Jeffry Hannah weighed 315 lbs when he graduated high school. Then he spent the next nine years trying to lose it.He tried keto. Carnivore. Paleo. He even tried what he calls the "hospital food diet" — canned everything. Some of the diets worked for a bit, but nothing stuck because nothing felt like a sustainable lifestyle. And while he was trying to fix his body, Jeff felt like his mind was falling apart. He hit rock bottom mentally, lost the ability to mask his autism and ADHD, and spent about two years struggling with suicidal thoughts.Imagine this: Seven medications a day, and still not feeling okay. The thing that eventually changed Jeff's relationship with food wasn't another diet. It was finding out that people with ADHD and autism burn through vitamins and minerals faster than the average person — and that what he'd been eating was making his mental health worse, not just his weight. He landed on a modified Mediterranean approach.More grains, beans, lentils, vegetables he didn't really want to eat, fatty fish a couple times a week. Plus some Little Debbie's double decker fudge rounds, because he's still a person.Today, Jeff is off all seven medications. Then, halfway through our conversation, Jeff and I did something different. We ranked squat variations — every major quad exercise — from S tier to F tier.Back squat, front squat, Zercher, goblet, hack squat, Smith machine, safety squat bar, leg press, pendulum squat — all of it.We disagreed on a bunch of them.Because the thing about ranking exercises is that the same one can be S tier for one person and C tier for someone else. It depends on your body, your strength, and what you can actually feel. Here's the rule I use: if you can't get to failure on a quad exercise in under 20 reps, it's probably not building your legs. It's cardio. In this episode, we get into:How Jeffry went from 315 lbs to off his meds entirelyThe link between ADHD, autism, and how fast you burn through nutrientsWhy keto and carnivore "worked" but didn't actually fix anythingHis modified Mediterranean diet (Little Debbie's included)Why beans + a grain beats expensive protein every timeThe 9 years he wasted listening to influencers instead of the scienceMechanical tension vs. time under tension — what actually builds muscleWhy the stretched position is where most of the growth happensRest-pause sets and the time I wrecked my hamstrings for daysWhy the hack squat is undefeatedThe Zercher debate — practical strength or unnecessary?Find Jeffry on Instagram: @geek_body__nutrition_417

ITL with John Lopez, Figgy, and Luke Mauro filling in for Reggie Adetula reacts to the latest Eastern Conference Finals action between the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers, with Lopez explaining why he has become a huge fan of Josh Hart and what makes certain players impossible not to appreciate. The guys also debate concerns surrounding the Houston Texans defensive line after comments from Rod Wright on Texans All Access sparked questions about expectations for the unit. Around The NFL features discussion on Matthew Stafford landing another major contract extension and what it means for the quarterback market, while Brandon Scott joins the show to explain why he is especially excited about Houston's rookie class and which newcomers could make an immediate impact. Luke Mauro also raises a bigger-picture concern about the Houston Astros, arguing that the franchise's incredible eight-year run may have been a rare outlier that fans should not expect to see repeated. The crew debates whether Houston's dynasty permanently changed expectations or if fans need to reset what success looks like. Lunch-Time Confessions takes a turn when Lopez admits he does not think Luke's nickname works, leading to another hilarious debate. ITL also settles one of the most important issues facing society today: Little Debbie versus Hostess, using actual data to determine a winner. The show wraps up by grading the best and worst offseason moves made by the AFC South, including the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans, before Figgy's Mixtape dives into bizarre local news interviews, movie clichés that never happen in real life, and more internet chaos. In this two-parter, we start with Detroit's birds and end with Detroiters eating dessert. Science and snacks, basically. First up, we talk with University of Michigan alum and Defenders of Wildlife science and policy analyst Natalie Madden about a new meta-analysis on how urban noise affects birds. They get into what a "study of studies" actually is, why everyday city sounds can mess with bird communication, nesting, growth and reproduction, and what planners and policymakers can do to turn down the volume so common species like robins and sparrows can actually thrive in metro Detroit. Then we head back to the studio for a taste test: producer Shianne Nocerini and Big Lucci Marcon join me at the table to try Hudsonville's new Little Debbie-inspired ice cream sandwiches — Cosmic Brownie and Oatmeal Cream Pie. They rate, debate and rank which one deserves freezer space, with plenty of sugar, carbs and opinions along the way. This episode of The JB and Sandy Show is a cozy, quirky family affair, as Sandy, Tricia, and their daughter “The Fuzz” gather around the mic to share snow day rituals, generational quirks, and a spirited debate about the future of Groundhog Day. The Fuzz introduces the concept of a “Sunday reset”—tidying up, prepping for the week, and enjoying the rare luxury of a Monday off school. “I just felt nasty… I'd been laying in my bed, playing Minecraft and eating Little Debbies. But I had enough of it!”

