This weekend Ryan ran the Melbourne Marathon. In this episode we hear from him in the lead-up to the marathon and then how he felt after doing the marathon. We find out if he actually completed the marathon and if a pizza and a parma are legitimate marathon foods. We also find out: How much training he did and if it meant stopping other activities (or life)? Whether this inspired him to run marathons in other locations or was it just a bucket list item ticked off (one and done). If he felt like giving up at any point. What did he think bout or do while he ran. What food and/or drink he had while he ran. We are pretty proud of him and him ticking another item of his Bucket List here at Daddy Eats last so have a listen to the pre-race and post-race Ryan Ebert. REMEMBER: If you have any suggestions for topics please send through to team@daddyeatslast.com and we will be sure to include them. +++++++ Is the modern man a hunter or a gentleman? A manual labourer or a technophile? In today's culture the modern man usually is a mix of many things. The modern man must be adaptable. Gender roles are changing and blending together and the stay-at-home dad or part time dad population is growing. More fathers than ever are participating in their children's nurturing and upbringing. The thing is that fathers and mothers come into the parenting process differently though. For the mother, the connection is biological. It's a part of her. Fathering, on the other hand, is less so. Therefore, it's important for men to learn the skills they need to be a good dad. For some guys it's more intuitive, like kicking a football, but most guys need a coach or some direction. DADDY EATS LAST discusses what it means to be a man and a father in modern society and all the issues that comes with both.

Moving overseas and the weight of expectations with Ryan Ebert

Our truth is more beautiful than the things we feel we need to hide.   Disclaimer and trigger warning: What we talk about on In My Truth tends to be very raw and can be triggering. Resources for support and help are included at the end of show notes - scroll down for more information.    Thank you for joining us in this episode of In My Truth, where serial entrepreneur and truth seeker Sarah Riegelhuth is excited to speak to her friend Ryan Ebert and dive into his current untruths.   Ryan Ebert is a Melbourne-based entrepreneur in the health care space. Ryan sold a business last year and is currently working on another startup. He’s also a sports fanatic and Melbourne coffee drinker!   At the moment, Ryan is grappling with expectations, from others and from himself, and something that not many people know: setting up for an overseas move. Ryan has been holding this secret of not being in Australia at the end of the year, and is working through the weight of the expectations around his next moves.   Ryan is also questioning whether he wants to stay in the health industry and how it shapes his identity, the ‘shoulds’ around his involvement in healthcare, and what he wants out of his ideal work role and how that aligns with his purpose.   Some other beliefs and stories uncovered in this episode include: sharing our personal stories and untruths with stakeholders fear of shaking up our identity capital and credibility differentiating between opportunities we want and opportunities others want for us wrangling with our truths resistance to change measures of success and levels of freedom logic vs passion, joy and happiness the weight of being outside of alignment rhetoric around opening up and not opening up about our truth feelings around people judging and questioning the ways that we live compromising on lifestyle based on other people’s judgement letting go, grieving and making space for who we are limiting Instagram labels   Remember you’re not alone, and there is hope, even though it may not feel that way at times. Talk to someone, a friend or family member and let them support you. Reach out to a professional. Do whatever you need to do to start your journey back to feeling good. Here are some resources I found on Google (because I am not a professional, these are not recommendations, just suggestions with love and empathy from me to you): Lifeline (Australia): 13-11-14 is a confidential telephone crisis support service available 24/7 from a landline, payphone or mobile. Beyond Blue (Australia): 1-300-22-4636 OR chat online between 3pm & 12am 7 days a week No Shame On You (USA): 1-800-273-(TALK) 8255 OR text 741741 for a 24/7 crisis text line (a live, trained crisis counsellor receives the text and responds quickly) OR visit I’m Alive for 24/7 online crisis chat National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (USA): 1-800-273-8255  Crisis Services (Canada): 1-833-456-4566 OR text 45645 between 4pm and 12am daily   To never miss an episode, subscribe to In My Truth with Sarah Riegelhuth, and if you’re enjoying the podcast, we’d greatly appreciate your review and if you could please share the episode with your tribe.   If you’d like to be a guest on the show, find out more here: https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/inmytruthpodcast   Follow Sarah on Instagram: @sarahriegelhuth @inmytruthpodcast
