With over 5 billion active users, neglecting social channels might be costing you more than you think—in revenue, reputation, and even stock price stability. Today we're exploring the C-suite's perspective on social media with Dr. Antonis Papatsaras, CTO of Hootsuite, the social media performance engine powering the content of brands and organizations across platforms worldwide since 2008. We'll discuss the misconceptions surrounding social platforms, the untapped potential for ROI, and the consequences of neglecting social media in today's digital landscape. My name is Corey Kupfer and I've been working in the business of negotiations for more than 30 years, both as a successful entrepreneur and as an attorney. My goal is to help you strategize, plan for, find, and complete deals that will help your company grow rapidly. This is called “inorganic growth”, and it differs from the traditional, often slower, organic growth you're probably familiar with. What You Will Learn: Learn why Gannett elected to acquire search marketing software maker WordStream for $150 million, and what benefits Gannett expects to receive from the deal. I also review IBM's 2018 acquisition of Red Hat for $33 billion, in an effort to expand and grow their open source capacity and cloud dominance. I examine Oracle's acquisition of DataFox for an undisclosed value, with the intention of increasing their capacity for Artificial Intelligence to analyze business data. I also look at Twilio's $2 billion acquisition of SendGrid to expand their cloud platform as an all-in platform for business growth. Learn about Adobe's $4.75 billion acquisition of Marketo, to improve the function of their cloud-based solutions suite; as well as Cisco's $2.35 billion acquisition of two-factor authentication specialists Duo Security. I discuss AT&T's purchase of AlienVault with undisclosed financial terms, with an effort to boost their own internal systems security, as well as Siemens' $700 million acquisition of low-code platform maker Mendix. Learn why DocuSign acquired SpringCM for $220 million as an effort to modernize its processes, and hear about the Salesforce acquisition of Israeli cloud and AI marketing platform Datorama at an undisclosed purchase price. I discuss the potential motivations behind the above-listed acquisitions, as well as key tech sector partnerships of 2018 and why they stand out. For example, learn why Walmart and Microsoft are partnering for the purpose of being more competitive in e-commerce, and why Apple and Google are partnering despite their ongoing competitive interests. Our collective podcast audible journey collides head on with the dharmic brilliance of Christine Mason. She is a force of nature who dances her away through the multi-verse with ease, grace, wisdom and a whole lot of creation. Our conversation traversed many landscapes including technology, running companies and business, spiritual practice, refining ones dharma, how to create more compassionate working environments and a look at the state of yoga in the west. YES, we really did cover that much ground. Additionally, Christine shared with us her experience of how she re-adapted her life's work based on a psychedelic spiritual experience that changed her life instantly. Christine's state of being in the world is truly remarkable and being with her can hover between inspiration and intimidation. “Something in the order of 70-80% of companies fail, and they don’t fail because the entrepreneurs are weak, or because they just don’t give up--as the advice suggests. It’s actually a far more complicated phenomenon than that. But we reduce it into this idea that you just keep fighting through the abyss and you’ll get there. And so, this oftentimes ends in tragedy in a lot of ways for entrepreneurs...So what’s crazy is, we take people who, as a population are predisposed to these sorts of challenges. We then push them into some of the hardest and most lonely professional situations imaginable. We give them very little support. And ultimately our advice to them as a society is reduced to, ‘just keep fighting harder. And as long as you’re strong enough (i.e. as long as you’re not weak) you’ll make it and become successful.”Erik Severinghaus, serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and Chief Strategy Officer of SpringCM, joins us.Full show notes available at www.discoveryourinnerawesome.com.
