When life feels like a cliffside road, this episode walks you into a living room of voices—mentors, friends, and the church—who refused to let a young believer travel alone. Through honest stories and a fresh look at Proverbs 11:14, you'll hear how timely advice changed one life, prevented costly mistakes, and became the guardrails that kept him moving forward. Listen as we trace the arc from pride and isolation to humility and community, discovering how wisdom is born from knowledge, understanding, and the courage to ask for help. This is a short, powerful invitation to surround yourself with godly counselors who will speak truth—even when it's hard—and keep you safe on the journey.
What if the biggest breakthrough of your life isn't waiting in another book, social media post, or YouTube video... but in a room full of people who challenge you to think bigger, dream again, and become the person you're called to be? This week, I'm coming to you "LIVE" from the Perform Better Summit in Long Beach, CA, after an unforgettable day of coaching, teaching, sweating, connecting, and pouring into hundreds of coaches, trainers, and business owners. My voice may be a little rough from coaching all day, but my heart is completely full. Here's what I know: information can be downloaded, but transformation happens in the room. When you surround yourself with the right people, have the right conversations, listen to the right messaging, and feel the vibration IN the room, your energy changes. Your perspective expands. Your vision gets bigger. One conversation can spark an idea. One connection can change your entire career, literally. One decision to invest in yourself can completely alter the trajectory of your life. If you've been feeling stuck, uninspired, or simply know there's anotherlevel inside of you waiting to be unlocked, this episode is your reminder that your next breakthrough may be one room away. In this episode, you'll learn: Why information is everywhere—but true transformation only happens through real connection. How energy becomes contagious and why the people around you elevate (or drain) your performance. Why proximity changes possibility and how getting around high-level people raises your own standards. How one conversation can create opportunities that impact your business, career, relationships, and life. Why disrupting your routine is one of the fastest ways to create new growth and fresh perspective. The importance of investing in yourself—even when it feels uncomfortable. Why accountability hits differently when you're physically present and fully engaged. How experiences create lasting memories that lead to meaningful action. Why the best live events don't simply educate—they transform who you become. Practical ways to identify the next room, event, mastermind, or coaching experience that can help unlock your next level. The truth is, life changes at intersections. It changes through conversations, relationships, mentorship, and moments where you decide to bet on yourself instead of waiting for the "perfect time" Because the perfect time doesn't exist. So my challenge to you is simple: Get in the room…the RIGHT room. Whether that's a conference, a mastermind, a church event, a coaching program, a leadership retreat, or simply surrounding yourself with people who make you better—don't wait. Invest in yourself. Show up. Ask questions. Take notes. Build relationships. You never know which conversation will change everything. If this episode encouraged you, challenged you, or inspired you to take action, would you do me a favor? Share it with a friend, a teammate, or someone who needs the reminder that their next breakthrough could be just one room away. Andrew Johnson is a leadership advisor and author of Iron Sharpens Iron, where he explores how the operating systems of elite sport can help businesses build stronger accountability, execution, and performance cultures. Drawing from lessons in professional sport, particularly the NFL, Andrew translates concepts like scoreboard clarity, roster discipline, standards under pressure, and “tape review” into practical frameworks leaders can apply inside modern organisations. His work focuses on helping companies move from average to elite by creating cultures where accountability is visible, standards are consistent, and performance improves because there is nowhere to hide. As a podcast guest, Andrew brings a practical and thought-provoking perspective on leadership, competition, talent, and sustained high performance.

