Nipsey's music is filled with many tools to help anyone along the journey; BeTrue Media knows this first hand. To say that Nipsey controlled his narrative would be a understatement. It is unfortunate that this tribute is necessary however it is imperative we pay proper respect to someone who's life touched so many in a positive manner. The names keep dropping and the allegations tend to be the same. After the dust settles and the allegations stick; what are we the consumer, fans, naysayers, haters, or citizens seeking justice supposed to do when the same allegations hits close to home? In part 1, Reid Street Smart sat down with Ms. Ashley Roberts who is involved with the youth as a life coach for teens with varying life challenges like homelessness, foster care and teen pregnancy. Ms. Roberts talked about her role as a single mother in this new climate and the importance of producing better young men and women. During the interview we discussed the blame game we often see in the aftermath of situations similar to the Docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” and how to navigate around the chatter. Our conversation highlighted the importance of “Accountability” from a personal, family and community level. In Part 2, Reid Street Smart sat down with Mr. Emiko Terry and discussed the challenges he faces raising two daughters in the wake of R. Kelly allegations; the responsibility of the parent in those situations; and most importantly the vulnerability of the child. Mr. Terry touched on the the importance of informing your children by communicating with them with a level of openness and reality with hopes of preventing potential dangers as we try to move the conversation beyond its current state of should I be outraged or should I look to apply accountability where it fits… Please feel free to drop us a comment wherever you get your podcast; subscribe; download and share How Are You Controlling the Narrative? #ControlTheNarrative #BeTrueMedia BeTrue Media Website: http://betru.media/ BeTrue Media Instagram: Controlling_the_Narrative BeTrue Media Twitter: @reidstreetsmart
