we explore what real, biblical friendship looks like. From the friends who carried a paralyzed man to Jesus, to the sharpening power of godly relationships, Scripture shows us that the right people in your life can help carry you closer to Christ—or pull you away from Him. We'll unpack what it means to be a friend who shows up, stands strong, and points others toward Jesus, while also examining the warning against friendships rooted in the world. Because not all friendships are equal—and not all are worth keeping.

Most Christian men don't mean to drift… but many end up outsourcing discipleship to the church. If you've ever felt like you're not “qualified” to lead spiritually at home, this conversation will challenge you—in the best way. In this episode, Brian from Iron Sharpens Iron breaks down why so many men feel disengaged, why churches often (accidentally) create a codependency that weakens fathers, and what God's design for biblical manhood and discipleship really looks like. You'll hear why the church can't replace what God intended a man to do, how spiritual leadership in the home shapes everything else (including your witness in the marketplace), and why real growth happens through brotherhood, not isolation. If you want stronger faith, a deeper walk with Christ, and a practical path to leading your marriage and children with confidence—this is for you. No hype. No guilt. Just a clear call to become the kind of man who goes deep with Godand brings that strength home. Why many churches train kids well but unintentionally remove the pressure God designed fathers to carry, and how that leads to spiritual disengagement at home. The “general contractor” problem—how men subcontract faith to professionals—and the hidden cost it creates in marriage, parenting, and personal growth. A simple discipleship blueprint for men: the Paul, Barnabas, Timothy model and why every man needs mentoring, brotherhood, and someone to invest in. Send us a text This chapter gives us counsel in how to have humility, good relationships, and self-awareness. It warns us against boasting about the future, praising ourselves, and it describes how wrath can be our downfall. We also learn that friends are to sharpen us just as iron sharpens iron. Solomon reminds us that we need to be faithful in our friendships, diligent in our stewardship, and recognize where true wealth and honor comes from. We invite you to come study God's Word with us today!
Send us a textI always thank my God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:4 As we close out the first month of 2026, one goal we must have for this year is to find community. The church is a great place to start and we should be plugged into the local church. But even further, who are the people who help guide and encourage you and to whom you guide and encourage also? This episode focuses on how God helps us in "finding our tribe," how we must also limit access with certain people, and that we must look for opportunities to pour into the generations that follow us. As we find our tribe, we find those who God will use to continue to shape and mold us. It's an essential part of our walk in the Lord, as there are no "Lone Ranger Christians."
Pastor Sam Fleurry teaches “1 Is the Loneliest Number” as part of the Rhythms series, calling the church back to the spiritual rhythm of community. From Mark 2:1–12, he shows how godly community carries us to Jesus, covers our needs, cultivates our faith, and celebrates God's healing work. This message challenges isolation and individualism, emphasizing that accountability and connection are essential for spiritual growth and lasting transformation.Click here to view the episode transcript.
