The Art of the Steal: Trump and the Economic Hit Man Presidency by John Perkins https://www.amazon.com/Art-Steal-Trump-Economic-Presidency/dp/B0G7VFBY21 Johnperkins.org Since World War II, US presidents of both parties have relied on an economic hit man strategy. They have used the four pillars of that strategy (fear, debt, anxiety over insufficiency, and divide and conquer) to control other nations and enrich a growing oligarchy. In the groundbreaking Confessions of an Economic Hit Man trilogy, John Perkins exposed the complex, expansive, and clandestine global network that serves the interests of powerful corporate, financial, and political entities. In The Art of the Steal, he reveals its most dangerous evolution. Donald Trump represents a historic shift. He is the first US president to turn the economic hit man strategy into a personal brand and governing style. He has ascended the four pillars, brought the playbook home, and reversed the march toward the American ideal of liberty, equality, justice, democracy, opportunity, and an individualism that supports family and community. At the same time, he has forced what was hidden into the open. This book explains how this happened, why it matters, and what each of us can do to turn things around. Both warning and blueprint, it offers a pathway to renewing the American ideal—and using it to model a new global ideal. About the author John Perkins is the author of 12 books on global intrigue, economics, shamanism, and transformation, including “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man,” and “Touching the Jaguar.” They have been on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 70 weeks, sold millions of copies, and are published in at least 38 languages. His latest, “Message from Pleiades,” is the story of a life-and-world-changing experience in an ancient Mayan city; it is his first novel (written under the pen name of J P Moody). As chief economist at a major consulting firm, John advised the World Bank, UN, Fortune 500 corporations, US and other governments. He regularly speaks at universities and economic and environmental forums and is a founder of the Pachamama Alliance and Dream Change, non profit organizations that partner with indigenous people to protect environments and offer programs to change the destructive ways of industrial societies.

Main, where he says he helped engineer debt deals that enriched U.S. corporations and advanced American geopolitical interests. Since exposing that system, he has become one of the most influential critics of corporate empire, foreign intervention, and the financial machinery used to control nations — including in his forthcoming new book, Art of the Steal. In this conversation, Faust and Perkins trace the through-line between Trump corruption and the older economic hitman model Perkins says was used to trap nations in debt, strip them of leverage, and fold them deeper into the machinery of American empire. The conversation moves through World Bank debt, fear-based politics, and the manufactured sense of scarcity Perkins argues has been used to keep both nations and populations compliant. It also explores how war, corruption, and financial dependence feed the same cycle — and what China's rise, America's declining credibility, and a broader crisis of consciousness might signal about where that cycle leads next.In this episode:• Trump & the Economic Hitman Model: Why John Perkins thinks Trump didn't invent a new system — he brought an old one home.• World Bank Debt: How a country can look like it's developing while losing control of its future.• Who Recruited John Perkins? The strange path from business school and the Peace Corps to the world of private intelligence and economic warfare.• Too Big to Fail: How did Trump use debt to make the system work for him?• Iran & the Strait of Hormuz: Why Perkins says the U.S. helped build the infrastructure behind one of the world's most dangerous choke points.• China vs. America: Did endless war and broken promises hand the future to Beijing?• A Crisis of Consciousness: Is the real problem corruption and empire — or the way we've been taught to define success itself?• Perkins' Five Questions: The personal audit Perkins believes can break the spell of fear, debt, and scarcity. What begins as a conversation about Trump, debt, and empire ends somewhere much stranger: with the possibility that the only lasting way out is to change the consciousness that keeps rebuilding the system in the first place.Check out John's bookshttps://www.amazon.com/stores/John-Perkins/author/B000APETSYPre-order Art of the Stealhttps://a.co/d/01e6CBd0Connect with John Perkinshttps://www.johnperkins.org/https://www.instagram.com/jperkinsauthorhttps://x.com/jperkinsauthorhttps://www.facebook.com/johnperkinsauthorhttps://www.tiktok.com/@jperkinsauthorJoin us on PatreonFor uncensored episodes, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive community access:https://patreon.com/FarOutWithFaustListen on Spotify + Apple PodcastsSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6StPwgq2di3f8uxnc6SmIfApple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/far-out-with-faust-fowf/id1533017218FOWF & Faust Checho on socialhttps://www.instagram.com/faroutwithfaust/https://www.instagram.com/theonefaustchecho/https://www.facebook.com/Faroutwithfausthttps://x.com/faustchechohttps://patreon.com/FarOutWithFaustQUESTION THE ANSWERS™#Trump #WorldEconomics #Capitalismwe'd love to hear from you

