Website:https://allison-jackson.mykajabi.com/We have all met people or seen photos online of beautiful, perfectly fit people and wished we could look like them. Many of us will try crazy diets or extreme fitness routines to get that certain look without taking into consideration the effects that can have on our health. Allison Jackson is one of those healthy, fit, beautiful women that people want to look like. She works full time in the corporate world as a communications professional but has always had a passion for fitness and health. She is a Precision Nutrition Coach, and is certified as a personal trainer, a macro nutrition coach and a Yoga instructor. In her spare time, she competes professionally as a body builder in figure competitions where she is judged on muscular symmetry and definition. So many people asked her how she handled being a mom with a full-time job and getting her body in shape and stage ready that starting a business about it seemed like the next step. She founded Allison Jackson Fitness to help moms in the corporate world improve their health and achieve balance between life and fitness. Today I talked with Allison about how she “helps people realize their fitness goals — whether it's eating healthy, getting started with an exercise routine, attempting a 5K or trying their hand at competing”. By using a coach like Allison, you get her expertise in creating sensible fitness/food programs as well as her accountability tools to help you improve your health and achieve balance between life and fitness. Top 3 takeaways to prioritize your health and fitness1. Start tracking your food with an app like Fitness Pal to get a full picture how much and what you are eating.2. Track your movement. Getting in a workout is important but so is regular movement throughout the day.3. Self-awareness with mindfulness and meditation. Use guided meditation or just enjoy silence. “You can't feel bad enough to make anybody else's life better” This quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer is a great reminder that showing up in the world with judgment doesn't serve you or anyone else in a positive way. In this episode, the Fab 5 is talking about feeling sorry for others and how that energy works against us and them. If we display feelings of pity and judgement for the struggles of others, that becomes the energy that the world receives from us, ultimately highlighting that person's difficult situation. Throughout this episode, you will hear stories and lessons that the Fab 5 have learned about judgement, pity, and feeling sorry for others. Each of us have our own biases and personal experiences that have shaped our perspective, but one thing is universal: we are all human. Once she got a handle on sound nutrition, she ended up competing in a figure/bodybuilding competition and discovered she loved it. Why? You ask. The result of preparing and performing on stage resulted in an exponential boost in her self-confidence. The “new” mind spilled over in all aspects of her life. The Goin' to Work boys are back with another episode after the holiday celebrations. The Detroit Lions almost made it back to back weeks with a victory behind backup Tim Boyle. Ultimately, the inexperience prevailed. The Michigan Wolverines get back into action as they take on the Georgia Bull Dogs in the semi-finals of the college football playoff. The Michigan State Spartans take on Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl, but will anyone really be watching with no Kenneth Walker or Kenny Pickett? COVID is running wild in the NBA and NHL which leaves very little to discuss with the Pistons and the Red Wings. Both leagues look to be making changes to their protocol to keep games and rosters in tact as much as possible. COVID also is an issue with college basketball as Michigan hasn't played a game in almost two weeks. The Spartans took down the Oakland Grizzles in convincing fashion last week to jump up to number 10 in the country. Lastly, the show wraps up with the 'Random Question of the Week'. The Best of 2021 episode airs Friday, December 31st. The boys look back on their top 10 moments in Detroit Sports and their 'Fab 5' podcast moments from the 2021 year.

