Newson Health celebrates its 100th podcast episode with the Clinical Director of Newson Health, Dr Rebecca Lewis. When Dr Louise Newson began these podcasts with the aim of reaching more women, she didn’t envisage doing more than 10 episodes, let alone 100!    In this emotional episode, Dr Lewis and Dr Newson reflect on their joint menopause mission to help women globally with the perimenopause and menopause, as they talk about how their worlds have dramatically changed from being GPs within the NHS, to owning and running the largest menopause clinic in the world.    Their joint aims for the next decade:   1. See more women getting the right treatment for their menopause. Currently, only 14% of women in the UK take HRT despite it holding benefits for many more women. The Newson Health doctors would like to see 60 - 70% of women receive this safe and effective treatment.   2. Continue to raise the profile of perimenopause and menopause, not only medically but in society - especially in the workplace.   3. Raise the profile of menopause globally; many countries don't have a word for it let alone access to treatment.

The Locked On Cougars Podcast for Wednesday, April 21, 2021: A hump day edition of the podcast began with the continuation of the NFL Draft player profiles that are taking place as past of the countdown to the 2021 NFL Draft next week. Jake Hatch profiled former BYU tight end Matt Bushman and explains why Bushman may walk the very footsteps that his father-in-law, Chad Lewis, walked at the pro level The 100 seasons of BYU football countdown also continued on a Wednesday with a look back at 1924, the final year of Alvin Twitchell's tenure as head coach of the Cougars. Hatch explained what led to Twitchell's leaving BYU and it sure seems to have some ties to a long-running gripe that Cougar fans have in the modern day Finally, the show wrapped up with the other news that listeners needed to know about, including a new BYU football commitment as well as an offer extended, two new transfer portal targets for the men's basketball program and a home win for the baseball program over an in-state rival Listen to The Ultimate Mock Draft 2021 presented by Audacy and the Locked On Podcast Network from April 19th-26th. In a sermon a couple weeks ago, I quoted from C.S. Lewis' essay "The Weight of Glory": "Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself," he says, "your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses". I've returned again and again to this quote over the last few weeks, and finally decide to share the entire work with you all. The text is actually from a sermon Lewis gave on June 8th, 1941, and in it Lewis discusses what God is calling us toward, and how that call transforms us, our relationships, and our communities. He talks about virtue, desire, and consummation - all while looking toward the question of what is means that God is pleased in us. The Lesson for this sermon is from Revelation chapter 2: (26)"And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: (28) And I will give him the morning star." I hope you have time to enjoy this special presentation of "The Weight of Glory", by C.S. Lewis! Rev. James Lawson's Speech At Congressman John Lewis' Funeral

Today on Sojourner Truth: On Thursday, July 30, the world bid farewell to Congressman John Lewis during his funeral at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Congressman Lewis, an icon of the civil rights movement, passed away on Friday, July 17, at the age of 80 following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He died on the same day as C.T. Vivian, another civil rights movement icon. At Congressman Lewis funeral, three former U.S. presidents and dozens of other high-profile guests came out to pay their respects. Among them were former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. During Obama's fiery speech, he called on all people to uphold the legacy of Congressman Lewis and continue to campaign against racism, police brutality and voter suppression. Bush's speech praised Congressman Lewis faith and his contributions to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Professor and civil rights activist Rev. James Lawson also delivered a speech at Congressman Lewis funeral. Rev. Lawson was a leading theoretician and tactician of non-violence within the civil rights movement. He conducted nonviolence training workshops for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and mentored a number of young students at Vanderbilt, Fisk University, and other area schools in the tactics of non-violent direct action. In Nashville, Tennessee, he trained many of the future leaders of the civil rights movement, among them John Lewis, Diane Nash, James Bevel, Bernard Lafayette, and others. Today, we will hear the speech Rev. Lawson delivered at Congressman Lewis memorial. Bill Clinton in his speech raised some eyebrows when he made a not so veiled criticism of Stokely Carmichael's influence and leadership of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, known as SNCC. Both Congressman Lewis and Stokely Carmichael, who later changed his name to Kwame Ture, were involved with SNCC. With roots in 1960 from the student-led sit-ins at segregated lunch counters in Greensboro, North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee, SNCC worked to coordinate and assist direct-action challenges to segregationist policies and the political exclusion of Black people. In 1966, Kwame was chosen to replace Congress Lewis as chairman of SNCC. At the time, he was also working alongside the Black Panther Party. Commenting on Kwame replacing Congressman Lewis, Clinton said: There were two or three years there where the movement went a little bit too far toward Stokely, but in the end, John Lewis prevailed. Clinton's remarks have drawn criticism from some who saw it as divisive and unsolicited. Dr. Peniel E. Joseph is our guest.

You can't go to church and you can't have a funeral for your loved one . . . but politicians can! The late Representative John Lewis' funeral was a shocking display of how the left will break their own rules and edicts when it is convenient for them. Packed pictures of the funeral showed little to no social distancing and D.C.'s Mayor Muriel Bowser even made quarantine exceptions for funeral attendees. Last week we brought you a story of how a public housing apartment building in California led to a China-style quarantine of the building's residents. Something similar is now happening in Australia where cases have begun to grow. Today we also take a look at the New York Times which appears to be finally admitting that there is a cost to lockdowns and we examine how the Catholic Church is handling the pandemic. Also -- Phelim explains his interesting new haircut . . . We hope you enjoy today's episode. I wanted to do a quick episode to inform you on an injustice that is taking place here in Atlanta, in John Lewis' historic district. This is the district Sonya and I live in.  I cannot see the ugliness of what is happening here without saying something. All of it is a bit confusing, so I invited Maya Dillard Smith, a Civil Lawyer and the Former Director of the Georgia ACLU, to help clarify in the clearest most concise manner.  She and I and several others are working together to bring awareness to this issue and call for an election to honor our democracy and the late John Lewis.
