I took a break from my every-other-week break with our newborn to have a conversation with one of the smartest people I know, Robbie Evans, a strategic director at a medical diagnostics company in Silicon Valley. He put together a Google Doc (linked below -- read first if you can) about some real and scary possibilities and likely projections for the US and COVID-19. This is not a time for (arbitrary) theological platitudes and claims about God and global diseases; rather, it is a time for a science-informed faith that helps us to best love our neighbors as ourselves. In this passage we examine Paul's Posture, Paul's Prayer and God's Power. Paul's prayer is that the church would be strengthened by the Spirit, Christ would be at home in their hearts, they would understand His deep love for them, and they would experience the fullness of God. These things are possible in and through His power working in us.

Robbie Evans, a Missionary to Mexico, preaches on Acts 1, describing that we live in an epic called “The Day of Salvation”. In Acts 1, the disciples wanted to know when the Kingdom of Israel would be restored, but instead of answering their question, Jesus adjusted their hearts so that they’d prioritize being witnesses in the current age. The power of God, given by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, enables believers to be Jesus’ witnesses until He returns. Robbie encourages the Church to ask God for a fresh outpouring of the power and fullness of Holy Spirit.