3 characteristics to look for when selecting your next gym/ trainer/ program: Must be able to do it consistently long termMust have a strategy that makes sense, including progressive overload as you get stronger and build lean muscle toneMust incorporate REAL strength trainingIf the workout makes you so sore and exhausted, that you can't go back and do it again the next day, that is NOT a good workout. If you are following a program for more than a few weeks and you're not seeing results (a difference in the mirror, change in how clothes are fitting, a difference on the scale), it's time to fire your trainer.Beware of workouts, gyms and trainers that are simply trying to pass the time, entertain you or kill you. Don't hire a trainer based on their appearance alone. Many of them are genetically blessed and take performance enhancing drugs. They might not actually have the necessary knowledge to help you. When performed properly, especially when supersetting, strength training provides a cardiovascular workout. Happy Holidays, y'all! On this episode, Lera gets to sit down and chat with Dr. Juliane Fürst who unpacks 10 years worth of research and personal explorations in the Soviet Hippie movement as published in her latest book from Oxford University Press. Her stories will thrill, so gather 'round and take a listen. We hope you enjoy! ABOUT THE GUEST https://newageru.hypotheses.org/files/2020/05/F%C3%BCrst-320x320.jpg Juliane Fürst is head of the department of Communism and Society at the Centre of Contemporary History at Potsdam and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. She completed a monograph on the culture and history of the Soviet Hippie movement entitled Flowers through Concrete: Explorations in the Soviet Hippieland (OUP 2020). She is also the author of Stalin's Last Generation: Soviet Post-War Youth and the Emergence of Late Socialism and the editor of Dropping Out of Socialism: Alternative Cultures and Lifestyles in the Soviet Bloc (2016). You can find Flowers Through Concrete here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XJGHT62/ref=dbsadefrwtbiblvppii0 SELECT QUOTES FROM THE EPISODE "I've always... been interested in capturing the feelings and the subjectivities and the emotional subjectivities of people as much as the political developments. It always felt to me that it was a really important part of the story." "In retrospect, I can see that all my topics--they look like choices, but actually these topics found me, and I just sort of wandered around until the topic found me and then I knew it." "I always told my mother, you're very lucky, I'm not punkish, I'm not hippyish... I don't pierce my nose, my ears, whatever. But... interviewing all these hippies, I could suddenly see that actually in my own quiet way, I was quite anarchic and possibly still am..." "The one thing they all had in common was a crazy love of The Beatles... It wasn't only a case of privilege, but quite often it was a case of privilege. In many places, these very early Hippie crowds came from children of the nomenklatura in the Party." "The Soviet Hippieland... is a civilization in its own right, rather than some imitation of a Western movement." "Long hair goes a long way in the Soviet union because it's somethign that was so forbidden... It's like wearing red and white in Belarus was nothing like 2 years ago and now it's a political statement that gets you into prison." "I very much feel that one can only understand a society if you really listen to the pluralities of voices... especially in the outer edges... If you never try to see how far can somebody be from the mainstream of society, then you never get a full picture of it... It really gave me enormous pleasure over the last 10 years... that I'm really preserving something..." "We have come to the point where we've realized that... it isn't anymore all about people doing things or policies, the in-between and the ephemeral and the emotional... are what matters." Welcome to the First State Kopites podcast. It's episode 19 of season 3 - a podcast for Liverpool supporters in Delaware and friends of Liverpool supporters in Delaware. Thanks for listening on your preferred platform, we are available on ALL of them (and you can find us on YouTube). 2 wins in a week, when Covid probably had more headlines than Liverpool, but we quietly did enough to maintain our league title challenge. Villa - the Stevie G circus, Stuart Atwell!, felt like we controlled the game (Villa - no shots on target) Newcastle - it felt like we were taking it easy at points through that game, watching it back, it could have been 5 or more easily. Absence of Fab and Virgil probably accounts for some of that. Then… away at Spurs, Leicester League Cup (maybe), Leeds (Boxing Day), Leicester. If we play all of these games we will be more than half way through the league season. Other stuff: Champions League draw - embarrassing third party ‘software' glitch Tuchel and Chelsea - it must be hard with all those injuries We'll be back after the League Cup game to hopefully chat about the Reds continuing to win. Thanks to everyone - if you enjoyed the podcast, share it with a friend. Follow us on Twitter - we only tweet and re-tweet from sources we think are credible

