He joins Bad Faith to discuss Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, which is being heralded as one of the best films of the year. But while it's being read as positive depiction of left revolutionaries, Brie has never felt a bigger urge to walk out of a theatre than she did in the first 30 minutes of this movie. Is the film a misogynoir-filled anti-left psyop? A fun action caper? Both? But first, Van and Brie discuss the spate of right-leaning podcasters expressing regret about boosting Trump, what it means to have "a politics," and how to contend with the establishment's commitment to "voting blue no matter who" and blaming third parties for the Democrats' failures. How is it that Trump seems to have infinite power when Biden, during his trifecta, had none? Did Trump really just do what we were told is impossible: overrule the parliamentarian? Why are Democrats making this a fight about healthcare rather than the fact that the GOP has already effectively shut down the government through their DOGE activities? As Matt argues, oligarchic control over the media is impossible without media consolidation, and the Jimmy Kimmel cancelation fiasco is in some ways secondary to the bigger problem of an undiversified media ecosystem. Bedoya, who is also the founding director of the Center on Privacy and Technology at Georgetown University Law Center, broadens the conversation into one about the founding fathers' original conception of the corporation, and the need to impose limits due to its fundamentally anti-democratic potential. In this eye-opening investigation into the most remarkable points on the map, a single boundary might, upon closer inspection, reveal eons of history—from epic tales of conquest, treaties, and alliances to intimate, all-too-human stories of love, greed, and folly. Sometimes rooted in physical geography, sometimes entirely arbitrary, none of the lines we know today were inevitable, and all might have looked quite different if not for the intricate interplay of chance and ambition. By listening to the stories these borders have to tell, we can learn how political identities are shaped, why the world's boundaries look the way they do—and what they tell us about our world and ourselves. From the very first maps in Egypt to the Roman attempts to define the boundaries of civilization, from the profound shift in meaning of the Mason–Dixon line to the secret British-French agreement to carve up the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, and from the dark consequences of Detroit's city limits to the intriguing reason why landlocked Bolivia still maintains a navy, this is a singular look at human history—told through its most spellbinding border stories. Subscribe to Bad Faith on Patreon to instantly unlock our full premium episode library: http://patreon.com/badfaithpodcast This week, Briahna interviews Matt Taibbi about a narrow concern she's had with the Twitter Files archive: Despite the obvious value that Matt and other twitter files reporters have created by exposing links between the intelligence agencies and online censorship, is it fair to characterize Twitter's bias as against the right and indifferent to the left given how little we know about which documents have been turned over by Elon Musk and why?  Unlike Musk, most whistleblowers are not the heads of the organizations they're informing on. Does Musk's investment in and control over Twitter demand more journalistic scrutiny? Is it possible to characterize the files reviewed so far without making broader claims about about the total archive that, at this point, can't be substantiated? Has there been sufficient inquiry into bias against the left, and has their been sufficient disclosure about the limitations Musk has put on the journalists who've been given access to the archive? It's a difficult and nuanced discussion. Subscribe to Bad Faith on YouTube for video of this episode. Find Bad Faith on Twitter (@badfaithpod) and Instagram (@badfaithpod). Produced by Armand Aviram. Ezra Klein wrote in The New York Times that Kirk was "practicing politics the right way." Rachel Cohen wrote in Vox that she was "sitting shiva" for a man she described as saying "blatantly antisemitic things," and Ben Burgis offered that at least Kirk "didn't descend into personal attacks." Briahna, who also debated Kirk, felt differently. She discusses the hagiography of Charlie Kirk with journalist Zaid Jilani and whether the left is troublingly indifferent to anti-Black racism if delivered "politely." Note that this episode was supposed to include a lengthy conversation about Matt Taibbi's refusal to cover censorship by right-leaning institutions, but, alas, the conversation didn't get that far. Smalls explains how he and the one Arab member of the flotilla were treated differently from his fellow crew members, how he was assaulted & strip searched, and how he was abandoned by the US embassy (in contrast to how other governments supported their nationals). Moreover, he dives deep into his betrayal by labor leadership and leftists leaders like Bernie Sanders and AOC who remain silent on Small's capture and assault to date. Chris reveals plans to develop a new labor party that cannot be ignored by Dem-captured labor leadership, the need to leave the Democratic Party "plantation," and why he won't be supporting an AOC 2028 run.  