In this episode of the AdTech God Pod, Zach Lain, Director of Global Data Partnerships at PepsiCo, dives into the evolving intersection of data, creativity, and marketing outcomes. He shares his unique path from Chinese language and law studies to running global data strategy at one of the world's biggest brands. Zach discusses the importance of clean signal infrastructure, the cultural shift away from vanity metrics, and how clean rooms are reshaping collaboration. He also highlights AI's creative potential and the persistent challenge of ad fraud. Takeaways Zach explains how his childhood fascination with Chinese characters and structure led him to study law in China, eventually channeling that passion for structured meaning into a career in data and advertising. Zach shares how data doesn't just optimize media but fuels creativity. He references Cannes Lions and tools like Springboards that use “generative hallucinations” to inspire new creative directions—turning AI errors into a spark for innovation. He argues clean rooms are becoming the "cloud for media" and will soon be foundational to how brands collaborate, measure, and activate data. This includes work with platforms like Infosum and Habu. Zach highlights a major internal change at PepsiCo: moving from vanity metrics like CTRs to true business outcomes. This is altering how campaigns are briefed, partners are chosen, and success is defined. Zach warns that CTV ad fraud is growing faster than detection can keep up. He calls for industry-wide standards and collaboration, comparing the current state to a "game of whack-a-mole" that can only be solved collectively. Continuing Livebearer month, the Water Colors team is discussing goodeids! They belong to the order cyprinodontiformes, the suborder cyprinodontoidei, and the family goodeidae. This family is split into two sub families. The first, goodeinae, are endemic to shallow freshwater habitats in Mexico – particularly along the Mesa Central area. Additionally, some species are found in brackish fringes of the Pacific coast, and north to Central Durango, Central Sinaloa, and North San Luis Potosí. The second sub family, empetrichthyinae, is found in the southwestern Great Basin in Nevada. Many of these species are rare and difficult to find, adding to the allure for livebearer fanatics. True Crime with A Twist with Beverli Rhodes July 2nd, 2025 EP: 3 Topic: Was Rob Ferrell the Vampire Cult Leader Possessed? Beverli, Akwana, Cheri and Marie will be making a deep dive into that very possibility. Roderick Justin "Rod" Ferrell (born March 28, 1980) is an American murderer and cult leader. He was a member of a loose-knit gang of teenagers from Murray, Kentucky, known as the "Vampire Clan". Ferrell claimed to be a 500-year-old vampire named Vesago, a character he created for himself after becoming obsessed with the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. Leading up to before the murders, Rod Ferrell and his group of "vampire" clan members would meet at an abandoned cement structure pinned "Hotel California". This building is located in the middle of the woods in an area called Land Between the Lakes. These meetings would often include things like drinking each other's blood as well as other death rituals. Although no crimes have been proven to take place here, it is the most likely place where the murders were plotted. In 1998, Ferrell pleaded guilty to the double slaying of a couple from Eustis, Florida, becoming the youngest person in Florida on Death Row at that time. Originally sentenced to death, Ferrell's penalty has since been reduced to life imprisonment. In January 2013, an appellate court dismissed attempts by Ferrell and Howard Scott Anderson to get a new sentencing hearing. However, in December 2018, Howard Scott Anderson was resentenced by circuit judge Don Briggs to 40 years in prison. Anderson was given credit for the 22 years he has already served, making him first eligible for release in 2031. Ruth Wendorf's relatives attended Anderson's resentencing hearing and did not oppose his early release. Speaking with the Daily Commercial, they said they are more concerned about Ferrell, who was scheduled for his own resentencing hearing in July 2019. Ferrell's hearing was subsequently rescheduled for November 18 and then again to April 2020, when the sentencing judge upheld his life without parole sentence and deemed him irreparably corrupt. Anderson is currently incarcerated in the Calhoun Correctional Institution while Ferrell is in the Northwest Florida Reception Center Annex

