Omakase, seafood buffet, beef steaks and warm bowls of ramen or perhaps delicious bowls of bak chor mee, or minced meat noodles topped with a dash of tangy black vinegar. You might have seen countless videos of people recommending restaurants and eateries serving delectable meals on social media, but have you ever how many of them do you end up remembering and trying out?  Well, that's the problem that our guest for today, Drigmo, aims to solve. Founded by ex-Googlers in 2022, Drigmo aims to be a Spotify playlist, but for food.  Put simply, it is a social app where users create their own restaurant lists, organise the places on a map, and bring the list to life by adding notes, pictures and videos. Users can also see what their friends have on their lists and save discoveries from them.  The app was first announced in Singapore via TikTok in March this year. Since then, users have saved over 45,000 places and created over 15,000 tags on the platform. According to a DealStreetAsia article, the firm hopes to disrupt Google's restaurant reviews.  So how does the firm define the industry it operates in and its positioning strategy?  More importantly, how much money is in the restaurant review business and what does Drigmo's growth trajectory look like in the near future? Thrive By Design: Business, Marketing and Lifestyle Strategies for YOUR Jewelry Brand to Flourish and Thrive

Threads is all the buzz lately! 100 million new users join in just the first week, which is crazy!   You have to ask yourself (because who really needs yet another social media platform):   Is it worth your time?  Is it just another time suck?  How can you leverage it for your business?    The jury is still out, but for now, I'd say give it a try and just have fun experimenting.    Will Threads replace Twitter?    Or will it go the way of Clubhouse? Remember during the pandemic lockdown, when Clubhouse was everyone's favorite shiny new toy? We were all isolated and stuck at home, so what else was there to do? But nowadays, is anyone even still using it? Not me.   I'm still experimenting and playing around with Threads to decide for myself how it might fit into an overall marketing strategy. What I've sensed so far is that it's not political or journalistic (like Twitter). It's actually more like the early days of Facebook when you'd post a random status.    Why Join Threads Now?   If you're thinking about joining the Threads app and want to grow a big following, it's best to jump on now before it gets overcrowded. I've been posting on both of my accounts daily (tracymatthewsny and flourish_thrive), just one or two things here and there, trying to get a feel for the app and how I might leverage it going forward.   Listen to Episode 419 and decide for yourself!   For now, the jury is still out as to whether Threads is a game-changer when it comes to promoting your jewelry business and connecting with your audience.    Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this lighthearted episode and then just experiment, play and have fun!   Are you enjoying the podcast? Threads by META: The Text-Based Social App Taking the Internet by Storm The social media landscape is ever-evolving, with new apps constantly vying for users' attention. In the midst of this dynamic environment, Threads, the text-based app by META and powered by Instagram, has made a stunning entrance. Within just five days of its launch on June 6, 2023 (June 5 in the Americas), Threads amassed a staggering 100 million signups. This meteoric rise has left even the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, in awe, who described the achievement as "insane" and hard to comprehend. In stark contrast, its rival Twitter has experienced a decline in user retention, pointing to the captivating appeal of Threads. I. The Rise of Threads: A Paradigm Shift in Social Media Threads has captured the imagination of users worldwide, catapulting its popularity to unprecedented heights. Its success can be attributed to a combination of factors, including the speed at which it garnered 100 million signups, its unique concept, and its integration with Instagram. The speed at which Threads achieved 100 million signups in just five days is nothing short of remarkable. Even Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, expressed his disbelief and excitement. The swift rise of Threads highlights the power of curiosity, hype, and effective marketing in the digital age. II. Analyzing User Loyalty: Threads vs. Twitter Examining the contrasting user loyalty rates of Threads and Twitter offers valuable insights into the changing dynamics of social media. While Twitter has experienced a decline in user retention, Threads has managed to maintain a steady level of loyalty. The decline in Twitter's user retention is evident from the statistics, particularly among Android users. The percentage of new users who continue to regularly use the app after 30 days has dropped from 19% in May 2022 to 16% in May 2023. This decline raises questions about the factors contributing to this trend, such as increased competition, changes in user behavior, or evolving user preferences. III. Unraveling the Success Secrets of Threads Threads' phenomenal success can be attributed to a combination of strategic targeting, simplicity, and effective integration with Instagram. To achieve such rapid growth, Threads effectively targeted the right audience. By identifying the user segment most receptive to text-based communication and intimate connections, Threads managed to capture the attention and loyalty of millions of users. Understanding the preferences and needs of the target audience allowed Threads to tailor its features and marketing strategies accordingly, resonating with users on a deeper level. Another key element of Threads' success is its integration with Instagram. By leveraging Instagram's established ecosystem, Threads enhances its functionality and offers a seamless experience for users. The integration allows users to effortlessly transition between the two apps, benefiting from the familiarity of Instagram's features while enjoying the unique appeal of Threads' text-based interactions. Threads' rapid ascent in the social media landscape showcases the ever-changing nature of user preferences. Its text-based approach, seamless integration with Instagram, and emphasis on authentic connections have struck a chord with millions of users worldwide. While Twitter's user retention wanes, Threads has managed to captivate users and hold their loyalty steadfastly. As the social media landscape continues to evolve, Threads by META has firmly established itself as a prominent player in the industry. ** Thank you for joining me on The Contrast Project Lounge Podcast. TikTok was the most downloaded app in 2020. What started as a lip syncing and dancing app, has now grown into a serious platform for information, debate and discussion. Especially for the one target group everyone, both media houses and companies worldwide, want to reach: Young people known as Gen Z. According to the recently released Reuters Digital News Report 2022, TikTok reaches 40% of 18-24 year olds, and 15% of them use it to get their news. Tourism plays a big part on the platform as well, but the most successful travel accounts still belong to individual content creators – what we used to call “influencer” over at Instagram. How can the travel industry use TikTok to promote destinations and travel products? That's what we are talking about today, with two people who can tell you exactly how to do it and what the benefits are – because they are already doing it! When Donald Trump announced he was creating a social media app to disrupt big-tech, Rob had mixed feelings but he believed that many companies and the centralisation of media did and still does need to be disrupted. Listen in to this episode to hear why he had these thoughts and how the app is doing now. KEY TAKEAWAYS The app has been branded a failure because there is a waiting list of over a million and it doesn't even work on android, among various other issues. De-platforming and cancel culture is rife across social media and this is why Rob believes we need to see the de-centralisation of social media. If we continue to allow social media to have this much power over free-speech then we are giving them too much control, over more than just what people post on Facebook, but the political landscape as well. Jon and his team are dedicated to creating accessible and inclusive spaces and are taking inspiration from platforms like Clubhouse to innovate in the way we interact with art online. The discussion touches upon some of the actions Choice Art is taking to devise new support structures and resources for international creatives, including a monthly cash prize competition in the app. Isotta and Jon conclude their conversation by discussing how word of mouth is the best marketing strategy and why Choice Art's aspiration is to use the tools of the creator economy and Web 3.0 to empower transparent data ownership and artistic attribution. DonateMusic by Blue Dot SessionsCover art by Eleonora TucciSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/art-is/donations
