We had some major storms and flooding around our latest tour into western Montana, which leads us into discussion of the massive pro-glacial lakes, and other giant temporary lakes in the Southwest US, and the ubiquity of catastrophic evidence across the continent. Then RC introduces a few of the major contributors to early writings about climate and global change, who keyed into awareness of migrations, commingled species, climate oscillations and abrupt shifts, and the natural variability. Examples of Little Ice Age glaciers' extent and recent retreat are put into perspective, as the Sun is identified as the principal source of melting energy… Kosmographia Ep086 The Randall Carlson Podcast with Brothers of the Serpent – Kyle and Russ, Normal Guy Mike, and GeocosmicREX admin Bradley, from 6/27/22. Do people deserve 2nd chances? Jesus gives plenty. What about convicted felons? Our guest this week is attorney and mom of 3 who created a non-profit called “Second Chance” – which she talks about, plus blending faith and fitness in her busy life, opening up on the “Run The Race” podcast, which we hope you subscribe to (if not, do that now). After an intro of Jennifer Dunlap, (2:19) she talks about why she started Second Chance Criminal Record Relief, based in Columbus GA along with her law office Dunlap & Lakes, PC. Seeing no remedy for first offenders trying to get their rights back, she and her organization are trying to fill the gap. These are people who've already done their punishment and want to move forward to be productive taxpayers. The goal: give hope to people that feel judged. (11:05) She sees “Second Chance” as a ministry, a non-profit that started with what she calls a “miracle” after 18 months of praying and fasting. Now, they've helped nearly 200 convicted felons get their lives back, as voters and more, as people that are no longer convicts or outsiders that are discriminated against by employers. Knowledge is power and you have to know your history - which may have mistakes – to eliminate barriers. (20:55) How does faith play a role in that non-profit and her law job? She sees this as doing God's work. Jennifer's faith is also vital as a mother of 3 boys, which it takes a village to do, as she owns her own business. That business includes criminal histories that sometimes can or cannot be changed. (29:55) Think about the kind of people Jesus hung out with. Her clients at Second Chance feel compelled to confess to her, and have a timeframe to stay out of trouble after misdemeanors. Jennifer is someone people look up to, (34:42) representing women and African-Americans who want to achieve and help others. She has opportunities to speak to groups of girls, while balancing the roles of busy attorney and having 3 sons at home. (40:09) That balance includes fitness, which was modeled for decades by her amazing parents. How does she find time to exercise 3-4 times every week? (48:54) My “parting gift” inspiration is some Biblical wisdom on 2nd chances, then my closing prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. For more info, go to www.wtvm.com/podcast/.

River Suir angler George McGrath got in touch about an issue that has energised him and many of you in the Irish fly fishing community in recent weeks in relation to weed growth in Irish rivers and lakes that has been as bad in living memory. So, what's going on? Who's responsible and more importantly, what can be done about it? George McGrath joins us to tell us what he has seen and fisheries scientist, Ken Whelan, gives his scientific explanation as to what is most likely the reason, plus who to contact and what pro-active measures can be taken to ensure that this problem does not go unaddressed. If you have seen similar weed growth and conditions that George McGrath has described, then get in touch with LAWaters.ie to start the investigation. Keep up to date on IrelandontheFly.com as well as on Instagram.com/IrelandontheFly.
Welcome to episode 31 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another motorsport roundup of the events from the past week! First and foremost, not even motorsport related, but huge congratulations to the Lionesses, the England Ladies football team for winning the 2022 Euros!! The boys cover the breaking news that Fernando Alonso is moving to Aston Martin. The biggest motorsport events were in Hungary and at Indianapolis and last week we debated which would be the more entertaining racing to watch and … Hungary was where it was all at! F1 saw another sensation and devastating Ferrari meltdown, where both Ferrari drivers failed to get on the podium after being so strong pre-race and all weekend. Should the Ferrari strategist leave? Is it finally time? Speaking of leaving, it's farewell to Sebastian Vettel who is retiring after an illustrious career in Formula 1. We wish him the very best. Lots of excitement in F2, F3 and W Series - where Jamie Chadwick failed to make it 8 wins in a row! In the USA, there was quite a processional Indycar, and a crazy NASCAR. Elsewhere in Europe, Spa 24 Hours brings victory to Mercedes and a brilliant class win for four very fast ladies. Back home, in the BTCC at Knockhill you had to either have a BMW or be Ash Sutton to have any chance of winning! While there was a home win in London for Formula E. And the main bike meeting saw Toprak Razgatlıoğlu come out top of the WSB at Most in Czech republic. Next week: Formula 1 starts their summer break, WRC heads the billing with the 1000 Lakes rally in Finland, while Britain welcomes the MotoGP world to Silverstone. Indycar and NASCAR head back to the ovals with races at Nashville and Michigan.
Our guests today were Jon Aga, Executive Director of Lakes Area United Way, and Jana Shogren, Executive Director of Bridges of Hope.

