On May 19th, 1977, 20-year-old Colleen Stan was hitchhiking from her home in Eugene, Oregon, to a friend's birthday party in the little Northern California town of Westwood. She was picked up in Red Bluff, California by a young couple, Cameron and Janice Hooker, who were out for a drive with their infant daughter. What followed was one of the most outrageous and lengthy periods of captivity I've ever heard of. Wesley Tabor Sr. grew up poor in a broken home, raised by a single mom who later married a convicted felon. Instead of following that path, Wesley became a cop and eventually joined the DEA, where he built a successful 23-year career fighting cartels, gangs, and drug traffickers. In this powerful interview, Wesley reveals how cartels smuggle drugs into the United States, the rise of violent gangs like MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and the Mexican Mafia, and why he believes there's no real justice in America's system. He also opens up about the DUI crash that nearly paralyzed him and almost ended his career, along with unbelievable stories from decades on the frontlines of the war on drugs. This is an unfiltered look into the dangerous world of organized crime, cartel trafficking, and the failures of the justice system—from someone who lived it every day. #DEA #Cartels #DrugTrafficking #MS13 #MexicanMafia #TrueCrimePodcast #TrendeAragua #organizedcrime Thank you to PRIZEPICKS for sponsoring this episode: Visit https://prizepicks.onelink.me/LME0/IANBICK and use code IANBICK and get $50 in lineups when you play your first $5 lineup! Courage is Contagious: Voices Uniting Against Human Trafficking Synopsis: Teresa Velardi sits down with author Andi Buerger and contributing authors Lisa Babbage, Chris Meek, and Eric Caron to discuss the powerful new book, Voices Against Trafficking: Courage is Contagious – Uniting Voices and Nations in the War Against Human Slavery. At a time when true heroes can seem scarce, Voices Against Trafficking brings together extraordinary accounts from ordinary people who refused to look away in the face of injustice. These first-hand narratives spotlight individuals who saw something, said something, and took action—changing the course of lives forever. The stories remind us that the courage of a single person can create ripples of hope that reach across communities and even nations. Andi Buerger, a survivor of brutal child sex trafficking, shares her journey from victim to internationally recognized advocate who has rescued hundreds of at-risk teens through her nonprofit work. Lisa Babbage brings her expertise as an educator, nonprofit leader, and survivor of abuse, working to restore dignity to women and children. Chris Meek, co-founder of SoldierStrong, combines lessons on leadership, resilience, and humanitarian service from decades of working with U.S. veterans and global causes. Eric Caron, a decorated former U.S. Special Agent, offers a law enforcement and national security perspective on dismantling trafficking networks and rescuing victims. Together, they discuss the harsh realities of human trafficking, the systemic challenges in combating it, and the urgent need to unite voices from all walks of life in this fight. This compelling conversation will challenge listeners to confront the uncomfortable truth about modern-day slavery—and inspire them to believe that courage truly is contagious. Andi later founded Voices Against Trafficking(VAT) to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves — the voiceless victims of human trafficking and exploitation. VAT advocates for the protection of every human's rights regardless of race, gender, culture, or socio-economic status. Voices Against Trafficking-The Strength of Many Voices Speaking As One, gives a portion of proceeds from each sale to survivors of child abuse and trafficking, as does Andi's first book, A Fragile Thread of Hope - One Survivor's Quest to Rescue. Human trafficking may seem like a problem that only happens in places far away, but in reality, it happens here in Ohio. According to the United Nations' International Labour Organization, human trafficking impacts more than 27 million people worldwide. And though there's no reliable estimate of human trafficking in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, it has been reported in all 50 states. To try to better understand this issue, and how it can be stopped., we'll ask how do human trafficking cases occur in Ohio? What's happening to these victims? And how are survivors escaping? Later, over the next few weeks, Northeast Ohio will be in the path of a natural phenomenon. Millions of monarch butterflies will be on the move making their way to wintering grounds in Mexico. We will talk about monarch butterflies, including their migration and conservation efforts with local naturalists.

Several high-profile South African influencers – most notably Cyan Boujee, alongside Peachy Sprinkles, Ghost Hlubi, Seemah, and Zillewizzy – have recently promoted the Russian “Alabuga Start programme, a two-year work-study initiative.” Their social posts, which they later deleted following a public backlash, touted the programme as offering job and educational opportunities in Russia’s Tatarstan region But serious concerns have emerged. The programme reportedly lured hundreds of young African women under false pretences to work in Russian factories producing military drones—not in hospitality or technical training, as advertised.. So we tried to go straight to the source. We reached out to Russia’s Alabuga Start programme, we called their Marketing and PR Department, HR, the Project Office, the CEO’s reception. Some hung up the moment we said we were from South Africa, others quickly pushed us to HR and cut the call short. Out of all the departments we reached out to at Alabuga — only one picked up the phone for a moment: the Investor Relations Department. They spoke briefly, Even though they claimed to not know much about the finer details of the programme as they work ina different department… Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. Newt talks with Kevin Malone, a former Major League Baseball executive, about his journey from a successful sports career to becoming a dedicated advocate against child sex trafficking. Malone, who worked with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and Montreal Expos, transitioned to a role as a commentator for Fox Sports and ESPN after retiring from baseball. His life took a significant turn when he and his wife moved to Las Vegas in 2018 to combat human trafficking through various nonprofit organizations. Appointed by President Trump in 2025 as a senior advisor on human trafficking for HHS, Malone leverages his experience to fight for the eradication of child sex slavery. Their discussion highlights his baseball career, his theological studies, and his commitment to protecting children from exploitation. Malone emphasizes the importance of public-private partnerships, the role of technology in combating trafficking, and the need for stronger legal actions against perpetrators. He also sheds light on the prevalence of trafficking in the U.S., the involvement of familial connections, and the urgent need for moral leadership to address this crisis.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Christine Caine is a best-selling author, international speaker, justice advocate, and the founder of A21, one of the world's leading organizations combatting human trafficking. She's also the founder of Propel Women, a movement dedicated to empowering and equipping women to live out their purpose. But beyond the platforms and influence, Christine is someone who has walked through deep valleys - and emerged with a flourishing faith. In this episode, Christine shares her powerful story of identity, calling, and redemption. We talk about what it was like to discover - later in life - that she had been adopted, and how that moment created what psychologists call a narrative fracture, forcing her to reexamine the story she'd always believed about herself. But as she shares so honestly, that fracture became the very place where God's voice broke through: “Before I was born, the Lord called me; from my mother's womb he has spoken my name” (Isaiah 49:1).We explore the themes of suffering and calling, asking how God works through brokenness and how the darkest moments of our story often become the starting point of our purpose. Christine opens up about founding A21 and what she's learned from walking with people who had every reason to stop believing in God - and didn't.Podcast Links:Pursuing Faith
