Produced by KSQD 90.7, 89.5 & 89.7FM"Be Bold America! ~ Aired May 15, 2026With the 2026 midterm elections looming and democracy on the line, progressive attorney, activist, and author, Gary Lucks, presents in his new book We Are The People fiercely practical, street-level directions for Americans who want to engage beyond posting, protesting, or donating, to actually helping flip the House and Senate this November.Drawing on postmortem data from Activate America, Lucks shows that grassroots volunteers shifted outcomes by 2-4% in battleground districts in 2024 and that Democrats need to flip just three seats in the House and four in the Senate to restore a legislative firewall against the current administration's agenda. Unlike many tomes on the current political situation, We Are the Power tells readers exactly how to close that gap.Gary Lucks, JD, CPEA, is a progressive author, activist, and environmental attorney who has spent four decades at the intersection of law, policy, and sustainability. He is the founder of Progressive Action East Bay and Resistance Action East Bay Indivisible, two of California's most active grassroots political networks. Reclaim Christian Church

In this introduction to a summer-long series on Christian unity, we're confronted with an uncomfortable truth: the church seems to be fracturing over issues that ultimately don't matter. While Christians globally face genuine persecution, many of us are arguing about political positions, end-times predictions, conspiracy theories, and worship styles rather than focusing on our core mission. The message challenges us to examine whether we've created a curated version of Jesus that fits our preferences rather than submitting to the true Christ of Scripture. Drawing from Philippians and the prayer of Jesus in John 17, we're reminded that our unity isn't optional—it's commanded and essential to our effectiveness in reaching the world. The call is clear: we must stand firm in one spirit, with one mind, striving side by side for the gospel. Our unity is one of our most powerful witnesses to a watching world. When we lose sight of what truly matters—Christ and Christ crucified—we become like salt that has lost its flavor, good for nothing but to be trampled underfoot. The series ahead will tackle controversial topics in 1 Corinthians not to create division, but to help us understand one another better and unite around what matters most.

At its core, a pledge is an act of binding the self through the spoken word. In lesser known esoteric traditions, speech is not treated as casual; it is creative and formative. To declare something aloud, especially in a repeated, formalized way, is to impress it upon both the individual psyche and the collective field. In the ancient world, this would be called an oath, and oaths were never trivial. This is why presidents have to take an oath. They were and are still understood as acts that linked the speaker to a principle or cosmic order. And if violated, well...It is a curious thing that language, mere sound shaped by the tongue, can become a ritual of such enormous psychological gravity. The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States, recited by children in classrooms before they have any real conception of the world, is not simply a benign civic exercise. It is, in many ways, an initiation into a narrative. One that quietly encodes assumptions about authority, identity, and the structure of the world. When one says “I pledge allegiance,” they are not merely expressing affection or appreciation. Allegiance is an ancient and heavy word with feudal overtones. It implies a bond of loyalty between subject and supposed sovereign. It is not the language of liberty or free association; it is the language of hierarchy. And so, from the very first phrase, the individual is placed into a relationship. Not with a community of living people, but with an abstraction: a flag, a symbol, an idea crystallized into iconography.———An Infinite Path podcast official URL http://www.aninfinitepath.comSpotify | iTunes | YouTube | Overcast FM | Stitcher | Player FM

