This week, we begin a series of standalone sermons by looking at Hebrews 12:1-2. This passage is full of imagery that describes faith as a race. In it, we will learn the importance of the truth that faith is not a solo activity, but a commitment to live in community. The author of Hebrews goes on to challenge Christians to live with endurance and lay aside anything holding them back from pursuing Jesus. These timeless reminders contain many applications to our lives today. By God's grace, we can "run the race" of our lives for His glory and our good. Key Verses: Hebrews 12:1-2

In this concluding message of Matthew 13, Pastor Karl unpacks the final three parables of Jesus — the Hidden Treasure, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Net — and challenges the common interpretations most of us have grown up hearing.Rather than reading these parables through a modern American lens, Pastor Karl takes us back into a first-century Jewish mindset to uncover what Jesus was really communicating. The treasure hidden in the field isn't something we purchase with our devotion — it's a picture of Jesus himself, who in joy gave everything to redeem his chosen people. The pearl of great price wasn't a treasure to the Jews at all, which is exactly the point: Jesus was revealing the shocking mystery that Gentiles — the unclean, the outsiders — would be included in the kingdom of God. And the parable of the net reminds us that not all roads lead to heaven, and that a day of separation is coming.Pastor Karl also draws a striking connection to the book of Ruth, showing how Boaz purchasing the field to gain Ruth as his bride foreshadowed what Jesus would do for his people — buying the field to possess the treasure within it.The message closes with one of the hardest passages for any pastor to preach at his own church: Jesus returning to his hometown, only to be met with familiarity and low expectation. The takeaway is pointed — low expectation limits reception. The messenger can be overlooked, but the message cannot: God chose to treasure you, not because of anything you offered, but because of the price his Son was willing to pay.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
The theme for Today's meditation is Running the Race based selections from Galatians chapter 5; Amos chapter 5; 2 Timothy chapters 2 and 4; Hebrews chapter 12; Romans chapter 5; Proverbs chapter 18; 1 Corinthians chapter 9; Philippians chapters 2 and 3; and Isaiah chapter 40. Throughout Scriptures we are encouraged to run with endurance. Endurance comes from practice, from training and from a commitment to finish what we've started. In this case, it is to see our faith to its end. To finish our life here having done all we could do to be faithful to the one who loves us most. We are cheered by those whom God has chosen to walk with us - no, to run with us – along side as we depend on each other for encouragement and support. Endurance is not just about strength—it's about focus. In Part 2 of Run With Endurance, we shift our attention to the One who makes finishing possible: Jesus. Drawing from Hebrews 12:2–3, the story of Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14, and Paul's relentless pursuit in Philippians 3, this episode reveals a powerful truth: when your focus drifts, your faith weakens—but when your eyes stay on Jesus, you find strength to keep going. If you've been feeling weary, distracted, or close to giving up, this episode will call you back to what matters most—fixing your eyes on Christ and pressing forward no matter what.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 31st of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Philippians 3:12: “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” What a beautiful scripture! Then the next one just to confirm it, is found in the Book of Hebrews 12:1: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,…”Oh my dear friend, there is no stopping now, no ways! There is no resting, but rather we are pressing on towards our eternal home in Heaven. You say I cannot take it anymore. The road is too hard, it is too steep, it is too narrow, it is too stony. Keep on keeping on. Do not allow any distractions to hold you back. I am thinking of the mighty Comrades Marathon - 90 odd kilometres. When you're tired, and the heat is bearing down on you and those hills are looking absolutely impossible to run over, you say to yourself, “I can't anymore”. And then what happens? A courtesy vehicle rides up, and lovely coffee, the door opens and the people inside say, ‘Look, you are looking very tired. Don't you want to stop?” But you know what happens, when you step into that vehicle, they take the number off your chest and you are disqualified. The race is over for you. Do not stop. Do not let that vehicle tempt you to throw in the towel. Then you carry on, and you carry on, and then all of a sudden you come up next to a beautiful shady tree on the side of the road, and you feel, “If I just sit down for a minute and have a rest I'll be fine.” Don't do it because you will never get up again. Keep on running the race which the Lord is running with you. You are not running on your own. Keep your eye on the finish line and never look back and I want to tell you, you will make it to the end. There is a cloud of witnesses waiting for you at the finish line, all your loved ones who have gone before you. They are clapping. Keep running, you are nearly there, and the worst thing of course is to look behind you. When you look behind you, you normally don't finish the race. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and He will see you through.Have a wonderful day, keep running the race and remember if Christ is for you, there is no man who will stand against you. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

