Schon mal was vom Samenleiterventil gehört?
In this episode, Kimberly highlights how biomedical engineering can improve sexual functioning and reproduction. She discusses innovations in penile and uterine transplants and how these surgeries can restore fertility and function in men and women. Kimberly describes a soon-to-be released contraception for men called Vasalgel, which is a long-acting, non-hormonal product with a significant advantage over vasectomy because it is easily reversable. This contraceptive is not FDA-approved or available, but is currently undergoing clinical trials overseas. Her guest is sexual medicine physician Joshua Gonzalez, M.D. They discuss the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to treat erectile dysfunction in men and the use of lasers to treat pelvic pain and post-menopausal pain in women. Kimberly completes the episode with an email from a listener seeking guidance regarding her gay son’s colo-rectal health.
The future of vasectomies
Comedians Jessica Michelle Singleton (@JMScomedy) and Christina Walkinshaw (@walkinsauce) join Matt and Andy to discuss bachelor parties, dating, Alaska, super coffee, Google’s April Fools, Microsoft AI, a scientifically impossible Indiegogo, Edx.org's free learning, Vasalgel in rabbits, butt stuff, bunnies in wine glasses, rabbit kidneys, long term good drug effects and fracking-induced earthquakes.
This week we're taking a closer look at our current – and potential future – contraceptive methods. We'll speak with Beth Sundstrom and Andrea DeMaria, Co-Directors of the Women's Health Research Team at the College of Charleston, about why the pill is still our go-to birth control choice when we have long acting reversible contraception methods like the IUD and the implant available for women. And we'll talk with Elaine Lissner, Executive Director of the Parsemus Foundation, about their continuing work to bring Vasalgel, a long acting, reversible, non-hormonal male contraceptive, to market. This week on Earthship Radio Joe, Jennifer and Ian sneak into the RV to talk about some very macabre things in very irreverent and hilarious ways. Beginning with Lesbian sex, they quickly move on to things like “being an accident,” male birth control injections (Vasalgel), and layered alcoholic beverages before taking a commercial break. “That’s Badass" Then they get to the macabre, which is Jennifer’s forte. We hear how she’s so fascinated by these topics that she thinks about it constantly and starts to make up situations in her head in which those things were happening to her. Then she horrifies the guys with descriptions of the Judas Cradle and the Brass Bull; two torture devices used in the Renaissance period. And they are two of the most ghastly things Ian and Joe had ever heard of really existing. They move on to her idea of serial killer postage stamps, starring people like Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker) and then, just before they lose their signal, begin to talk about death by Guillotine. All on this weeks messed up episode of Earthship Radio.
In this week’s adventure under the sheets, Joseph explains the exciting potential of the yet-to-be-sanctioned male contraceptive, Vasalgel, while Shaddai goes over various fluids, sponges, and towels.
