In this episode, we speak with Lena Wennberg, Chief Sustainable Development Officer, and Therese Forsström, Head of Environmental Department at Swedavia, which owns and operates 10 airports across Sweden, connecting the country both internally and with the rest of the world.Wennberg and Forsström discuss:Swedavia's achievement of fossil-free operations in 2020 in their own airport operations, backed by committed leadership that views sustainability as a “license to operate.”Their ambitious goal to enable fossil-free domestic flights in Sweden by 2030, primarily through sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with plans to reach 10% SAF usage.Swedavia's incentive program that covers 50% of the premium cost for airlines refuelling with SAF, plus their procurement of SAF for their own business travel for the last nine years. The airport's preparations for future technologies, including charging infrastructure for electric aircraft at smaller airports and collaboration with Airbus on hydrogen infrastructure. The balancing of sustainability with operational needs in a country where air travel is essential due to the vast geography. As industry leaders working towards fossil-free aviation since long before it became mainstream, Swedavia offers a compelling example of how airports can transform environmental commitments into tangible action while maintaining operational excellence. If you LOVED this episode, you'll also love the conversation we had with Christina Cassotis, CEO of Pittsburgh International Airport, who shares her ambitious vision for transforming the airport into a sustainable aviation hub.

Gio said the Giants are going to repeat history again in this draft. They are going to take JJ McCarthy in the draft the same way they did with Daniel Jones. Gio said he will be next up on the ‘hamster wheel of turds'. Boomer likes McCarthy and said he's been a winner since high school. Gio said he's the type of QB the Giants love for some reason. He called McCarthy, ‘John Mara's pin-up girl'. Gio also thinks Mara is talking to Bill Belichick about his thoughts on McCarthy. Then when Belichick takes over for Brian Daboll, he will have the QB he wants in McCarthy. Belichick was at a cheerleading competition on Saturday in Maryland and we have no idea why he was there. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with some Yankees spring training and Carlos Rodon's pitching troubles. Sal Licata already has Juan Soto going to the Mets and it's only early March. Gio saw Evan Roberts in person yesterday and he asked to come on the show to promote his book. BREAKING NEWS: The Kraken trade Alex Wennberg to the NY Rangers for a second rounder in 2024, a 4th in 2025 and retain 50% on Wennberg's salary. As we look back on the NFL Combine and ahead to the NFL Draft Ian remarks on how difficult it is to scout a franchise quarterback. We listen back to Kurt Warner's evaluation of Geno Smith and Drew Lock. What does it tell us about the Seahawks' future at that position? It tells Ian that the two QBs they have are placeholders for the future - and this is the draft to find your new guy. Caitlin Clark becomes the all-time leading scorer in college basketball history, among both men and women. She is the only person in team athletics that can sell out a stadium - so why are we comparing her to Pete Maravich? Ian says she should stand on her own. Plus, if ESPN and FOX are trying to put together an NIL deal to keep her in college...where do we draw the line? Thomas Drance, The Athletic joins to give us his take on the Alex Wennberg trade. He takes us behind the scenes of the NHL trade deadline, as he's experienced it from both the PR and journalistic side of things. He explains that draft picks are such a common currency in NHL trades because of the lack of risk. The Wennberg return from the Rangers makes perfect sense to him.

As an end of summer treat, Rachelle Hampton and Candice Lim dive deep into the drama that engulfed BookTok earlier this August. Over the spring and early summer, hockey-themed romance novels enjoyed a rise in the BookTok charts, a rise that led to an influx of new fans into the hockey community. One team in particular, the Seattle Krakens, became the unofficial team of BookTok, with Swedish player Alex Wennberg receiving special attention. Sexualized commentary by content creators like Kierra Lewis was both tacitly and overtly encouraged by the Kraken, who flew Lewis out to games. All of this changed when Wennberg's wife asked fans to stop posting sexualized content about her husband, a request that sent HockeyTok into a tailspin. So, what does this all mean in an era where loud and overt female desire is not only celebrated but monetized? Is there a difference between thirsting loudly for celebrities like Chris Evans and minor stars like Wennberg? And has internet thirst perhaps gone too far? This podcast is produced by Se'era Spragley Ricks, Daisy Rosario, Candice Lim and Rachelle Hampton. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Is there a difference between thirsting loudly for celebrities like Chris Evans and minor stars like Wennberg? And has internet thirst perhaps gone too far? We have an off-season controversy on our hands, folks! Jeff and Joey recover to bring a PACKED episode. This week's Kraken Reaction (5:30) features NHL news from around the league, faraway Kraken fan nickname updates that may or may not have to be taken to a vote, and then the boys get into the controversy that is BookTok, what is BookTok, how Alex Wennberg and his wife got involved, and ultimate how it became international news and the organization had to step away after initially embracing it. It's a lot to unpack and if you're with family or little ones as you listen to the pod we suggest some earmuffs. After a heavy topic it's time to switch things up and the two go over some notes from members of the Kraken Pod Fam both at home and abroad including getting drunk at a casino and throwing down a Seattle Kraken future. No Dumb Questions (what is icing?!) is out this week and Joey hops into his Tales of the Cocktail plus Kraken Rum party recap including how he ended up at a gay bar singing Nelly Furtado until 5 AM. Three Stars of the Week covers everything from football is BACK(!), a book recommendation, fish from Alaska, a tribute to Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman, and more. Ending, as always, with the Chirp of the Week.Subscribe:On All podcasting apps, rate & review on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify!Presented by The Hockey Podcast Network with new episodes every week.
