The final Best Of episode of Here Comes the Guillotine with Frankie Boyle, Susie McCabe and Christopher Macarthur-Boyd...Thank you.
Dave sits and waits for his turn to talk while Brett throws a hissy fit. I thought this show wasn't supposed to be a soap box for comunism. Dave's brain has pauses but if you wait long enough he can finish his thought. Luckily Brett has TOO much to say so there is no dead air. Anyway, enjoy this one. it's mid but UwU Bois are back. honesty guys this one is a snooze. you're not missing anything. -kiss kiss, Julian https://www.shoelessinsouthdakota.com

Please note: This episode was recorded on Friday, January 23 2026. Recently, Dog-Eared Books shared a reading list designed to help deepen our understanding of fascism, full of titles we believe are essential for thoughtful learning. We paired that list with a quote from George Orwell's 1984 as part of a window display at the store, and the response was overwhelming. Comments poured in from across the country and around the world. Today, we're taking a closer look at that reading list of both fiction and nonfiction books, and reflecting on why their ideas remain so urgent and important.

Send us a textOn this Thanksgiving Day 2025—when families worldwide pretend to get along over lukewarm gravy—the Entertain This hosts reluctantly sharpen their scalpels for a sardonic skewering of Eli Roth's 2023 holiday “horror,” Thanksgiving. Behold: a buckled-hat butcher transforming quaint ideals into a parade of pratfalls and punctures, where annoying teens evade demise via kitchen appliances and feasts fatal enough to make passive-aggressive in-law jabs look like poetry. Roth's secret sauce? A sprinkle of self-aware snide, a bushel of bargain-bin backlash against Black Friday avarice, and set pieces so sensationally stupid, one can't help but admire the audacity—or pity the pitch meeting. Tune in as we grudgingly garnish the gore, mock the meta-messaging on mercantile madness, and ponder aloud: Does this turkey of a tale transcend trashy, or is it just the cinematic equivalent of forcing fruitcake on the finicky? Because nothing says “festive spirit” like sarcasm served with a side of simulated slaughter. The Gaming BlenderWe mash genres. We pitch games. Week one is in the books, and Jeff Mans gives out a quick takeaway or two, or three on all 32 NFL teams from their first game of the 2025 NFL season. He also reacts to the news of Tank Bigsby being traded to Philadelphia and what this does for the Eagles and Jaguars backfields. Mans also has some early-season advice for those that are playing in the Guillotine format, especially the first-timers out there, of which there are many. Jeff also presses the “rewind” button to week two of 2024 and recounts the top scorers, waiver pickups, and how they finished the season from then on. As always, he has his top 10 week two waiver wire pickups and a few buy-low players going forward. Jeff also digs into the snap counts for each team's running backs and gives his thoughts on which RBs are trending up and down as a result. As always, Mans gives out his survivor pick for week two and has another Thursday Night Football bet for the Commanders/Packers game this week. Alors on recule. Encore. In 1931, Peter Kürten walked to the guillotine and asked if he would hear his own blood gushing from his neck after decapitation, calling it "the pleasure to end all pleasures" - the final words of a man who had murdered at least 10 people and committed 68 crimes with absolutely no remorse.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE for the ad-free version: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateTake the WEIRD DARKNESS LISTENER SURVEY and help mold the future of the podcast: https://weirddarkness.com/surveyIN THIS EPISODE: When you think of methods of execution, what comes to mind? Electric chair? Hanging? Firing squad? Lethal injection? Or perhaps something a bit more historic like guillotine, or even stoning. But I'm guessing the last thing you'd think of for a method of execution would be death by golden shower. (Death by Urination) *** Had Daniel Lambert been alive today, he would've carted his more than 700 pounds around in a motorized scooter, as too many morbidly obese people choose to do. But in the early 1800s, such amenities weren't available, because there was no market for them. Lambert was a true anomaly. And people couldn't get enough of him. (Daniel Lambert: Fat Man On Display) *** A woman describes how frightened she was when working in a school after hours – so frightened that now, over 23-years-later, she still has trouble sleeping due to the fear she experienced. (Horrible, No-good, Very Bad Schoolhouse) *** An eerie painting spooked many who just saw it. Those who owned it fared worse. Could this piece, painted in 1972, truly be haunted? (The Hands Resist Him: Haunted Painting) *** From murdering children to drinking blood, Peter Kürten was "the king of the sexual perverts" and perhaps the worst serial killer ever. So it's no surprise he would be tagged with the word “vampire” to describe him. On February 1st, 1893, an African-American teen named John Howling, walking to work in the morning, spotted a young girl, lying in the grass on the side of the road to Fort Thomas Kentucky. At first, John thought she might be sleeping, or worse, taken by the late-winter cold and freezing (or already frozen.) Howling approached and laid a hand gently on the girls shoulder to awaken her. Suddenly, Howling was howling. He let out a blood curdling scream. The girl was headless. John didn't know it yet, but he had discovered the body of beloved Greencastle, Indiana socialite, Pearl Bryan. She was obviously dead, but why had the killer decapitated her, and where was Pearl's head now?
