It's a massive discussion today on NOP as we chat about the state of the recently finished Infinity Saga and where the MCU goes from here. Joining me for this huge discussion are Chris Lloyd, DJ Fink, Ricky Galore, Rob Shumate, and Briggs Hatton. We look back at the original Iron Man, and try to determine what critical decision led to the success of this shared multi-verse. We look at the highs and the lows of the 22 movie Infinity Saga. We chat about problematic casting choices, and which films soared and which films sunk. And then we talk about Avengers: Endgame....and whether they stuck the landing or not. We finish out our discussion with "Where does the MCU go from here?" And we also examine what effect these films have had on cinema as a whole. Needless to say, there's a lot to unpack. So stick around and enjoy this lengthy, truly epic discussion on Nerd Outcast Podcast. For the past several years Bit Bash has offered a platform for indy game makers to show their projects in the Chicago area. This week Bill chats with Rob Lach, who curates the games seen at the events to get an idea of how they do it! Plus, Chris Bashen of the Nerd Outcast Podcast joins Bill to chat Star Trek: The Next Generation for Screenwatching along with the games he's played! Screenwatching Star Trek: TNG "The Game": (00:37) Interview w/ Rob Lach (20:36) Games Played (31:23)
Greetings, mortals! We drag back Some Kind of Goblin this year for our sixth horror theme month, HORROR OCTORBOR 666! It's all devil movies all month, baby! To start off, Scott Bufis of The Butter Hours joins us to talk about the crazy late-period Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle End of Days. Ever wanted to see Arnie fight Satan, all while secretly playing a Bruce Willis character? Come see a blue-period Schwarzenegger get gritty as a disgraced, suicidal ex-cop forced to protect a young woman (Robin Tunney) from being impregnated by Satan himself (a hammy Gabriel Byrne) on the eve of the New Millennium. As fun as that sounds, the results are grimmer and duller than you might think. Check out our episode, along with our custom cocktail and drinking game! What happens when one of the biggest filmmakers ever remakes a French goof 'em up with the star of Pumping Iron? Yes, we're finally discussing TRUE LIES, the 1994 James Cameron action comedy that gave us the one tolerable Tom Arnold performance of the 90s! Joining us in the "studio" this week is special guest Chris Bashen (of the Nerd Outcast Podcast and web series The Studio fame!) and we pull out all the stops making him feel welcome. We also spend some time talking about True Lies! We got a little bit of everything this time around: Jon invents a Turing Test inspired by Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Patrick somehow manages to slip in yet another Heaven's Gate reference, Chris explains international space property tax law, we investigate the origins of Bazooka Joe, and we release our sequel to Seal's "Kiss From A Rose." PLUS: the return of Paul Giamatti, who explains how movies are made! This week, we're joined by special guest Chris Bashen of The Nerd Outcast Podcast to discuss the seedy underbelly of our FAVORITE MOVIE SPIES! Surprisingly enough, nobody chose Robert Redford OR Brad Pitt from Spy Game. What kind of world are we living in!? Listen as we cover all the pertinent espionage bases, while somehow skipping over most of the pertinent espionage bases! We speculate on Elton John's role in The Kingsman sequel, Jon chooses a spy from a movie he dislikes, we once again invoke the pleasure and pain of the Cenobites, Patrick and Chris make a date to watch The Kingsman, Mark nails his impression of Halle Berry in Monster's Ball, and we talk about Kingsman so much it's a surprise NONE OF US CHOSE ANY OF THE SPIES FROM IT AS OUR FAVORITE SPIES. Please subscribe via iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher, Google Play or pretty much anywhere fine podcasts are purveyed. Leave us a rating and review, as they are now our primary food source. While we continue to get our full-length radio drama production of Indiana Jones and the Monkey King up (listen to the trailer here!) for the 200th episode, we continue on to 201 with Michael Bay's 1996 explosion-fest The Rock! Featuring Michael Bay's signature excess and kineticism before many people got sick of it, The Rock stars Sean Connery and Nic Cage as an unlikely duo who need to stop a crazed former general (Ed Harris) from gassing San Francisco after holing himself up in the prison island of Alcatraz. Chris Bashen of Nerd Outcast Podcast joins us to ask the hard questions, like: Isn't Ed Harris actually right? Why does this movie get a pass from people who hate Michael Bay? What happened to Park Ranger Bob? Take a listen and check out our custom cocktail and drinking game! (Thanks to our sponsor Lodge Management Group and Wingfest, as part of the Chicago Podcast Coop!)
Dottore interviews Chris Bashen (Nerd Outcast Podcast) about the intricacies of video games. Where did they come from? Why do we play them? And are they simply waking dreams, pyrric victories, if you will? Also - falsetto singing! Rock smashing! And an uncharacteristically voyeuristic Podchamber! This week on Alcohollywood, we (along with Jason Soto of Lair of the Unwanted) finally take on our first Tom Cruise movie with the Ridley Scott fantasy Legend! Right off the heels of Jared’s appearance on the Blade Runner episode of the Nerd Outcast Podcast, we take on another 1980s Ridley Scott movie featuring unicorns and inhuman creatures. This time, though, we get to see a young, buck-toothed Tom Cruise battle a devilish Tim Curry (as literally the Devil) for the soul of his princess lover Mia Sara. Along the way, we get some imps, surprisingly modern goblin henchmen, and Frozen parallels, as we chat it up about our favorite movie Satans, find even more euphemistic uses for the word ‘magic,’ and so much more. Check out our custom cocktail and drinking game below, and be sure to listen to (and share) the episode!

For the month of May, we’re kicking off Video Game Movie Month, where every week we take on a new film adaptation of a video game! To get us started, Chris from the Nerd Outcast Podcast joins us for Paul WS Anderson’s debut feature, Mortal Kombat, based on the bloody fighting game of the same name! Telling the tale of three warriors forced to enter a martial arts tournament that will decide the fate of the world, this film is cheesy as hell. However, it goes about its business in a recklessly charming way that allows it to overcome its many faults. Throw in some wonderfully campy performances and some competent fight choreography, and you have a surprisingly solid video game movie. Test your liver’s might with our custom cocktail and drinking rules!