Pro fisherman Steve Carney make his weekly appearance on Sports Weekend with Steve Thomson.
This week, my guest is captain Drew Price [56:13], an expert on fishing large, multi-story, multi-species lakes. Drew has pioneered methods of catching unusual and fascinating freshwater fish like bowfin, gar, and freshwater drum. He also loves to fish for trout, bass, and carp but there are days on his home water, Lake Champlain, when those popular fish may not cooperate. And it's fun to fill your life list with new species, some of which may live in your own back yard. If you're looking for a new challenge, want to escape summer's crowded trout rivers--or if your rivers are too warm--learn about how you can fish large lakes for all kinds of cool fish. In the Fly Box this week, we have lots of thought-provoking questions, including: What should I pack for my trip to Alaska, and how should I pack my waders? Why did they use heaver stuff, like size 8 wet flies and 3X leaders, back in the 1930s through 1950s? Why am I missing brown and rainbow trout striking my leech pattern? Why am I missing small cutthroat trout on my dry flies? I see large brown trout very close to me in a heavily fished river, but they won't take any of my flies. Are they spooked? Tips from a listener on how to store rods and other tackle Why do some rods not have hook keepers? What fishing fiction do you recommend, beyond Big Two-Hearted River and A River Runs through It? For fishing hopper patterns, should I go long and fine or short and heavy with my leader? I caught some big rainbow trout but also saw some huge suckers in the same river. How can I catch those suckers on a fly? Where is the best place to set down your rod and reel when switching flies or leaders? If I see some debris on my nymph, should I clean it off? How does the hard-sided Orvis stripping basket compare to collapsible mesh versions? When I release trout, should I try to feed them mealworms or something to make up for them losing a meal?

We've covered a lot of different haunted locations, but we gotta say, we've definitely never come across a lake before. When considering sources of greenhouse gases, lakes and reservoirs may not immediately come to mind, but they are a significant part of the global greenhouse gas budget. Bridget Deemer is a research ecologist at the U.S. Geological Survey's Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center. Her research aims to understand how human activities are affecting the way that energy and nutrients cycle through ecosystems. She also continues to be involved in efforts to understand methane emissions from lakes and reservoirs, including Lake Powell.
The lowest spot on Earth is the Challenger Deep — a part of the Mariana Trench that lies seven miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean. But that's barely a wading pool compared to a possible ocean on Titan, the largest moon of Saturn. It could be 150 miles deep and hold far more water than Earth's oceans. Titan is enveloped in a cold, thick atmosphere that's topped with an organic “smog.” Lakes of liquid methane and ethane dot its surface. But there appears to be far more liquid beneath Titan's crust, which is made largely of frozen water. The Cassini spacecraft measured how much the surface of Titan flexes — the result of tides caused by the gravitational pull of Saturn. They found that the tides are more than 30 feet high — much higher than if Titan were made just of rock. So, instead, it must be made of roughly half rock and half water. Some of the water makes up the frozen crust, but much of it must still be liquid — warmed by the tides and the decay of radioactive elements inside Titan. The ocean, which may contain ammonia, may begin 30 miles down or farther, and could be 150 miles deep. If so, then it contains about four billion cubic miles of water — more than a dozen times more water than all of Earth's oceans combined. Look for Saturn rising well to the left of the Moon late this evening. The planet looks like a bright star. But you need a telescope to pick out watery little Titan. Script by Damond Benningfield Today's program was made possible by Mercer Caverns, in Calaveras County in California's historic Gold Country. Support McDonald Observatory
