In September 2003, 17-year-old Shafilea Ahmed vanished from her home in Warrington, Cheshire, leaving behind a worrying trail of unanswered questions. A bright and ambitious student, she had dreams of independence, but those dreams clashed with the expectations placed upon her by her family. For years, her disappearance remained a mystery, until a shocking revelation finally exposed the horrifying truth. What really happened to Shafilea that night? And why did it take nearly a decade for justice to be served?By covering Shafilea's story, I hope to raise awareness of the devastating reality of so-called "honour-based" abuse and the urgent need to challenge it. It's episode 13! And we all know that 13 isn't the most… lucky number out there. We talk about skincare woes (and how the 10-step skincare trend could have been a capitalistic ploy all along) as well as social media fatigue. Anyone else feel like they want to tune social media out entirely? Us too. This week Chris covers the horrific and heartbreaking honour killing of Shafilea Ahmed from Warrington, United Kingdom. There are over 5000 honour killings a year. Honda then goes on to scare us with the story of an Indonesian ghost: the Pocong. Beware of any unknown bouncy sounds guys, you never know what it is. After all, killers and spirits are just things… Hidden Among Us.

Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Shafilea Ahmed was the victim of an honour killing in which her parents had murdered her as a result of being 'too westernised', she was violently abused mentally and physically, she was drugged and sent to Pakistan to be married to a cousin much older than her, this led her to drink bleach as a result of desperation to not marry this man, she was isolated, lost and terrified, her parents had thought that she was bringing too much shame on the family which ultimately resulted in her death, she was killed for desiring the very basic things that many of us take for granted.

Shafilea Ahmed was like most teenage girls growing up in the UK. She was determined and ambitious with a rebellious streak. She got good grades in school, wanted to wear the latest fashion, to have a boyfriend and to break free from her family home and live independently. The difference between Shafilea and most teenage girls is that she was born in to, and brought up around one culture, but, was expected to abide by the rules of another. What would typically be seen as normal teenage behaviour was seen as shameful by her strict parents. Shafilea resisted her parents demands, she knew that she would be forced into an arranged marriage to an older cousin and wanted a different life for herself.  The shame her parents felt she brought on the family name was intense and this continuously took precedence over their daughter's well-being, happiness and ultimately, her life. Both cases are fairly similar this week, and there may be some soap boxing and also a quick cameo from a soap star that neither Holly or Gemma know. Holly hopes that science can solve their shared curiosity about possible bodies in the Thames and also talk body language experts. Recording and post production completed by the honourable Craig, when he is not being a great producer he is trying to sneak some sweets from Holly and Gemma’s gifted stash. Editing completed by Gemma, with a glass of wine at hand and an automatic foot massager, it was an enjoyable time. www.whichmurderer.comWARNING - Explicit language, content and themes (plus whatever else will cover us legally)Recorded in a secret location somewhere in Scotland