#69: When “Social Justice” Becomes Social Injustice: A Biblical Evaluation

College Faith

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 1, 2026 56:48

One of the most pressing and contested topics on college campuses today is social justice, and many Christians are confused about how to understand it through a biblical lens. I hope this conversation will clear away some of the confusion. I'm joined by Dr. Thaddeus Williams, a professor of theology and philosophy at Biola University's Talbot School of Theology. Dr. Williams is the author of Confronting Injustice Without Compromising Truth.  In it, he argues that Christians are called to care deeply about justice, but that not every version of “social justice” reflects a biblical understanding of truth, human dignity, or the gospel. Instead, he invites readers to recover a vision of justice rooted in Scripture, the character of God, and the dignity of every human being made in the image of God. In our conversation, we explore how Christians can think carefully and faithfully about justice, truth, identity, and cultural engagement—especially in the context of higher education. In this podcast we discuss: How Thaddeus came to be interested in this topic and write Confronting Injustice Without Compromising Truth: 12 Questions Christians Should Ask About Social Justice. Why social justice is such a central topic on campus and in our culture. Defining “Social Justice B” and its underlying philosophy, Critical Theory. Why these ideas now provide ultimate meaning for many (becoming their religion). How students can understand and affirm biblical justice as true social justice (and how John Perkins helped clarify the four guideposts of correct social justice). How our culture's understanding of social justice (“Social Justice B”) actually leads to further injustice, making our culture cruel and uncaring. Why understanding the Image of God helps us think well about issues of social justice and equality. How to distinguish between “Social Justice A” and “Social Justice B” in conversations, papers, and class discussions. Resources mentioned during our conversation: Thaddeus Williams, Confronting Injustice Without Compromising Truth: 12 Questions Christians Should Ask About Social Justice Thaddeus Williams' Podcast “The Shed & Beam” J.P.  Debt Weapon: John Perkins on Global Power Plays: The Art of The Steal | John Perkins What if nations aren't conquered by armies anymore, but by loans, fear, scarcity, and the quiet seduction of power? In this explosive conversation, former economic hitman John Perkins pulls back the curtain on how countries are controlled, how leaders are bought, and why the same machinery once used abroad is now being used on ordinary Americans.  But this episode goes deeper than geopolitics. It reveals how good people get trapped inside corrupt systems, not because they are evil, but because identity, debt, status, and fear make truth too expensive to tell.  In this episode, we explore: How John Perkins was recruited at 26, fresh out of the Peace Corps, believing he was helping nations grow  Why GDP can be a deeply misleading metric that hides elite extraction behind national "growth."  The four pillars of the economic hitman system: fear, debt, scarcity, divide and conquer  How Trump didn't invent the system, but made it visible, branded it, and turned it inward  Why attacking a nation often strengthens the very regime you claim to oppose  The difference between the American ideal people still believe in, and the darker mechanisms operating beneath it  Why China has outplayed the U.S. economically in much of the world, and what that signals about the future of power  The crucial distinction between a death economy built on short-term extraction, and a life economy built on long-term benefit for all life  John's five-question framework for how listeners can stop feeling powerless and begin becoming part of that life economy  Let's be clear, this isn't a partisan episode. It's a forensic look at how power actually moves, how identity gets manipulated, and what it might take to build something better.  About the Guest John Perkins is the bestselling author of Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and the brand new: The Art of the Steal: Trump and the Economic Hitman Presidency. A former chief economist, he now writes and speaks about global power, economic manipulation, and the urgent shift from a death economy to a life economy.  Resources John Perkins: https://johnperkins.org  About the Host Dov Baron works with elite leaders, teams, and organizations to decode the emotional source code driving behavior, power, culture, and decision-making, so they can lead from meaning, truth, and purpose rather than unconscious survival patterns. I sat down with John Perkins, author of Confessions of an Economic Hitman, and what he shared completely shifted my perspective. We talk about how global power really works—from the World Bank and IMF to how countries are pushed into debt traps that benefit corporations, not people. But this isn't just about geopolitics… it's about awareness, responsibility, and what each of us can actually do.The biggest takeaway for me? It's not about fear—it's about action. In this episode, we get into:- What an “economic hitman” actually does- How global systems impact everyday life- The truth behind GDP and who it really benefits- China vs. the U.S. — what's really happening- Why we're at a critical inflection point in history- The 5 questions YOU can ask to create real changeThis conversation challenged me—and I think it will challenge you too.Like this episode?