Halftime 2026. Remember, halftime isn't the end of the game—it's where iconic coaches, leaders, and champions make adjustments. It's where winning teams regroup, refocus, and come charging out of the tunnel with a renewed fire. Maybe the first half of your year has been incredible. Maybe it's been one of the toughest seasons of your life. Or maybe it's been somewhere in between. Wherever you find yourself today, hear me loud and clear...the game is NOT over. You still have six months to create breakthrough and end 2026 in epic fashion. Six months to strengthen your faith. Six months to improve your health. Six months to restore relationships. Six months to chase the dream God placed on your heart. Six months to become the person you're truly called to be. In this special Halftime Episode, I'm sharing the 5-biggest reflections I'm personally walking through, along with 10-powerful questions that challenged me deeply. My prayer is that they challenge you too. Don't just listen to this episode...pause, reflect, answer the questions, and then go take action. Because the best may still be ahead of you. In this episode, you'll discover: Why every great comeback begins by honestly reviewing the scoreboard. How gratitude builds confidence and why celebrating your wins is essential for sustained growth. Why championship seasons always include losses—and how to transform pain into purpose instead of letting setbacks define you. The simple adjustments that can dramatically change your next six months. Why small daily disciplines truly become the "small hinges that swing big doors." How to evaluate your faith, family, fitness, finances, fun, and leadership at halftime. The importance of dreaming again, believing again, praying again, and stepping boldly into what God is calling you to do. 10 soul-punching questions that will challenge your heart, sharpen your focus, and help you finish 2026 stronger than you started. What it really means to stop surviving...and start playing to WIN the second half. The truth is this...the scoreboard at halftime doesn't determine the final outcome. Championships are won because someone chooses to make adjustments. Someone decides to believe again. Someone gets back up after being knocked down. Someone renews their faith, recommits to the process, and refuses to quit. That someone can be YOU. As you reflect on the first half of the year, don't waste this opportunity. Recover. Refocus. Reignite. Give yourself permission to celebrate what God has already done, learn from every setback, make the adjustments you know you need to make, and attack the second half with everything you've got. Your story is still being written. The best version of you is still waiting to emerge. And remember...the best is NOT behind you. The best is yet to come. If this episode challenged or encouraged you, I'd love to hear from you. Share it with a friend, post it on social media, and tag me so I can see who's committed to making the second half of 2026 their strongest yet. And if you haven't already, be sure to subscribe to The IMPACT SHOW podcast, leave a review, and keep showing up each week. There are some conversations that simply leave a mark on your heart. This is one of them. This week's episode of the Todd Durkin IMPACT Show is one of the most vulnerable, emotional, and hope-filled conversations we've ever had. My man, Jesse Winkler, shares his remarkable story that is going to challenge you, encourage you, and remind you that no matter how far you've fallen, you're never too far gone for God to restore your life. When I say, 'Live a life worth telling a story about…what's your story?", this episode is one heckuva story! Maybe you're carrying shame. Maybe you've made mistakes you wish you could erase. Maybe you're walking through depression, anxiety, addiction, failure, or a season where you've simply lost hope. If that's you...lean in. This conversation is for you. I truly believe God has someone listening to this episode today who needs to hear these words. Jesse's willingness to share the darkest chapter of his life could very well become the light that helps someone else find their way home. No matter where you are today, remember this: your setback doesn't have to become your ending. Sometimes, it's the very place where God begins writing your greatest comeback. In this episode Jesse shares what it's like to stand on both the mountaintop and in the deepest valley. After spending years serving as a pastor, planting churches, leading people, and building what looked like a successful life from the outside, everything came crashing down. Divorce. Financial ruin. Depression. Substance abuse. Violence. Trauma. Isolation. Even suicidal thoughts. For nearly a decade, Jesse found himself trapped in darkness, believing there was no way back. But God wasn't finished with his story. Through complete surrender, genuine community, and an unwavering pursuit of healing, Jesse experienced a life-changing transformation that restored not only his faith, but his purpose. Today, Jesse serves alongside me helping lead our "Iron Sharpens Iron" movement, coaches others through our health optimization program, and is passionate about helping men and women discover the freedom he once thought was impossible. His story isn't just about surviving. It's about redemption. