R. Kelly Is Found Guilty of All Counts and Faces Life in Prison R. Kelly is going to prison. Why did it take so long? Here are a few possible answers:Federal prosecutors also accused Mr. Kelly of paying witnesses to not cooperate with the authorities in the lead-up to his 2008 trial and acquittal. They said the singer let some witnesses know they could be “subject to physical harm” if they proceeded. There are some cultural factors that may have helped Mr. Kelly avoid consequences for his behavior as well.Legal experts and people who study sexual abuse have also suggested that the race of most of Mr. Kelly's accusers likely played a role. Experts say Black women have historically been far more likely than white women to have their accusations about sexual misconduct distrusted or ignored.“Our reality is that our society just does not view Black women and girls as credible,” said Kenyette Barnes, a co-founder of the #MuteRKelly campaign. “We assume that 15-year-old Black girls have the cognitive ability to manipulate a grown man.”And some superstars have admitted that the race of the accusers shaped their perceptions in Mr. Kelly's case.☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #face #insta #amour #freedom #liberté #Freiheit #take #couple #pourtoi #tiktok #psycho #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #reeĺs #shorts #fyp #tpmp #today #cheri #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺ #short #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced that a vaccine booster plan can begin September 20, but only if the FDA determines that a third shot for those who got Pfizer and Moderna is deemed safe and effective. Federal health officials estimate that vaccine protection against COVID-19 decreases over time, but their effectiveness against severe disease, hospitalization and death remains high. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization criticized the plan, saying it was, “handing out extra life jackets to people who already have life jackets.” After decades of accusations and investigations, R. Kelly's first trial started yesterday in Brooklyn's federal court. He faces multiple charges including racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor, and eight counts of violating the Mann Act. Though he was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008, the explosive “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary and the #MuteRKelly campaign brought about the current charges, which center around six women who say they were physically abused. This case is expected to last 6 to 8 weeks and, if convicted, legal experts say Kelly would be facing at least 15 years in prison. And in headlines: protestors in Afghanistan oppose Taliban rule, a Texas school district finds a mask mandate loophole, and T-Mobile gets attacked by hackers. After hip hop icon Dr. Dre brutally assaulted trailblazing emcee and television personality Dee Barnes in 1991, his career continued to skyrocket while she was effectively blacklisted from the entertainment industry. Nearly three decades later, Dre, who has allegedly assaulted several other women in addition to Dee, continues to enjoy a celebrated career in which his heinous misdeeds have become mere footnotes. The combination of racism and patriarchy is the condition of possibility that allows Beats by Dre to be well-known commodities while beatings by Dre remain largely overlooked. As part of their fifth annual event series, Her Dream Deferred: A Week on the Status of Black Women, the African American Policy Forum, in partnership with the Hammer Museum, convened a panel called “Black Women and #MeToo”. Along with Dee, the panel included such leading lights as actor and Times Up WOC activist Rashida Jones, supermodel and Bill Cosby accuser Beverly Johnson, cultural critic Jamilah Lemieux, historian Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers and #MuteRKelly co-founder Kenyette Tisha Barnes. The panel was moderated by AAPF Executive Director and Intersectionality Matters host Kimberlé Crenshaw. The panel uplifted the unsung genealogy of the Me Too movement by acknowledging forerunners like Tarana Burke, who coined the hashtag #MeToo to raise awareness around the question of Black women’s vulnerability to sexual violence, and Anita Hill, who told the world her story about what a Supreme Court nominee had done to her as a young lawyer. Black feminists like bell hooks and Alice Walker were recognized also for laying bare the realities of gender-based violence that impacts Black women. Tune into this profound and pathbreaking episode of Intersectionality Matters for a thorough post-mortem on the powerful insights shared on the panel, as well as a look into what the movement’s path forward might look like. Kimberle Crenshaw talks with #MuteRKelly co-founder Kenyette Barnes and Margo Okazawa-Rey talks with Kimberle Crenshaw about her work at AAPF and on intersectionality Two recent true-crime docu-series about the sexual abuse by well-known singers have rocked the mainstream world. HBO's “Leaving Neverland” about Michael Jackson and Lifetime's “Surviving R. Kelly” about  acclaimed  singer  and producer R Kelly are causing another round of contentious debate in this time of #Me Too. Despite the revelations and  decades-long public discussions  of the alleged abuses of these two popular cultural giants, the documentaries seem finally to be breaking through the denial of the last 25 years.  