Description: Michael Shasberger talks about September 11th, and how it has affected us today. Biography: Michael Shasberger joined the Westmont faculty in 2005 after a distinguished career in higher education and church music. A graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota, he earned a doctorate in choral music, vocal performance and church music at the University of Southern California. He has extensive experience as a conductor and soloist in a wide variety of musical performances, including opera and classic works. Dr. Shasberger's endeavors here at Westmont include conducting the Westmont College Choir and Chamber Orchestra, private voice instruction, working with the office of the campus pastor, and developing artistic collaborations with the Santa Barbara arts community. He is also the Artistic Director of the Denver Bach Society, Founder and Director Emertitus of the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra of Denver, and sings with the Santa Barbara based Vocal Scholars vocal ensemble.

Biography: Dr. Paul Ford is Professor of Systematic Theology and Liturgy at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, CA, the seminary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was formerly a Benedictine monk at St. Andrew’s Abbey, Valyermo, CA. Dr. Ford was the first Roman Catholic to earn a doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, where he went to study the theology and literature of C.S. Lewis. Dr. Ford holds a B.A. in Philosophy from St. John’s Seminary College, an M.A. in Religion from St. John’s Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Description: Shirley Mullen talks about C.S. Lewis' book Mere Christianity. Biography:Shirley Mullen is no stranger to Westmont. She was a member of Westmont's history faculty from 1984-2006. During part of that time, she also served as the interim Dean of the college, and as Westmont's Provost from 2002-2006. While she did not know Dr. Wallace Emerson personally, she came to known him and to appreciate his contribution to Westmont through conversations with Dr. Paul C. Wilt, longtime member of Westmont's history department, and the college archivist, and Mrs. Margaret Voskuyl, who first came to Westmont in the 1940's as an assistant to Dr. Emerson. Shirley's academic training is in the fields of history and philosophy--focused on the Enlightenment and its Legacy. She currently brings her intellectual passion to the task of creating effective and enduring Christian liberal arts colleges for the challenging world of the 21st century.