Americans thwart Trump's immigrant prisons plan by making it too hard

The Trump administration "would prefer to do things that are easy," Rachel Maddow points out. And so, by making the implementation of a nationwide immigrant prison system not at all easy, and, in fact, quite hard, Americans pushing back against Trump's plan are winning, and Trump's prisons are not opening.  Michael Wriston, co-founder of Project Salt Box, and Miles Taylor, former DHS chief of staff, talk with Rachel Maddow about their new project, GTFOICE.org, which is designed to help Americans mobilize against the construction of immigrant prisons in their local area. Rachel Maddow points out that the to the extent that the security breach at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner is a crisis for the Secret Service, it is only one of many crises that have come to characterize Donald Trump's Department of Homeland Security. And Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible, talks with Rachel Maddow about the upcoming May Day protests and the progress of American activism in the Trump era. Want more of Rachel? The other day your faithful podcast host argued that Donald Trump's presidency is in free fall in terms of public opinion. Now the signs are even clearer: His approval ratings have dropped below 40 percent in The New York Times's polling averages and in two other sets of averages as well. That's a critical milestone. Meanwhile, CNN's Harry Enten powerfully points out that Trump has been on a steady, inexorable decline for months, and is now a net 45 points under water with independents. That's worse than Richard Nixon during Watergate. And the millions who showed up to protest Trump and No Kings marches last weekend constituted perhaps the largest single-day protest in U.S. history. We talked to Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible, which organized the protests. She explains what surprised her about No Kings turnout in red areas, explores the deeper reasons that Trump is cratering on unlikely issues like immigration and war, and digs into what Democrats must do to sustain this energy through Election Day.  Looking for More from the DSR Network? Rachel Maddow points out several instances of Donald Trump's Department of Homeland Security paying tens of millions of dollars more than the assessed value of warehouses the administration wants to turn into massive prison camps for immigrants. While Donald Trump's scattershot strategy against Iran appears to produce a lot of positive outcomes for Russia, the American public is not so fortunate. But Trump's worthless word and the biuld-up of U.S. troops in the Middle East make a negotiated end to the situation in Iran seem increasingly unlikely. Rachel Maddow discusses with former deputy national security advisor Ben Rhodes. Indivisible's Ezra Levin, fresh off a massive weekend of No Kings protests, talks with Rachel about the next protest event in the works, a general strike on May 1. Rachel Maddow highlights the Trump administration's shift from using the Justice Department to meddle in states' elections to assigning that task to the Department of Homeland Security, which is distinguished by scandals, incompetence and a disregard for the law. Rachel Maddow looks at how the "No Kings" protests have grown progressively as outrage over Donald Trump's policies and conduct has grown, and now with the third "No Kings" day set for Saturday, March 28th, truly massive crowds are expected to make their views known. Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible, joins to discuss the growing movement. As Ezra Levin reminds us, No Kings is not just something we HAVE to do but something we GET to do. That we get to be a part of history by sending a very public message to our country, and the world, that we are mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore. But this time, it's not enough to just go, we need to be bringing people with us. This administration is an existential threat to America and the world. No Kings is a day of community, that doesn't just protest our bad president but brings together good people. Authoritarians want us to feel hopeless, like they are inevitable, but days like No Kings and the actions we take with our people afterward, is the antidote. We come in peace. But we come in numbers. Synopsis:  Indivisible's Ezra Levin and Hungarian organizer László Upor share creative, community-driven tactics — from joyful protests to bold campus actions — that pushed back against autocratic agendas. Their message: you have more power than you think. This show is made possible by you!  Make a tax deductible donation and become a member go to LauraFlanders.org/donate.  Description: If you care about resisting autocracy and building democracy, the U.S. has much to learn from Hungary. While Donald Trump rails against Europe, he and Hungary's strongman leader, Viktor Orbán, have praised each other for years. Anti-democratic, anti-immigrant, anti-woman, anti-queer — Orbán and Trump came to power on parallel tracks with similar values. In their first interview together, Ezra Levin, the co-founder of Indivisible (the group behind No Kings!) and László Upor, a leader in one of Hungary's most creative and visible resistance efforts, share their experiences of resisting authoritarianism. Upor is former Vice Rector and Acting Rector of the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest — the one university that fought back when the Orbán administration began taking control of Hungary's universities. Levin is the co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible, the grassroots movement behind such protests as the historic Hands Off and No Kings rallies. From the principles of their organizing to frog suits and caution tape, today's episode is a masterclass in creative resistance. Plus a commentary from Laura. “Our enemy in this isn't Trump, it's not the Republicans. It's not the broader regime. Our enemy is this sense of cynicism or fatalism or nihilism . . . I do think a core principle in our communication philosophy is convincing people, you have power, you just gotta use it. The best way to use it is in concert with a lot of other people in your community.” - Ezra Levin “You have to laugh at them, not be afraid of them . . . They don't understand mirth. They don't understand the derision. They think they are invincible. And when we don't give in, they don't understand what's going on.” - László Upper Guests: • Ezra Levin: Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director, Indivisible • László Upor: Former Vice Rector & Acting Rector, University of Theatre and Film Arts (SzFE), Budapest, Hungary Listen to the full uncut conversation in this podcast feed.