But even so, there is resistance to hold the two accountable. This is partly because of Jackson and Kelly's beloved status and partly because of the country's history of lynchings and incarceration of black men based on transgressions fabricated by white women. This history is further complicated by the fraught history of white feminists failing to include race and racism centrally in their analyses of sexual violence. Both factors complicate accusations against black men. So today I present the views of three black feminist women who have have been working to address the denial of abuse in the black community and who discuss how white supremacy and Misogynoir can help prevent the abuse of black women by black men from getting the attention it deserves. In the first half of the show we will hear clips from a new podcast called “Intersectionality Matters” by renowned feminist and legal scholar Kimberle Crenshaw who  talks with #MuteRKelly co-founder Kenyette Barnes about her movement to expose R Kelly's serial abuse of Black women and girls.           And then in the second half of the show renowned scholar, activist, and author Margo Okazawa-Rey talks to legal scholar and activist Kimberlé Crenshaw about how to understand and address the complex problem of sexual abuse and related trauma in black communitie   Kimberlé Crenshaw, is professor of Law at UCLA and Columbia Law School, and is a leading authority in the area of Civil Rights, Black feminist legal theory, and race, racism and the law. Her work has been foundational in Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality. And she is the co-founder of the African American Policy Forum (AAPF),  a think tank that works to dismantle structural inequality. Margo Okazawa-Rey is Barbara Lee Distinguished Chair in Wmen's Leadership and Professor of Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and of Public Policy at Mills College. Kelly has been an R&B superstar for two decades, with hit songs such as "I Believe I Can Fly" and "I Wish," and winning several music awards, including three Grammys. But while Kelly has enjoyed mainstream success, throughout his career, he has been plagued by allegations of sexual involvement with underage girls and inappropriate, abusive relationships with women and girls. Recently, the documentary miniseries "Surviving R. Kelly" was released on Lifetime, discussing allegations of Kelly's sexual misconduct, including more recent allegations that he keeps women and girls captive in an abusive "sex cult." The documentary featured interviews with several accusers, family members of alleged victims, former business and personal associates, and family members. R. Kelly has not been convicted of any crime related to the sexual misconduct and abuse allegations, and he has denied all accusations. In this episode, Jaye discusses the R. Kelly documentary with her brother, the author of Gods of Life and co-owner of Shining Otaku Comics, Ervin Johnson II. Jaye and Ervin talk about Kelly's history, the #MeToo movement, and women's empowerment. R. Kelly’s serial abuse of Black women and girls has been one of the entertainment industry’s worst-kept secrets for the entirety of the 21st century. In the mid 90s, Kelly was romantically linked with and even briefly married to 15-year-old singer Aaliyah, for whom he wrote and produced the incriminatory hit “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.” An explicit bootleg tape which appeared to feature Kelly abusing yet another teenage girl circulated on street corners as early as 2001. In 2017, a Buzzfeed exposé alleged that the man who famously crooned “I’m a bad man/And I’m not ashamed of it” held several women captive in his home in a cult-like harem. Yet it took the convergence of the #MuteRKelly movement, the January 2019 release of documentary Surviving R. Kelly and popular culture’s broader reckoning with the pattern of sexual violence perpetrated by powerful men for the self-proclaimed Pied Piper of R&B to face consequences for orchestrating his salacious symphony. At long last, Kelly has now been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four women, three of whom were minors at the time. On this timely and trenchant episode of Intersectionality Matters, host Kimberle Crenshaw goes beyond the sheet music with #MuteRKelly co-founder Kenyette Barnes to rupture the rhythm Kelly has used to give Black women and girls the blues for decades. Intersectionality Matters! is recorded and produced by Julia Sharpe-Levine. This episode was edited by Julia Sharpe-Levine and Rebecca Scheckman and recorded by Robert Jimison, Michael Kramer, and Julia Sharpe-Levine. Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans! Last week was relatively slow one news wise - at least by the boys’ standard. No one was really moved by any of the major topics that buzzed around the music landscape in the last 7 days. Consequently, the episode structure is looser. Before officially kicking off the news section Eden asks Sope and Nic for their thoughts on whether artists in the UK are victims of incorrect genre categorizations (00:47:46). The boys then move onto the announcement that the Jonas Brothers are reuniting for a new album and share their thoughts on the new single ‘Sucker’ (01:08:48). A swift sidetrack sees the boys discuss the short-lived fame of OSH and what they think is next for people like him and Loz (01:16:46). The big elephant in the room is finally addressed as the boys once and for all offer their two pence on R. Kelly’s sexual abuse and child pornography changes (01:21:23). Next up Eden and Nic discuss their wider grievances with Ariana Grande’s persona in the midst of the recent controversy about her headlining Manchester Pride (01:48:55). Leading to a debate of what a ‘stan’ is and means (02:05:04). Lastly, the boys discuss the changing face and shifting connotations associated with performing in Vegas following the announcement that Drake will be hosting his own his residency there later this year (02:08:42).