In the early 1980s, a Florida family of four set out on a camping trip to the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area—and never returned. According to legend, they were attacked by a large, wolf-like creature. The father was found dead outside the RV, the mother mutilated nearby, one child torn apart inside the camper, and the other discovered high in a tree. No official reports confirm this event, but the story has taken root as one of the most unsettling pieces of American cryptid folklore. This episode explores one version of that story—possibly the most detailed account, but far from the only one. We retrace the history of Land Between the Lakes, starting with the forced removal of hundreds of families to make way for the recreation area. From there, we move into the eerie details of the alleged attack and the claims of a government cover-up that followed. Along the way, we examine decades of strange encounters, unexplained evidence, and witness accounts that continue to stir fear and fascination. The creature at the heart of the legend—often called the Beast of LBL, the Dogman, or simply the Monster—is described as a seven-foot-tall, muscular but lean figure with glowing red eyes and long claws. Stories about it stretch back over 200 years, with roots in Native American oral history. In this version, we look closely at the alleged victims: a family from Florida, including two children named Bradley and Megan, and the law enforcement officers who reportedly found the aftermath of something horrific. Some accounts mention that the case was reviewed by pathologists and examiners, but their findings were never officially released and were quickly classified. Reports speak of wounds that didn't match any known animal, evidence that vanished into federal custody, and a rapid response that many believe suggests someone was expecting something exactly like this to happen.Even today, strange things are still reported in the northern parts of Land Between the Lakes: massive footprints, tufts of unidentified hair, signs of animal panic, and stories of electronic equipment suddenly failing. Those who spend time deep in the woods speak of an overwhelming sense of being watched—and sometimes, of seeing something that shouldn't exist.Despite all of this, the U.S. Forest Service maintains that there is no verified evidence of any such creature. Official statements deny any knowledge, and the story is written off as urban legend. We don't claim to offer proof. This episode is an exploration of a persistent and terrifying piece of American folklore. It's a story built on whispers, sightings, and the fear of what might be waiting just beyond the campfire's glow.Whether it's myth, misremembered tragedy, or something far stranger, the tale of the Beast of Land Between the Lakes endures. This episode contains graphic descriptions of alleged violence, including harm to children. Listener discretion is strongly advised.

The History Of Baseball In Minnesota

This week, i do an archaelogical dig into 160 years of baseball history in Minnesota. In many ways, Minnesota was an early leader in team sports being played before large crowds, when the Dakota and Ojibwe tribes would play native lacrosse games, as far back as the 1600's, long before European settlers arrived. As for baseball, their timeline stretches back to 1857, when citizens from the town of Nininger, establish the first baseball team in state history. Soon after the conclusion of the American Civil War, various teams begin to sprout up in the Land Of 10,000 Lakes, most notably in Minneapolis-St. Paul, as well as many outlier towns like Red Wing, Fairbault, Minnehaha, St. Croix and Hastings, riding the wave of the young sport's growth and popularity. 160 years later, the region's baseball history continues to be written by the Minnesota Twins, who bring the Major League brand to the state in 1961, after Calvin Griffith and the Washington Senators relocate to the Twin-Cities. I also present the history and construction of their current Home ballpark. Target Field, which stands as a testament to the Twins vision of providing a cathedral, that is not only on the cutting edge of baseball stadium aesthetics and functionality, but also for sustainable practices. Demonstrating a commitment to enviromental responsibility, and providing an inspiration to the Twins fans, to be champions for the very planet that sustains us all. #NinningerNine #NorthStarBaseBallClub #IgnatiusDonnelly #CaptainRolinOllin #VermillionClubOfHastings #MinneapolisNine #RedWingCrescentClub #SaxonNine #OlympicNine #BanJohnson #CharlesComiskey #LexingtonPark #AthleticPark #NicolletPark #MetropolitanStadium #HubertHumphreyMetroDome #TargetField #RodCarew #HarmonKillebrew #MudcatGrant #TonyOliva #LymonBostick #KentHrbek #KirbyPucket #JoeMauer #MikeKelly
