A podcast where we explore all things marriage, motherhood, and womanhood. Interviews where we talk about challenges from new parenting, old parenting, and overcoming challenges in marriage and in life.
It's official. We've outgrown social media platforms....or maybe we are just really sick of the constant comparison, and waste of our day that comes with scrolling? Either way, Cylie has already relinquished the demon and Val is doing it this afternoon. It's time to read some books, do some house projects, be a more present mother and wife. We are here for it, care to join us?
Merry Christmas! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. Today we had our first guest...Chris Johnson on the show ( hey, all you single ladies). We talked about the single life of millennials, declining testosterone levels, what life is like living in Turkey, seizures, and how not to wear a beanie. Come join us for some humor and thoughtful conversation.
It's been a while! We are back... and in true Cylie and Val fashion... we are hitting all the current hot topics ;) We are so excited to be recording and will have a new episode every month. Please join us for an hour of laughs and strong opinions
We think it's pretty cool that we get to live in the Yakima Valley, and we are talking about it today! Millennials get a bad wrap sometimes, but all those 1980's and 1990's babies are shaping this community for the better and we are shouting out about them!
Hey guys! We took a short break because....well life happened...but the dust has settled and we are back to chattin' it up! Today we jumped straight into talking about play dates and the etiquette that goes along with them, and sleep overs, leading to the question- how do we protect our children without over protecting our children? We then hopped on the trauma train- talking about how it has shaped and molded us for the better...and created connection with others...which left us asking- if we removed all of our traumas- who would we be?
Did you wake up to breakfast in bed and a sparkling clean house on Mother's Day? Yeah........neither did we. This morning we talked about what Mother's Day looked like. We also dove into the uncomfortable question......are we giving our partners enough? And yes, it is what you're thinking...sex (and other things like attention, compliments, even space...but mostly sex). We all have needs and wants we want met....but are we reciprocating this with our partner?
We both took a personality test that is based off of core fears, desires, and what motivates us and convinced our husbands to do the same. Listen in on how this brought clarity and understanding to our relationships and even our friendships. Understanding our enneagram and our husbands enneagram has opened the doors for better quality communication. We can't change people...but we can change how we deal with them ;)
Did you know that mirroring the behavior you wish to see is surprisingly effective? This morning Val shared how her husbands approach to cultivating an exclusive bond, easily rubbed off on her and she didn't even know it. Is anyone else out there fed up with the birth control hormone roller coaster? We are, and we're talking about it. And it's been a while, but we decided to plunge into some controversial hot topics because...why not?
Trying to get your kids to listen is a job all it's own. Val started reading "How To Talk So Little Kids Will Listen," and we dove into the "tools of engaging cooperation," chapter. We've decided that its one thing to find helpful information and be inspired by it, but it's another to take that information and implement it into your day to day. Cylie also shared a quote that had us seeking ways to create a passionate, truly, madly, deeply (Savage Garden anyone?) marriage.
Laughs and lover's quarrels were shared over a couple of Rainiers tonight. Do you consider heated arguments with your spouse a good or a bad thing? We believe, if done correctly... it can be beneficial to your relationship. Cylie also gives us the skinny on her new love for mom jeans and chunky white shoes. And we get a little deep, asking ourselves if we are allowing our past to make excuses for thoughts/ actions/ choices in the present. Join us :)
Val is considering coming back to social media via Instagram, and we decided to review the pros and cons of that decision....which leads us down the rabbit hole of the media and it's hypocrisy. And...if you're a person that takes a run down the center of the road and not on the sidewalk...you're gonna want to skip this one.
There were no life changing stories or deep conversations this morning. We had no words of wisdom or motivational quotes. We did what we do best, talked about a whole lot of nothing, made faces at each other, and laughed. Please join us as we talk about fake lashes, hair cuts, Walmart, and customer service.
How many candles are going to be on your birthday cake this year? For Val, it's 36...and that number is hitting her hard- join us as we go through her plan for combating her fear of age. We also dive deep into our buried memories, suppressed emotions, and forgotten truths that make us, us...and how uncovering those things allows us to grow, "The fire wasn't sent to define you, the fire was sent to refine you."-RL.
It's 3am, you're awaken by your dog barking and a stranger knocking at your door...You're driving down a desolate highway and see a car with it's hazards on and hood up...(we aren't story telling- these are real experiences)Are you scared?Do you help?Is your gut reaction right?Should you be on high alert? Are we "just being smart," or are we living in fear, preventing us from helping one another?
The Holidays are OVER...2021 is here and we decided to start it off with a few laughs. Get to know us a little bit better as we share (possibly over share) the answers to uncommon questions with each other. We got a kick out of it, and hope you do too.
Hey guys! It's been a while- but we're back! Cylie has just emerged from quarantine and has lived to tell her story! And if you need to know how to make gravy- Val breaks down her recipe. PS- mark your calendars, next week you can join us for a Christmas gift "how to" video....it should be entertaining to say the least! Ha :)
Well... here we go again people... WA state is getting ready for another shut down... no surprise...WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT!Turkey day is coming, are you a Betty Crocker or do you keep it easy? And get ready for the controversy- we are calling out the hypocrites :)
Whether we believe in it or not, everyone knows someone who has had a "paranormal experience" story. Listen to Val share her creepy experience this morning. Conspiracy Theory Cylie discusses her thoughts on America and the election, because of course, WE HAD TO bring it up. We ended our morning with a simple question- how hard are you willing to fight for your marriage and your spouse? A lot of us view fights as a sign that there's something wrong with a relationship. We decided to look at that differently today and see the fight as proof that you care. Join us as we talk about all things controversial and share our vulnerability with you, Today was a good one :)
This morning we took a wild ride through Halloween, took a detour at vaccines and vitamins, then a sharp turn towards the election and what you NEED to know if you want to ensure YOUR ballot counts :)
