This is a replay of Enrique's story. It's been almost 5 years since the remains of Enrique Roman-Martinez washed ashore in North Carolina. Someone knows something. In May 2020, Fort Bragg Paratrooper SPC Enrique Roman-Martinez was reported missing at Cape Lookout on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Days later, his decapitated head washed onto shore. Many questions about the circumstances surrounding Enrique's murder have gone unanswered. Why did it take 19 hours for Enrique's fellow soldiers to make a 911 call? Why was information withheld that could have helped in the investigation? Where was the loyalty that was expected of soldiers when wearing the uniform of the United States Army?Today, Dawn is joined by a very special guest - Enrique's sister, Griselda Martinez. In this bonus episode, Method & Madness presents an episode from the podcast "Unforbidden Truth". On this week's episode, Andrew speaks with deceased serial killer, Billy Chemirmir. Billy Chemirmir is a Kenyan-American convicted serial killer known for his crimes in the United States. Born in Kenya in 1969, Chemirmir immigrated to the U.S. in the early 2000s. He gained notoriety for a series of murders targeting elderly women, primarily in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. Chemirmir's modus operandi involved posing as a caregiver or maintenance worker to gain access to his victims' homes. Once inside, he would often smother them with a pillow or use other methods to kill them, then steal their valuables. His criminal activities spanned from 2016 to 2018, during which he was able to evade capture for a significant period. The breakthrough in his case came when he was arrested in March 2018 for a suspected murder. As investigators dug deeper, they linked him to multiple other deaths, leading to his conviction. Chemirmir was found guilty of several charges, including multiple counts of capital murder. His case drew significant media attention due to the heinous nature of his crimes and the vulnerabilities of his victims. Chemirmir's trial and conviction highlighted issues related to elder care, safety, and the challenges of detecting and preventing such targeted crimes. This interview was recorded while Chemirmir was on trial for capital murder. On September 19, 2023, Chemirmir was killed by his cellmate at the Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony, Anderson County, Texas. Chemirmir, who was 50 years old, was allegedly attacked by Wyatt Busby. Busby was serving a 50-year sentence for the 2016 stabbing death of a man from the Houston area. Before his death, Chemirmir had reportedly made inappropriate comments about his cellmate's children.Find out more:unforbiddentruth.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/method-madness--6241524/support.

Today we're headed to New York City, where in May of 2022, 33-year-old John Umberger walked out of the townhome where he was staying - and headed to dinner with some friends. John, the social creature he was, met with more friends at a rooftop bar. After midnight, John made his last stop; the Q, an LGBTQ nightclub in New York's Hell's Kitchen Neighborhood. After leaving the Q, nobody heard from John again. He stopped answering calls, didn't respond to texts, missed social events with friends - and then missed work. Where was he? As each day passed with no word from John, his family began to panic. And then, they took action. Thank you to Linda Clary for sharing her story and for sharing John with all of us. She was unknown to those who loved her, for 40 years. It's 1982 in Blairstown, NJ - a quaint town with an old-timey feel, its residents were rocked upon the discovery of a murder victim in the local cemetery. The lead investigator Eric Kranz said “I'll worry about the murder later on. My main concern is finding out who she is.” He was tired of writing “Jane Doe”, so, she was named “Princess Doe”. Her autopsy revealed she was between 14 and 18 years old, and she put up a fight. The residents came together, helped fund Princess Doe's funeral, and had a gravestone made for her. For 40 years, they left flowers and searched for her family, praying they'd learn her name. And then, in 2022, they finally got answers. Thank you to Anne, for sharing your story. _______________________________ If you have any information about Dawn Olanick, please contact: Warren County Prosecutors Office 908-475-6274 coldcase@co.warren.nj.us If you have any information about the following cases, please click the link or call the # provided. This is Part 2 of Morgan's story. Please listen to Episode 74 first. In Part 2 of Morgan's story, we hear more from Steve & Renee Patten and from Phil Brandon. 24-year-old Morgan Patten planned to spend Veteran's Day weekend with her fiance, Phil - a Marine, stationed at Camp Geiger in North Carolina. Morgan traveled from her home in Massachusetts down to North Carolina on November 8th, 2019. During her journey, she checked in with her parents and with Phil to let them know she was safe. After checking into her hotel, Morgan walked next door to Applebees for dinner. The next thing her loved ones heard, was that she was killed in a vehicle crash that night, while being transported by 2 strangers. What happened at the restaurant that night? Many questions remain as to how Morgan Patten ended up in that truck traveling over 80 mph down a dark, country road. Join Dawn as she sits down with Morgan's parents Steve & Renee Patten and fiance Phil Brandon. 24-year-old Morgan Patten had her future planned; she couldn't wait to marry her fiance, Phil, and continue her education at Roger Williams Law School. On November 8th, 2019, Morgan traveled from Martha's Vineyard, MA to Camp Geiger in NC to spend the weekend with Phil. She arrived at her hotel that evening and walked to the nearby Applebees to grab a bite. Morgan texted her parents and her fiance that night, from her seat near the bar. When Morgan's dad received a knock at the door early the next morning, he learned the devastating news; his daughter, his only child - had been killed in a crash the night before. For the past 4 years, Morgan's parents and fiance have received few answers about what happened that night. Why did two men have Morgan in their pickup truck? What events led to that truck striking a tree on White Oak River Road in Maysville, NC and flipping over several times? Join Dawn as she sits down with parents Steve & Renee Patten and fiance Phil Brandon. This episode is being re-released ad-free in honor of Katie Palmer and her family. On Tuesday, April 21st, 2020, 39-year-old John Palmer and his wife, 38-year-old Katie Palmer set out for a morning walk in their rural neighborhood in Denison, Texas. It was a sunny morning with temperatures in the mid-60s. The road they were walking is residential- with homes and a country club- not a road with significant traffic early in the morning. There are no sidewalks and the couple was walking facing the direction of oncoming traffic. At 7:45 am, as they walked alongside the asphalt road- they were hit from behind- by their neighbor Cory Foster, who was driving a 2019 Ford F250 pickup truck. John and Katie didn't even hear the truck coming- they were both injured, Katie, fatally. Katie passed away from her injuries the next day, just after midnight. John has recovered and has spent every day since, not only grieving the loss of his soulmate; but also waiting for and then fighting for justice. The man that killed his wife had alcohol in his system, was driving with a fogged-up windshield, on the wrong side of the road, and still walks free. Thank you to John Palmer for joining me and for fighting for Katie every single day. This is the 6th part in a series. Please listen to episodes 56 through 60 first. Today, we hear from Kyle O'Connell, brother of Kristin. You'll hear in Kyle's own words what a homicide does to a family, particularly an unsolved one because every day without answers is unpredictable. The phone ringing at any time- during dinner, after 9 PM -is this finally it? There are those moments that come sporadically, without notice, when an investigator says they're close…only for another decade to go by. This is Kristin's story, told by those who are fighting for her. There are memories that time does not erase... Forever does not make loss forgettable, only bearable. -Cassandra Clare CALL TO ACTION Kristin's case CAN be solved.