This week's podcast episode features an interview with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon., co-hosted by Amina Altai.   Dr. Lyon is a holistic functional family medicine practitioner who received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she studied vitamin and mineral metabolism, chronic disease prevention and management and the physiological effects of diet composition. She also completed a research/clinical fellowship in Nutritional Science and Geriatrics at Washington University in St. Louis. Her philosophy of Muscle-Centric Medicine™ is her ground-breaking concept of eliminating unwanted body fat while building muscle and allowing for continued metabolism boosts and long-term wellness.  Dr. Lyon also promotes exercise as another way to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. More than just physical activity, adults need muscle-targeting exercises to ensure long-term health and decreased risk of chronic disease. Her patients include elite military operators such as Navy SEALS, Green Berets, Army Rangers and Canadian Assaulters, as well as everyday heroes and heroines who benefit from her whole-body, whole-person approach, including advanced nutrition interventions, metabolic and genetic testing and personalized behavioral action plans.    Amina AlTai:   “Your next level of success will not come from DOING more. It will come from being more you.”  Amina is a Holistic Leadership & Mindset Coach and corporate trainer. She is the first social entrepreneur to successfully create a methodology that supports the health of a business and its people at the same time.  Her journey has been illustrious. After starting her career in marketing at Cartier, she went on to co-found a marketing agency specifically to support emerging and growth-stage brands. After over 7 years of working on brands ranging from Samsung to Avene, MD SolarSciences and Supersmile as well as helping to launch over 30 start-ups, she went on to lead marketing efforts for Spafinder Wellness—the largest media and marketing company in the wellness space. She later took a post at Bliss as head brand integration officer—overseeing the product, spa and E-commerce businesses. Pretty major. Then, as you've heard her describe on her previous Forever FAB podcast interview, she hit a proverbial wall. That wall, that block was perhaps a blessing in disguise, a message, and maybe even a motivating impetus to help her fulfill her higher purpose-- that of helping to heal herself and the world.  It's one of the many reasons why I connected with Amina; we both share the desire to make the world a more beautiful place.   Recommendations/The F.A.B. Five according to Dr. Gabrielle Lyon: Have integrity; Treat people as you wish to be treated; Be truthful; Build an amazing community; Invest in your family.   To work with Dr. Lyon on optimizing your holistic health and metabolism, controlling blood sugar, and mitigating disease, visit drgabriellelyon.com.   For a holistic mindset reset about your potential for greatness, work with Amina and learn how she may help you reboot, reset, and regain your mojo at AminaAltai.com.   You may also follow these FAB women on IG: @aminaaltai and @drgabriellelyon.    This episode of the ForeverFAB podcast was brought to you by Amina AlTai Coaching.   Amina is a leadership and mindset coach to high-achieving women who are ready to take their work and lives to the next level.  As a coach to notable female leaders and impact-driven celebrities, Amina works deep and fast to connect you to where you want to go. Episode 94 of the GTW podcast is here and it's a losing one. Out of the 13 games played this week the Michigan teams were able to grab a total of 3 victories. The episode kicks off with the usual intros and then jumps over to Mile High where the Lions took on the Denver Broncos. Not a lot of positives in this one. The Heisman ceremony took place this weekend and even though the whole ceremony is weird it produced some good moments. The 'Fab 5' segment makes its return as the boys are in the holiday spirit. The Red Wings had a TOUGH week without Tyler Bertuzzi and the goaltending had a bad patch. The Pistons are without Jerami Grant for the foreseeable future and this season has gotten ugly fast. Cade Cunningham is the only bright spot currently. It time to sound the alarm a little bit for Michigan basketball as they dropped another game this week against Minnesota. Michigan State basketball seems to be rolling at this time of the year compared to other years. Lastly, the show wraps up with the random question of the week.

The Fab 3 (Jericho, drummer Mike Portnoy, and Anthrax's Charlie Benante) return to celebrate the release of Peter Jackson's 8-hour documentary series, “Get Back,” on their favorite band, The Beatles! Peter Jackson sifted through, and restored, the original footage captured for Michael Lindsay Hogg's 1970 documentary about the making of the “Let It Be” album, and The Fab 3 share their thoughts about what's included. They marvel at the camaraderie and comedy between John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, along with the incredible musicianship and performance of the band's famed 1969 rooftop concert at their Apple Corps headquarters. They share favorite scenes and moments, what surprised them most about the footage and the relationships, and the myth the documentary dispels about the picture painted of the 4 Beatles in the original “Let It Be” doc.