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why guarding your heart is one of the most important disciplines you'll ever develop. How success, busyness, and achievement can quietly pull you away from what matters most. The subtle warning signs that often lead to burnout, broken relationships, and spiritual drift. The difference between losing in your failure and learning from your failure. Why isolation is one of the enemy';s greatest weapons—and why community is one of God's greatest gifts. Jesse's raw story of battling depression, addiction, anger, and suicidal thoughts. How surrender became the turning point that completely transformed his life. Why physical health, spiritual health, and mental health all work together. How God can redeem even the darkest chapters of your life. Why your greatest pain can become your greatest purpose. The power of confession, forgiveness, and making amends. How your story could become someone else's breakthrough. One of the greatest lessons from this conversation is that failure is never meant to become your identity. As Jesse says, you're either losing in your failure or you're learning from it. Every setback carries a lesson if we're willing to receive it, and every scar can become part of the story God uses to encourage someone else. That's exactly what Jesse is doing today—using his past to rescue people who are walking through the same darkness he once knew so well. This conversation is also a powerful reminder that healing is holistic. Our spiritual life, our physical health, our mindset, and the people we surround ourselves with all work together. When we intentionally spend time in God's Word, strengthen our bodies, renew our minds, and stay connected to a life-giving community, we position ourselves for transformation. We were never meant to carry life's burdens alone. My friends, I don't know where this episode finds you today. Maybe you're in a great season, or maybe you're carrying a weight that no one else knows about. If that's you, hear me loud and clear: God is not finished with your story. No matter how many mistakes you've made, how long you've been struggling, or how far you feel you've wandered, His grace is always greater than your past. The enemy wants you to believe you're too far gone, but this conversation is proof that redemption is always possible. Jesse's journey is living proof that God doesn't waste pain. He redeems it. He restores it. And He uses it to impact the lives of others. Sometimes the very thing you wish you could erase becomes the very testimony that gives someone else hope to keep going. I pray this episode reminds you to guard your heart, stay connected to community, never stop believing in God's promises, and trust that your greatest comeback may still be ahead of you. Because when you surrender your life to Him, your story isn't over—it's just beginning. If this conversation spoke to your heart, please do NOT keep it to yourself. Share this episode with someone who needs hope today. Maybe it's a friend who's quietly struggling, a family member walking through a difficult season, a teammate who's carrying more than they're letting on, or someone who simply needs to be reminded that they're not alone. You never know how one conversation, one story, or one message of hope can change—or even save—a life. This week's episode is one that's incredibly personal to me. I'm recording it just hours after our very first "Iron Sharpens Iron" gathering at IMPACT-X Performance (San Diego), and I wanted to capture the emotion while it was still fresh. My voice may be a little hoarse, but my heart has never been more full. For years, I've felt God calling me to create something that goes beyond workouts, beyond business, and even beyond Sunday mornings. I believe people are starving for deeper faith, stronger relationships, greater purpose, and a place where they can grow together without pretending to have it all figured out. In this episode, I share why I started Iron Sharpens Iron, the powerful breakthroughs that happened during our very first gathering, and the vision I believe God has placed on my heart for where this movement is headed. My prayer is that this conversation encourages you to become stronger physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally—and ultimately inspires you to become the person God created you to be. In This Episode, You'll Learn: The five reasons I felt called to launch the Iron Sharpens Iron movement. Why authentic community is one of the greatest needs facing men today. How your faith and your fitness work together to build true strength from the inside out. Why leadership always begins with character, conviction, and a relationship with God. The biggest takeaways from our very first Iron Sharpens Iron gathering and why it impacted me so deeply. Why vulnerability isn't weakness—it's often where healing begins. How surrounding yourself with the right people can completely change the direction of your life. The vision I have for taking Iron Sharpens Iron beyond San Diego and building a movement that impacts families, communities, and generations. The 3 questions I believe every one of us needs to answer: 1. Who are you sharpening? 2. Who should you be sharpening? 3. Who is sharpening you? I truly believe this episode is about much more than launching a new program. It's about answering a call. Now more than ever, we need stronger leaders, stronger families, stronger communities, and stronger faith. We need men who are willing to step up, encourage one another, hold each other accountable, and pursue becoming the very best version of themselves—not for their own glory, but for God's. I've said it before and I'll say it again: fitness can change your body and mind, but faith can change your life. When you bring faith & fitness together, lives change. Families change. Communities change. Generations change. If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to share it with another man who needs to hear this message. Your workout partner, your son, your dad, your brother, your coach, or a friend who could use a little hope and encouragement right now. And if you're ready to be part of the Iron Sharpens Iron movement, I'd love to have you join us. P.S #1 If you're interested in joining the upcoming Iron Sharpens Iron six-week experience, text "Iron Sharpens Iron" 619.304.2216, and I'll make sure you receive all the details as we launch this movement. P.S #2. Be sure to subscribe to The IMPACT SHOW, leave a review if today's episode encouraged you, and share it with someone who needs a little more faith, purpose, and impact in their life.

