Why Your Bank Sucks
Bank of America Donates $25 Million to Fund An Important Discussion No One Will Be Able To Listen To

Why Your Bank Sucks

Bank of America patted themselves on the back again. One week after "committing" to a billion dollars to end racial inequality, they decided to put out another press release touting the donation of $25 million to the Smithsonian Institute for "“Race, Community and Our Shared Future” Initiative. While I am happy Bank of America wants to bring this conversation to the public, they brought a weird partner in for that with their tax break...I mean donation. Smithsonian says, "The initiative will launch with a series of virtual town hall conversations among global and national leaders in civil rights, social justice and economic mobility to help drive meaningful change across policy. Programming will be presented nationally and in local markets, engaging people in communities across the country on issues relating to race and equity." So why do they need money? Why can't they use zoom or skype like we all are now to interact. Why do they need "programming" that takes time to develop? Plus why are they...? Having it on the Smithsonian Channel, a $5/month subscription service which I am sure is not readily subscribed to by minorities Having exhibits in a museum where 74% of museum goers are white, only 7% black and 5% Hispanic, and nearly half hold a master's degree or higher. Wow. I discuss how they can better have these conversations in their own communities using their own damn branches and not on a paid TV channel. I also discuss stories of how they tried these assembled events at one point to talk to students, where I was hung up on, despite the fact I was bearing gifts to give. Plus, I sing the song "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly"...What? Plus, I also criticize Bank of America for not mentioning George Floyd's name, despite the fact all this philanthropy is because of what happened to him, and I rail against that weak sauce. Oh.. Plus the museum isn't open because of Covid-19. Sigh. Plus I give you a preview of my Premium Podcast Available with a $2 or more donation on Patreon: Sex Work and Banking, where I discuss issues the Adult World has with big banks and doing simple things like trying to get their money. Today's show is tasty and delicious. Let's start with our interview with Caroline Wright, which isn't until the segment 6 of today's show...but worth waiting for. Her book, Cake Magic, offers up 100 recipes for cake. CAKE! Seems like enough for a show, but there is so much more, like General Contractor supreme, Steve Cederquist from HGTV's Flip or Flop with all kinds of tips about flipping houses and buying a house, what to look for in the construction of the home and some funny stories about stuff he's found.  Travel Guy Gary Warner has tips on holiday travel and he explains why he doesn't recommend sites like Priceline. Bob Duke, PhD, one half of the show, Two Guys on Your Head, answers the most (and least) pressing questions about your mind. Manny the Movie Guy reviews Ben Affleck's new movie about an autistic accountant who kicks butt. AND, find out why Manny checks in from a suite in the Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Hills. #Swanky! And there's breaking news! We get a news-maker call from the husband and wife team who are the new North American Wife Carrying Champions. What? Plus gonzo Greg and Phil Hulett offer their stories, including: Bob Dylan: Nobel Laureate, National No-Bra Day, Recreational Marijuana on the November ballot, Cuban Cigar restriction lifted...kind of, Samsung Note 7 fire and explosions trumped up by operatives at Apple? Creepy Clown update, Brain implant restores feeling and movement, Lego goes Fab and Gear with a special Beatles design, What's worse than getting your lady a teddy bear for her birthday? It starts with a Poke and ends with a Mon and THEY are Enormous! And finally, here's one way to keep the riff raff out: a Social App for rich snobs that'll cost you $1,000 a month to be a member.