This Week on The Wednesday Dose of Dopey!Dave kicks off this Wednesday Dose solo from his dad's house, riffing on nostalgic broke-addict snacks (Little Debbie oatmeal pies as cheap highs) and weird fridge finds, before diving into fan Spotify comments praising last week's emotional Erin Khar episode. He shares wild Miles Davis coke-paranoia excerpts from the autobiography (Ferrari abandonment, trash-room hiding, dealer tricks), and recommending Kind of Blue and In a Silent Way as sick sick records! Then we welcome Sandra Vergara (Selling Sunset star, Sofia Vergara's cousin/sister-figure). Sandra opens up about a traumatic Colombian childhood: brother's murder at age 9, raised by an aunt after her bio-mom's brain damage left her mentally stuck at 12, feeling like a "burden," early glue-sniffing experiment, near-fatal ruptured appendix/septic shock at 16, and constant walking-on-eggshells survival via art, empathy, and never taking abuse personally. In LA from 18, she dabbled in makeup/acting (Fright Night), when she began drinking heavy. ===== MDJ Script/ Top Stories for November 14th Publish Date:  November 14th    Commercial: From the BG AD Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast.    Today is Friday, November 14th and Happy Birthday to Alec John Such I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Times Journal GHC has highest enrollment growth among state colleges Cobb Sheriff’s Lt. Col. Dewayne Morris laid to rest after lifetime of public service Cobb’s proposed stormwater fee receives mild criticism Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on pesticides All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe!  BREAK: MATCH MAGIC GIVEATHON STORY 1: GHC has highest enrollment growth among state colleges  Georgia Highlands College is on a roll. Over the past three years, enrollment has jumped 23%, now nearing 6,000 students—a record-breaking pace that’s earned GHC top honors from the USG Board of Regents for the fastest growth among state colleges. “This growth shows how deeply connected we are to the communities we serve,” said President Mike Hobbs. “As Northwest Georgia grows, we’re here to prepare graduates for meaningful careers and help businesses thrive.” Statewide, the University System of Georgia hit an all-time high this fall with 382,142 students, driven by a surge in in-state enrollment. Ready to join? Apply by January at apply.highlands.edu. STORY 2: Cobb Sheriff’s Lt. Col. Dewayne Morris laid to rest after lifetime of public service  Dewayne Morris, a man who lived and breathed public service, was laid to rest Tuesday after passing on Nov. 7 at the age of 63. A lieutenant colonel with the Cobb Sheriff’s Office and a retired sergeant from Cobb County Police, Morris dedicated his life to law enforcement. From his early days at Powder Springs PD to his decades with Cobb Police—where he earned two Meritorious Service medals—he was known for his leadership, grit, and heart. But Dewayne wasn’t just a cop. He loved fast cars, Diet Mountain Dew, Little Debbies, and cheering for the Braves and Hawks. He never met a stranger. A true hero. STORY 3: Cobb’s proposed stormwater fee receives mild criticism  Cobb County’s proposed $4.75 monthly stormwater fee is back on the table, but this time, the backlash is quieter—at least for now. Last year, the idea sparked packed meetings and fiery opposition. This week? A handful of speakers, mostly supportive or cautiously critical. The fee would nearly double the stormwater budget, funding overdue repairs, new equipment, and even regional detention projects. Homeowners would pay $4.75 a month, while businesses, churches, and schools would be charged based on impervious surfaces. Critics still call it a “tax,” and some HOAs argue they’re being double-billed. A final vote is set for Nov. 20. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: STRAND THEATRE STORY 4: Peer-led mental health center coming to Marietta’s First Presbyterian A new drop-in mental health center is set to open at First Presbyterian Church near Marietta Square, offering something rare: a space for connection, not just treatment. Run by NAMI Cobb, the center will focus on peer-led therapy—think group activities, coffee chats, and one-on-one support with trained specialists who’ve been there. “It’s about community,” said Neill Blake, NAMI Cobb’s programs director. “Sometimes, just coffee and conversation can be life-changing.” Opening early next year, the free center will feature art therapy, games, meditation, and more. For those battling isolation, it’s a lifeline. “Loneliness makes everything worse,” Blake added. “This could save lives.” STORY 5: OUT AND ABOUT: 5 things to do this weekend in Cobb County — Nov. 14 - 16 Atlanta Opera: ‘La Traviata’ This weekend’s your last chance to catch Verdi’s La Traviata at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