Pastor Aaron Dailey brings an encouraging word, reminding us what we're called to, and how when it's all rooted in Jesus, it's possible to keep chasing after him, while being part of the team of his people, getting his work done in the world.
Live your life with endurance and perseverance, shedding distractions (weights and sins) and focusing on Jesus as your guide, just like an athlete sheds heavy robes to run faster, to complete the spiritual journey God has set for you. Running the race with patience is about continuous effort, trusting God to finish what He started in you, and finding strength in Him despite the challenges.Support the showhttp://www.gwafgbc.org http://www.gwafgbc.org/storehttp://www.gwafgbc.org/givehttps://vimeo.com/manage/videos
God didn't call you to a life on the sidelines. There's new ground God wants you to take — and it will stretch you beyond your comfort zone. That's the point. This week, we dive into what Paul really meant when he said "run in a way to get the prize"—by actually following his footsteps in Tarsus (modern-day Turkey). This week, Kyle Ranson helps us to see what he saw then, and feel what God is calling you to right now.Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Adrian Pursglove speaks in the middle of our Hunger Season about running the race for Jesus,
The Christian life is not a casual stroll — it is a race that requires endurance, discipline, and focus on Christ. In this episode, we explore what it means to run with purpose, stay spiritually disciplined, and finish well. Drawing from Paul's words and the encouragement of Scripture, we are reminded that the goal is not just to start strong but to finish faithfully. God has set a race before each of us. The question is: Are we running to win?
Some of us in our life have stopped running. We have stopped racing. We have stopped striving for the very best for us and our relationship with God. Get up on your feet and start fighting again. Don't settle for second best but start striving to win in everything you do! God bless your race!!

A new year brings excitement and new beginnings, but it can also bring the temptation to add more to what is already heavy. Before picking up anything new in 2026, we lay down some old things from 2025. Hebrews 12 reminds us that before we fix our eyes on Jesus, there are things that must be laid aside. You cannot run the race God has for you while carrying what slows you down. We are told to lay aside every hindrance and the sin that entangles us. A believer cannot run freely when wrapped up in sin, shame, or old ways of thinking. Conviction is a gift from God, given because He loves us. Strength comes from fixing our eyes on Jesus, who gives the power to overcome and not pick it back up. Satan accuses and reminds us of failure, but Jesus is our advocate who has already paid the penalty. Lay down what is behind, fix your eyes on Jesus, and run the race God has set before you. As we continue to follow the missions of Paul and Barnabas, Fr. Mike highlights the fickle nature of humanity and the futility of striving for the praise of men. In the final message of our Hebrews series, Pastor David Maestas teaches from Hebrews 12, a chapter that calls believers to endurance, maturity, and unwavering focus on Jesus. Hebrews 12 reminds us that the Christian life is a race — one that requires discipline, perseverance, and intentionality. We are surrounded by the legacy of those who ran before us (Hebrews 11), inspiring us to keep moving forward when life feels heavy. Pastor David explores how: God's discipline isn't punishment — it's proof of His love. Trials build spiritual endurance and strength. We are called to throw off the sin and distractions that slow us down. Fixing our eyes on Jesus gives us the courage to keep going. The discipline you're experiencing isn't God's rejection — it's His preparation. The race is long, but you're not running it alone. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the One who began your story and will faithfully finish it. SUBSCRIBE to our channel for more like this!
RUN THE RACE by EastLake Tri-Cities
In this episode, I reflect on the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk and what his example means for us as Christians moving forward. Charlie was a man of discipline, conviction, and grit—a reminder that Christianity is not for the faint of heart. We are called to run the race with endurance, to stand firm in the truth, and to live with courage even when it costs us. I'll walk through what it means to have GRIT as followers of Christ—Grounded in God's Word, Resilient in trials, Intentional in faith, and Tenacious for the truth. This is not about applause or comfort but about finishing the race well, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9. As we grieve, we don't grieve as those without hope. We remember that our God is unchanging, sovereign, and victorious over death itself. The best way to honor Charlie's legacy is to live with the same grit and conviction, keeping our eyes fixed on Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