Fatherhood has been one of the greatest gifts and blessings of my life. As I prepare to celebrate Father's Day this weekend and soon enter a brand-new season as an empty nester, I've been reflecting on the journey of raising three incredible kids over the last 23 years. The truth is, there's no playbook for being a parent. No manual. No perfect formula. You learn by diving in, showing up, making mistakes, and loving with your whole heart. In this heartfelt episode, I share the lessons, memories, and wisdom that have shaped me as a father—from those 4 a.m. newborn moments with Luke sleeping on my chest, to coaching my kids on the field, to preparing to watch all three of them spread their wings and chase their dreams. Whether you're a dad, mom, grandparent, coach, mentor, or simply someone who values family, this episode is a powerful reminder that the greatest impact we make often happens at home. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why every season of parenting deserves to be appreciated and embraced. How becoming a parent deepens your purpose and changes your perspective forever. The power of creating meaningful experiences and memories with your family. Why the daily routines, values, and habits you instill matter more than any vacation or milestone. The bedtime affirmation that shaped the Durkin family culture for nearly two decades. How coaching your kids can strengthen your relationships and create unforgettable moments. Why volunteering, mentoring, and being involved in your children's activities matters so much. The life-changing lesson Todd learned from his father about the value of time. How "special time" with your kids can leave an imprint that lasts a lifetime. Why fathers and mothers play an irreplaceable role in shaping future generations. The emotions, excitement, and gratitude that come with entering the empty-nester chapter of life. A powerful reminder that time is our most precious commodity—and we can't afford to waste it. Fatherhood or parenting isn't about being perfect. It's about being present. It's about showing up day after day, creating experiences, building character, teaching values, and loving your kids through every season of life. As I look back on 23 years of being a Dad, what stands out most isn't the accomplishments, the awards, or the milestones—it's the moments. The conversations. The trips. The routines. The laughter. The lessons. The time. And as I prepare for this next chapter with all three of my children now pursuing their own dreams, I'm reminded that our role as parents isn't to keep our kids close forever—it's to help them grow wings and fly. If this episode spoke to you, please share it with a father, mother, coach, mentor, or someone who has made a lasting impact on your life. Friendship is more than proximity—it's purpose. In this episode, we explore what real, biblical friendship looks like. From the friends who carried a paralyzed man to Jesus, to the sharpening power of godly relationships, Scripture shows us that the right people in your life can help carry you closer to Christ—or pull you away from Him. We'll unpack what it means to be a friend who shows up, stands strong, and points others toward Jesus, while also examining the warning against friendships rooted in the world. Because not all friendships are equal—and not all are worth keeping.

Most Christian men don't mean to drift… but many end up outsourcing discipleship to the church. If you've ever felt like you're not “qualified” to lead spiritually at home, this conversation will challenge you—in the best way. In this episode, Brian from Iron Sharpens Iron breaks down why so many men feel disengaged, why churches often (accidentally) create a codependency that weakens fathers, and what God's design for biblical manhood and discipleship really looks like. You'll hear why the church can't replace what God intended a man to do, how spiritual leadership in the home shapes everything else (including your witness in the marketplace), and why real growth happens through brotherhood, not isolation. If you want stronger faith, a deeper walk with Christ, and a practical path to leading your marriage and children with confidence—this is for you. No hype. No guilt. Just a clear call to become the kind of man who goes deep with Godand brings that strength home. Why many churches train kids well but unintentionally remove the pressure God designed fathers to carry, and how that leads to spiritual disengagement at home. The “general contractor” problem—how men subcontract faith to professionals—and the hidden cost it creates in marriage, parenting, and personal growth. A simple discipleship blueprint for men: the Paul, Barnabas, Timothy model and why every man needs mentoring, brotherhood, and someone to invest in. How to build a firm faith foundation through daily Scripture, real relationships, and consistent spiritual leadership that holds up when life gets hard. 00:00 Intro00:28 Brian's story + Iron Sharpens Iron02:46 Why men feel spiritually incompetent04:20 The “general contractor” Christian07:29 Why outsourcing discipleship is costly09:17 What biblical spiritual leadership looks like at home12:33 Baby dedication + church expectations vs reality15:17 How churches can fix the codependency20:01 What men should do right now21:16 Brotherhood + getting connected25:01 Discipleship framework: Paul, Barnabas, Timothy32:16 Why discipleship is life-on-life34:26 Losing his wife + why foundation matters37:12 The #1 action step for men39:16 Where to connect with Brian #MensMinistry #BiblicalManhood #Discipleship #SpiritualLeadership #ChristianMen Learn more about your ad choices.
