This week we're joined by our friend and social media activist Tariq Ra'ouf and asking: how do you live a “normal” life when everything feels anything but normal? Tariq has been making a difference with his transparent and genuine coverage of tragedies that are going on in the world. We dig into a Vox advice column about the “dual state” theory and why some people carry on like everything's fine while others feel like the ground is shifting beneath their feet. We share how we're talking to friends who just don't seem concerned, and talk strategies for staying informed without losing our minds. We wrap with actionable recommendations in light of this week's topic: 5Calls.org (Andrew) and Indivisible.org (Laura). In the Dumpster Fire Corner, we unpack the alarming abduction of Nancy Guthrie: the strange digital trail involving Nest camera footage that supposedly didn't exist, and what it means for your data privacy. Plus the latest Epstein file developments, including newly revealed names, political finger-pointing, and mounting pressure on powerful figures. And in this week's installment of After Dark, we're getting honest about marriage, long-term partnerships, divorce, and what commitment looks like for Millennials who aren't in a rush to walk down the aisle. On September 22, 2025, Chef Matthew Biancaniello embarked on one of the greatest challenges of his life: a 21 mile swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes, CA. While his journey is inspiring on its own, he didn't do it just for himself. The swim was a vehicle to raise money and awareness for Indivisible Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching consciousness and creativity to kids. https://instagram.com/frequency.creative What motivated you to make this film? This is the 2nd film in a documentary series I'm directing called Rhythms, which is all about the unseen rituals of inspiring people. I learned about Matthew Biancaniello's marathon swim to raise money for Indivisible Arts through Robert Wemischner, who's both a friend and was the subject for the first Rhythms film. I was immediately intrigued, but then I spoke to Matthew as well as Rafael McMaster, the founder of Indivisible Arts, and I was so inspired. I knew I had to tell this story in some way, and thankfully everyone was excited to have me involved in this capacity. Indivisible Arts is a remarkable organization, teaching creativity and consciousness to kids. The first time I went to their space in Hermosa Beach I was taken aback. These kids are able to explore their own sense of self in a way that's rare, as well as build vital mindfulness and emotional intelligence skills. Coupling that story with Matthew's intense swim, 2 years after major back surgery, was something I felt deeply moved by. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? I learned about the September 2025 swim in July. By early September we were confirmed to shoot, with production beginning on September 22. We completed the film and released it online on November 2, so it was about 4 months in total. — Subscribe to the podcast: Tweets by wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod/ https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod

In this week's episode of the Sunlight Tax Podcast, I open up about navigating personal and societal upheaval during times of economic uncertainty and political tension. We dive into the challenges small business owners face, including how hard it can feel to sell your work in dark times and why some forms of protest or "resistance" can unintentionally hurt ethical small businesses. I also share practical strategies for pushing back without causing harm, maintaining integrity, and turning anger or frustration into constructive action. This episode is a reminder to stay encouraged, continue your good work, and support your business and community responsibly, even when the world feels unstable. Eyes on Minneapolis: three-quarters of Americans have seen all or some of the video of the murder of Alex Pretti. With this attention, we have the power to challenge ICE; where do we stand on the Democrats' bill proposing to enforce restrictions? Harold Meyerson comments.Next: The Nation nominates Minneapolis for the Nobel Peace Prize; the first time a city and its people have been nominated for the prize. Also: We have the power to rein in ICE and protect our neighbors, Leah Greenberg argues – she's co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible, the group that organized No Kings 2 last October, the largest demonstration in American history. The key right now, she says, is for Senate Democrats to refuse to fund Homeland Security in this week's budget vote, unless Republicans agree to put meaningful restrictions on that lawless agency.Plus: The group Standing Together says it is still possible for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side with full equality and justice for everyone. The are the largest Jewish-Arab grassroots movement in Israel, working to create an alternative to the existing reality by building political power. Sally Abed explains -- she's a Palestinian citizen of Israel, a leader of Standing Together, and she was elected to the Haifa city council in February 2024.
Patrick welcomes listeners into lively national discussions about immigration, where real calls spark flashes of emotion and candid debate. Stories of border crossings, law enforcement pressures, political motives, and everyday struggles collide as Patrick weaves tough questions about justice, compassion, and faith into every exchange. He pushes for honest talk, highlighting on-the-ground realities and his own family history, refusing to let political talking points drown out the lived complexities shaping the issue. Audio: President Obama in 2010 shoots down the whole "stop deportations and just let the illegal immigrants be" argument that the Democrat party is currently pushing. - https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2016146909245665336?s=20 (00:21) Mark – Patrick, I want to compliment you on how you are handling yourself regarding ICE. (05:18) Chris - I remember that whistling has been happening since Obama and Clinton. I think that more people without convictions are being held. I also have issues with how they are training ICE. (09:41) Rico - ICE is being subjected to abuse because people hate Trump. They are using Hispanics. I feel used. (17:57) Courtney - I think Covid and propaganda broke people's minds and that is why people are protesting. (20:43) Doug - Are people looking into organization Indivisible? I asked protestors to go onto public property. I asked them who they were with and they said Indivisible. (24:03) Carlos - People come over illegally but some do come here to escape murder or alcoholism. I fall into this category. How do we fix this? (29:47) Elizabeth - I think we are not thinking outside of the box. Caravans were sent here and are now organized. We see this affecting legal immigrants who are here. Maybe this is how they will take away rights from people. We have to be vigilant. (39:22) Kathleen - I think we don't have the ability to help the poor who need help because of all the illegal immigrants that come here. (45:14) Carla - Trump is a big organizer too. He out organized Dems. Both sides are doing it. (48:26)
Hi y'all. Things are off the rails in the U.S., and I'm here because what we need most in dark times is each other. In this release, I'm sharing excerpts from an earlier-this-week Patreon drop where I discuss how I'm coping and making my feelings of outrage actionable, specifically my fury toward federal agencies like ICE and Customs & Border Patrol whose history of violence against citizens of color and undocumented immigrants pre-dates the Trump Era (by a lot). I talk about how I'm investing in community and local action, and how you can, too. Let's follow Minnesota's lead and plug into active response networks in our own communities. It's a snowstorm, Jen's from Chicago, and we're feeling extra qualified to talk about Ice Planet Barbarians! It's the book, and the series that took the world by storm back in 2015, and we're revisiting the absolute powerhouse it was then, before it launched an entire subgenre of romance and changed the romance landscape. We're also talking about Ruby Dixon's clear skill, her obvious love of the genre, and all the ways she makes us both laugh and sigh.If you have a favorite IPB book and you want to talk about it, come find us (and other romance lovers) on the Fated Mates Discord, which you can access by joining our patreon. That's precisely who is behind the ICE Out campaign... Indivisible – which is also why you've often seen NoKings material around these ICE protests. Those are the useful idiots radicalized by Marxists seeking to undermine our system of government and they're willing to murder Charlie Kirk, try to murder President Trump and ICE agents to do it. The Left wanted to call January 6th “an insurrection”. The political Left is the insurrection. I'm all for President Trump acting on it to uphold the rule of law.