Subscribe to Bad Faith on YouTube for video of this episode. Robinson returns to Bad Faith along with CA associate editor Alex Skopic to discuss the buzz around the new Substack "magazine" The Argument, which makes the case that "liberalism deserves better." This collection of former Atlantic and Vox journalists (including Derek Thompson and Matt Yglasias) has $4 million in backing, has launched with a piece against cash payments to the poor, and is led by a woman who earlier this year famously wrote the case for Democrats to support DOGE. Nathan and Alex weigh in on the battle independent journalism like Current Affairs is waging against well-funded, billionaire-backed media, and whether outlets like The Argument will successfully launder a Newsom 2028 candidacy to the left -- even though Gaza has emerged as a litmus test that has already tripped up Mayor Pete. Why are liberals so damn gullible, why is the left always right before the libs, and why are conservatives so much better at ideological consistency when compared to the empty, superficial takes coming out of liberals? We discuss Zach Beauchamp's latest piece on that very question ("How conservatives help their young thinkers — and why liberals don't"), along with Alex's "The Left is Always Right Too Early," and CA's takedown of Gavin Newsom. One of the most exciting things about the idea of discussing Fascism in Cinema is how fluidly the ideas of authoritarianism have been adapted, and sometimes skewered, by filmmakers over the years. In the third episode of this series, we are looking at films that look at matters of faith, and how corrupted they can be by mankind. Since we are discussing religion, it would be wrong to have any other guest but return guest Stuart Delony from Snarky Faith. Listen as we discuss the state of religion in both the US, and the world, through the lens of Carl Theodor Dreyer's "The Passion of Joan of Arc", Monty Python's "Life of Brian", and Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood". The jiu-jitsu club had a $1 million insurance policy, but when an instructor accidentally rendered a new student an incomplete quadriplegic, the carrier put its interest above their own insured's – and paid the price. Rahul Ravipudi, who represented the victim, updates co-host Ben Gideon on the groundbreaking case. After the defendants refused to pay the policy limit, the case went to trial, and a jury awarded Rahul's client $46 million. The defendants appealed, the judgment was affirmed, and most recently, the California Supreme Court denied the defendant's request to review the verdict – which has increased to $56 million with interest. Rahul imagines the defense counsel and insurance adjusters discussing how many times they've had to actually pay the policy limit on such a case: “So, look like the hero, and save your insurance company $250,500,000. It's that ‘penny-wise/pound foolish.'”Learn More and Connect☑️ Ben Gideon | LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram☑️ Gideon Asen on LinkedIn | Facebook | YouTube | Instagram☑️ Rahul Ravipudi | LinkedIn | Instagram☑️ Panish Shea Ravipudi LLP on LinkedIn | Facebook | YouTube | Instagram☑️ Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify Produced and Powered by LawPodsSponsored by SmartAdvocate, Hype Legal, Expert Institute, Filevine, and Steno.

But the project was ill-fated from its inception. A good faith commitment to feeding Gazans would been leaving the U.N. Relief and Works Agency intact. Four hundred distribution sites under UNRWA became just four under GHF's control, and Palestinian corpses accumulated at distribution sites as contractors shot at crowds and distributed meagre meals to a starving population. Meanwhile, contractors being paid $1200 per day slept in luxury across the border in Israel, while they ordered Domino's Pizza to feed Palestinian staffers that had not been provided for. In his shocking testimony, Aguilar blows the whistle on offenses more egregious than you can imagine. Subscribe to Bad Faith on YouTube for video of this episode. And yet, as Dr. Brian Kwoba argues, Harrison has largely been erased from contemporary memory because he consistently challenged orthodoxy within both socialist and Black liberation circles, pressuring the Socialist Party to attend to the specific needs of America's most proletarian group -- Black Americans -- and scrapping with W. E. B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey over their reformist and imperialist turns, respectively. Harrison and his erasure provide a stunning example of what happens to leftist figures who are not so easily sanitized, and Kwoba's book Hubert Harrison: Forbidden Genius of Black Radicalism reveals a history that we are regrettably reliving today. This episode addresses how to break the cycle of the endless "race first vs. class first" debate, Harrison's heterodox views on sex and non-monogamy, & more.
