What do presidential inaugurations reveal about America's true foundation? When Warren G. Harding and Jimmy Carter placed their hands on Micah 6:8 during their oaths of office, they continued a tradition that powerfully contradicts the modern narrative of America as a secular nation. This episode of American Soul digs deep into the historical evidence of Christianity's fundamental role in shaping our national identity.Thomas Jefferson, often misrepresented as a purely secular thinker, spoke in his inaugural address of American principles "enlightened by a benign religion" while acknowledging "an overruling Providence." These words from the supposed champion of church-state separation reveal how thoroughly Christianity informed even the most intellectually independent founder's worldview. The evidence is clear: America's foundation rests firmly on Christian principles, despite ongoing efforts to rewrite that history. The podcast challenges listeners to examine how they allocate their time. We understand that excellence in career and academics requires dedicated effort, yet somehow expect our spiritual lives and marriages to flourish without the same investment. This disconnect between stated values and actual time allocation reveals much about our priorities. Are we putting our money where our mouth is when it comes to our relationship with God?Robert Morris Page, the father of US radar and a brilliant physicist, noted that biblical prophecies about Christ, written hundreds of years before his birth, provide compelling scientific evidence for Christianity. The mathematical impossibility of these prophecies being fulfilled by chance led Page to conclude they could only come from "a realm not subject to the laws of time as we know them." This episode makes a compelling case that truly brilliant minds following evidence honestly will inevitably find their way to Christianity. The episode also shares powerful accounts of Christian martyrs, including the extraordinary story of the Theban Legion – 6,666 Christian soldiers who unanimously refused to participate in pagan sacrifices or swear an oath against Christianity. Even after facing decimation twice, the remaining soldiers stood firm until all were executed. Their sacrifice raises profound questions about our own spiritual commitment in much less challenging circumstances.Subscribe to American Soul for more explorations of faith, history, and America's founding principles. Resurrection season calls us to consider the profound meaning of Jesus' sacrifice - He paid for sins He didn't commit, making salvation personal rather than abstract. We don't go to hell because of sin but because we reject the One who thought we were worth saving and paid the price for our sins.• Courage is operating boldly, confidently, and fearlessly in the face of challenges• Six types of courage every believer needs: physical, moral, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual• Knowing your identity in Christ is fundamental to operating with courage• Understanding God's timing helps us know when to act and when to wait• Jesus demonstrated courage in returning to Jerusalem despite knowing death awaited• Lazarus' resurrection teaches us about God's power over dead situations in our lives• Unusual, authentic worship positions us for breakthroughs and miracles• God wants to shift things quickly for those willing to be courageous• Sometimes we need just one "Thomas" - someone willing to stand with us through challengesIf you're seeking a breakthrough, don't wait! Be bold like Jesus, make courageous decisions, give God unusual worship, and pray with persistence. Your faith can make you whole. Welcome To Chosen City Church! The grace of God always produces the fruit of righteousness in His people
In the second half of Matthew 21 the authority of Jesus is challenged by the religious people who fled from the temple when Jesus arrived and sent everyone out that had made it a market rather than house of prayer. Jesus then tells the story of the two sons who the father asked to work in the vineyard. Jesus is illustrating the first shall be last and the last first yet again. The tax collectors and prostitutes who were the last in the religious people's minds were actually going to be the first into the kingdom of Heaven. The religious leaders were the last in Jesus eyes. The chapter concludes with the story of the parable the Evil Farmers with which Jesus draws them in to actually condemning themselves without realizing it util it was too late. If Jesus Christ is not at the center of your worship, it will have no power to save Matthew 21:23-32
Jesus now enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The contrast is significant of the Roman Kings that ride in on a war horse and now the Messiah - King of the Jews comes riding on a donkey, his feet no doubt almost dragging in the dust. Everyone flocks out to see and welcome Him into the city. They expect him to set up an earthly kingdom and conquer the Romans. But he instead goes to the temple and drives out the animals and their sellers that had turned it from a place of prayer into a market. Those who question the nonviolence of Jesus point to this story and the fig tree as examples of his violence. However it is his authority not his violence that caused the people to flee. We also address the diagnosis of the fig tree which reveals his disappointment in the nation of Israel that were found to be barren of the fruit that God wanted it to bare. In this episode of Devotions with Christian Outdoors Jon takes a brief look at some of the details surrounding the Triumphal Entry during Holy Week. Jesus reveals His heart for the spiritually blind. Jesus reveals His heart for the nations. Jesus reveals His heart for the marginalized. Matthew 21.1-17; Luke 19.41-44; John 3.17
In his Palm Sunday sermon "Hosanna In The Highest," Pastor Micah Stephens passionately unpacks the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as recounted in Matthew 21, challenging listeners to grapple with the pivotal question, "Who is this?" Pastor Micah vividly contrasts the crowd's misguided expectations of a conquering Messiah with Jesus' humble arrival on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy as a peaceful King intent on saving humanity from sin, not merely political oppression. Reflecting on the church's defiant stand during 2020 against restrictive orders, he underscores the importance of true worship—a heart posture of submission to Christ's identity as King, not just a prophet—urging believers to align their lives with God's will through obedience, even when it defies personal comfort or societal norms. This message calls for genuine repentance and a deeper understanding of Jesus' cosmic rescue mission, setting the stage for Holy Week's transformative journey to the cross.Verse References: Matthew 21 verses 1-11, 1 John 4 verse 8, Isaiah 55 verses 8-9, Numbers 4 verse 15, John 12 verse 16, Psalm 150 verses 1-6, Psalm 18 verses 9-10, Micah 6 verse 8, Luke 19 verses 32-34, Matthew 7 verses 21-23, John 12 verse 25Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. Pastor Samson's Palm Sunday message centers on Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem as the King who comes in peace, fulfilling prophecy and inviting people to respond while the offer of salvation is still available. Through three key scenes during Holy Week, he highlights how the humble (Galilean crowds), the weak (children), and even the King himself cry out—showing us the importance of public praise, deep personal faith, and a heart for the lost. His challenge to us this Easter season is urgent: cry out to Jesus through personal surrender and baptism, and cry out for Him by boldly sharing the good news because the time is short and the King has come. Listen and be challenged. Support the show
