Based all the way up in the Yukon Territory capital of Whitehorse, Gordie Tentrees possesses an unparalleled work ethic that sees him on the road as much or more than any other Canadian artist out there. With 8 records to his credit, this authentic road poet routinely travels North America, Europe, Australia, UK & Ireland either solo or with legendary sideman Jaxon Haldane (of famed Winnipeg band, D-Rangers). From Celtic Connections (in Glasgow, Scotland) to the National Folk Festival (in Canberra, AU) his ability to hold an audience and weave melody while juggling the dark with the light is infectious. Gordie's 8th album, Mean Old World, was released earlier this month on September 14th on Buckaroo Records. For more on Gordie visit: www.tentrees.ca or gordietentrees.bandcamp.com

Kirk goes for a snowmobile ride and ends up in Gilbert Plains. He drops in on Hemp Sense and Lyall Bates graciously gives him an interview. Learn how Hemp Sense technology is on the cutting edge of getting CBD's out of industrial hemp. And this isn't from a well controlled green house. This is industrial hemp from an open field. And it is harder than you'd think. If you don't immediately get the hemp buds off the field and start drying and curing them in a couple hours, all the CBD is destroyed by composting. Hemp Derived CBD is all the rage. Come listen to an expert on how to get it off the field. We had the chance to catch up with Gordie and Jaxon after their show at Shepody House. These 2 traveled a long way and played a great show so we rewarded them with some Pints of Graystone and a podcast. We cover a little of everything in this one, from craft beer to man buns! We actually have 4 live tracks on this one and 2 studio at the end. All and all laughs where had, stories shared and some great music played. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!
This is a rare one. Almost a part 2 of their Parkindale Podcast with us. We don't usually drag podcast guests into our adventure show shenanigans. We where just having such a great time with these two we figured we'd let them join the party....or continue the party in this case. After tipping back some (several) Graystone pints we let the music roll. All of us got a chance to discover and share some new music and stories with like minded friends. That's what it's all about.

Tonight we’ve got a special live session with Jaxon Haldane (D. Rangers/F5 Four) who dropped in this week to preview his solo acoustic show going on at The West End Cultural Centre. We’ve also got the usual mix of the new, the notable, and the downright awesome.

Last week was quite a week indeed, with Jon Dee Graham & Mike June stopping in town. While they were here, they were kind enough to drop by UMFM for a chat and some live songs, so we’ve got those for you today. As if that weren’t enough, we’ve got more new music and more upcoming shows!

Today a chat with one of the greats, and one we’re excited to be welcoming back to town this week, Mary Gauthier. She’s headed in to reunite with her frequent backing band, Scott Nolan & Joanna Miller, as well as working on a book and awaiting the release of a new album. Lots to talk about. And following up on last week’s chat with Jaxon Haldane about The Willie P Bennett Legacy Project, we present our annual tribute to the late, great Willie P Bennett, who left this world on Feb. 15, 2008. I didn’t even know the guy, but I miss him terribly. There’s never a bad time to listen to a lot of his brilliant songs, but the anniversary of his death reminds me that I’ll do my best to never let the music be forgotten, and thankfully, folks like Jaxon are taking the cause to a whole new level.

We’re all about the big shows and one big new project today. Previews of some stellar upcoming events, and then a chat with Jaxon Haldane about The Willie P Bennett Legacy Project, which aims to protect and promote the amazing, but under-appreciated legacy of the late, great Willie P Bennett. This is truly a wonderful project, and one that I can’t endorse highly enough. Please check it out: www.willieplegacy.com
