QUE SERA, SERA, What will be, will be, is what they say. However, what I say is that finally, Episode 122 of Pop Art is now up. Yes, Pop Art, the podcast where we find the pop culture in art and the art in pop culture. So get out those second amendment rights, as Jason Soto of the Rabbit Hole Podcasts and I discuss Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase in Foul Play and Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day in Hitchcock's remake of his own film The Man Who Knew Too Much, two movies about ordinary people woh get swept up in an assassination plot. As a side note, I could use a lot more followers and reviews. So give a guy a break and rhapsodize poetic while talking about how much you love what I have to say. Jason and I especially had a great discussion on paranoia and conspiracy in films, comparing the two versions of the Hitchcock film, and praising Dudley Moore's breakout performance. Also check out the Rabbit Hole Podcast at https://rabbitholepodcasts.com/author/whateverjasonsoto/ It is a virtual treasure trove of goodies to listen to when it comes to pop culture. For our fifty-first episode, podcast emperor Jason Soto (Rabbit Hole Podcasts) joins the show for a discussion of the original Chuck with whom you won't want to f**k: 1988's “Child's Play”, as told through series creator Don Mancini's commentary. Does this franchise deserve to be seven films deep? Just how integral to its success is Brad Dourif? How did they make the leap to television? There's a lot to address and we do our best.Ryan's Recommendations: “Psycho II” (1983), “Fright Night” (1985), and “The Lego Movie” (2014)For exclusive bonus content and early releases of every episode, join our Patreon and become an Official Minder: http://www.patreon.com/onetrackmindpodcastTheme Music by: Bildschirm (bildschirm.bandcamp.com). HAPPY HALLOWEEN NEW EPISODE: POP ART 110 says CURSES, FOILED AGAIN: Join me and my annual Halloween guest Lisa Leaheey as we talk The Ring and Curse of the Demon. “Seven days.” Don't you hate when this happens? You're going about your day. Minding your own business. You watch a video and the phone rings telling you, you only have seven days to live. Or, someone secretly passes you a curse in runes giving you only a certain amount of time before you die. It is just so annoying…Sounds like it's time for Episode 110 of Pop Art, where we find the pop culture in art and the art in pop culture. It's the podcast where my guest chooses a movie from popular culture, and I'll select a film from the more art/classic/indie/foreign side of cinema with a connection to it. And this episode is my yearly Halloween one. For this episode, I am happy to welcome back film lover and horror enthusiast, and my annual guest for my Halloween episode, Lisa Leaheey, who has chosen as her film the American remake of the Japanese horror film The Ring, while I have chosen Jacques Tournier's Night of the Demon, both films about an object that if passed to someone only gives that person a certain amount of time to live. And in this episode, we answer such questions as: Which is better, suggesting a monster or showing it? What are the differences between the Japanese and American version of The Ring? What is the difference between the English and American release of Night of the Demon? What was the original ending to The Ring and what happened to it? Why is Night of the Demon called Curse of the Demon in the US? What did screenwriter Charles Bennett say he would do to the producer of Night of the Demon if he saw him in his driveway? Where do The film The Burbs, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Rear Window fit in? What does the name Samara reference? Check out Lisa's podcasting at The Rabbit Hole Podcast, including the new Rabbit Hole Book Club section https://rabbitholepodcasts.com/pictures-and-conversations/ And Lisa and Jason Soto's podcast Between the Scares where they are covering every Blumhouse film https://rabbitholepodcasts.com/between-the-scares/ Check out my blog at https://howardcasner.wordpress.com/ My books, More Rantings and Ravings of a Screenplay Reader, The Starving Artists and Other Stories and The Five Corporations and One True Religion can be found at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=howard+casner&ref=nb_sb_noss Be sure to like, follow or comment on my podcast. Seath Jackson, a 15-year-old, was lured to the end of his life by his ex-girlfriend, 15-year-old Amber Wright. Four teenagers waited for Seath to show up, and when Seath arrived, the group of teens brutalized Seath until he expired. This tragic story occurred in Summerfield, Florida, on April 17, 2011. All of the people responsible for his death were convicted of the crime. Amber Wright, her big brother, 16-year-old Kyle Hooper, 18-year-old Mark Bargo, 20-year-old Jason Soto, and 19-year-old Charlie Ely were all apprehended by investigators and ultimately convicted of the loss of Seath's life. ATTENTION STEPDADS: If you are struggling with your relationship with your step child, or you have trouble with their dad, you need to read every single word. Being in a relationship has its own challenges. Add in other people's exes and children and the challenge sometimes feels impossible. There is no roadmap to being a dad and we all know too well that being a man isn't enough to be called a Dad. I am not going to reinvent the wheel and learn what it's like to be a dad on my own, so I'm constantly reaching out to other fathers. However, when I come across a father I'm thinking about connecting with and learning from, I ask myself: "Are they a good example of the kind of fatherI want to be?" When it comes to Jason Soto, the answer to that question is an automatic YES. I invited Jay onto the podcast again because I wanted him to specifically share his experience as a stepdad. Today you'll find out: -How he approaches his relationship with his (step) daughter's biological father -How he meets his daughter where she's at and parents her from that place -What he does when his daughter is missing her biological dad -And much much more If you have any questions, anything you'd like me to pass on to the dads who've been interviewed, or if you're a dad who would like to be on here, send me an email to AndresLifeCoach@gmail.com.
We were unable to record a new episode this week but I wanted to give you all something. So here, on it's own little episode, is the best of clips from 2021. We hope you enjoy and we'll see you next week! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Did you become a dad at 18? Have you tried to provide for your kids through selling drugs or stealing cars? Do you struggle to find a role model of what a good dad looks like? If you answered yes to any of the above, I'd like to introduce you to a man who was in a similar spot as you, Jason Soto. Jason is a man with more life experience than most people that I know, and today he talks about: -His challenges with becoming a father at 18 years old -What raising 5 kids across 20 years has taught him -Being a stepfather to his girlfriend's daughter since she was 4 years old -And so much more!! In the short amount of time that I've met him, Jason has taken a special place in my life and I'm really excited for what you're going to get out of his experience. If you have any questions, anything you'd like me to pass on to the dads who've been interviewed, or if you're a dad who would like to be on here, send me an email to AndresLifeCoach@gmail.com.

Jay returns after a holiday, but continues to take it easy as Jason Soto, winner of the Movie of the Month hosts the discussion of Host (irony?)Host will be both the most recent film to be a movie of the month winner but also the shortest movie of the month.
